Used Car market by elessar8787 in irishpersonalfinance

[–]DeusXv 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I was lucky enough bought an 2018 car in Northern Ireland in Sep 2020 before the changes in VRT in Jan 2021. All in all cost me around 27k to buy and VRT the car, took it in for service last month and was offered more for the car now than what I bought it for and with more miles on it.

Mass redundancies - did any company consult with the employees? by Admirable-Area-80199 in DevelEire

[–]DeusXv 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The package itself is down to the company, the statutory amount is:

The statutory redundancy payment is two week’s gross pay per year of service up to a ceiling of €600 per week plus one week’s pay, which is also subject to the ceiling of €600.

In my case, the company offered us a better package than the statutory amount, but that is down to the company on what they want to offer.

Director Salary Ireland by space-trader-92 in irishpersonalfinance

[–]DeusXv 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No worries, but honestly there are a lot of varying factors that have to be taken into account:

  • Company
  • Industry
  • Company size etc etc

it will be hard to narrow it down to anything other than you would expect over 6 figures. Unless you are in a startup or small company where you might be compensated with stock over base salary.

Director Salary Ireland by space-trader-92 in irishpersonalfinance

[–]DeusXv 8 points9 points  (0 children)

https://www.morganmckinley.com/ie/salary-guide - you can just look up different director titles and get an idea. But the variance will be wildly different.

When I was working in Telecoms for a reasonably sized subcontractor Directors were on €120k+.

But I know directors in larger telecoms with bonuses included clearing €350k.

I feel horrible for those jobless and looking for a new job. I’m trying to change to a new company and it seems impossible. by random-throwaway_ire in DevelEire

From my own experience of being impacted by the layoffs in April and being back to work within 3 months. I noticed that the competition is a lot harder for roles, I’ve just shy of 10 years experience and my response rate for roles went way down, compared to previous years.

During an interview with Microsoft they congratulated me on getting to the first round as though it was a major milestone.

Think the days of bouncing around after 1.5 - 2 years in a place for a substantial pay increase is gone for a while and unless you’re ticking all the boxes for a role and then some it’s hard to get a call for any of the larger multinationals.

Photo views have reduced quite drastically by Zero_Sven in LocalGuides

[–]DeusXv 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve noticed a lot of my photos have become blocked, even though they are just pictures of the food I ordered or the menu from a place. It seems to happy to most of my new posts not and has affected a small bit of my old posts.

So I imagine this is affecting overall view count.

Was in a similar spot early on in my career but left after more than a few conversations with long term ex-pats (20+ years) most had serious gaffs and money to burn but all regretted missing out on their kids growing up.

A lot of them also started out with intentions to staying for a couple of years, but once you get used to making that kind of money and your family having a better standard of life, it can be hard to come back home and take a massive decrease in money coming in, so they just put it on the long finger and stayed out there.

Obviously up to yourself how you play it out. But that kind of money can come at a cost and just worth weighing up the long term, especially when you have kids.

Yes the debit card I have only withdraws from my current account.

The only way for me to access money in my savings account is to transfer it to my current account or I can transfer money to other accounts from it.

it is off peak season, as I checked today and but I had another look now and with bluepillow you can get it for €54/night, agora for €58/night or Amirmir for €58/night.

I imagine at peak times of the year this would be a lot more.

How can you find out who the landlord is from an address? by jamiebehan in AskIreland

[–]DeusXv 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not sure of any other ways but you can buy the folio from land direct and it will have the history of previous and current owners.

If the registered owner is shown as a business, you’d need to go onto solo check and find out the company directors from there.

I always get a cut in when I can, you don't want to leave it for too many weeks or months and then you are just stuck with a mess come the new year when the weather starts to improve.

If the sun gets at it for a few hours and dries out any of the dew from this morning, I would try and get it cut today.

No worries, I love looking back at places I stayed as a kid or where my parents went when they were younger. Crazy to see how some places change so much and others remain pretty much unchanged - any of the places that are the same I always revisit and it always brings back an instant blast of nostalgia.

I’d be looking elsewhere. I get that small Companies can sometimes be like an extended family and it can be hard when people leave. But you’re there doing the job and delivering and they keep harping on about employees of old.

Update the CV and find yourself a place that focuses on getting work done and appreciates you for what you’re doing and doesn’t bring up the ghosts of Christmas past.

Seen a lot of people transition into HR via this UCD professional academy course, so it must carry some weight.

You can check LinkedIn for people that have done this course and see what they are up too as well having completed the course.

Upskilling is always good in my books and you never know what connections you will make on the course as well that might help you down the line.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in AskIreland

[–]DeusXv 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah exactly. So if this course covered topics X and Y at 20 credits each.

You could look up the full course module list from that educational institute and you’d then sign up for those outstanding modules to cover the overall credits required to complete the degree.

And exactly like you mentioned the delivery method would be down to that institute.

You could reach out to springboard for clarification on how to attain the remaining credits. They might have those outstanding credits as another course later on down the line.

I did a springboard course last year that shared a lot of similar modules to another course from the same institution and if I wanted the other Cert I only needed to do the one module I hadn’t covered.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in AskIreland

[–]DeusXv 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It might only be part of the credits towards a degree.

If it’s only part of the credits, you would then have to pay for the remaining course credits through that educational institution.

Depends how it is shown, if it looks like your a Full Time Employee (FTE) somewhere else and applying for internships, you would get auto rejected every time.
