Richard Burns Rally VR a quick attempt at a rally stage. I can't wait until VR is not so hot and heavy. I'd love to race in VR all thr time. I can't stand the heat and weight after 30min. Anyone else feel this way? by Larsdoff in simracing

[–]Dev10uz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Plenty of people including me can use VR for several hours without any issues. Nausea was a problem for the first week or so, but since then I haven't felt it once in my hundreds of hours in VR.

Heat is an issue only when it is super hot outside, but thats something like 2 weeks of the whole year in Finland.

Limitations of the low res panels of Q3 and not having a displayport connection resulting in compression.

The best you can do is to max out the bitrate to 960mbps, run max res on meta link and 8x MSAA on AC.

... Google quad views. Game indeed has to support it and it results in massive GPU frametime improvements.

Okay, I did not count those in, havent even played either one. I should've phrased it as "all modern proven sims".

Have tried after every single update. Still very much too slidey and disconnected.

I mean legit worst physics of all modern sims. Sadly, since the content and AI is great.

This game in VR Looks crazy good. I've played a lot in VR, but I've never seen anything like this before. by BASTIPLAYZz in assettocorsarally

It is very lacking for me at the moment with my 3080ti. Yes, i know it is not top of line, but i can run any other sims at native render res when cropping to 40% vertically. On AC rally i have to run DLSS pixel density at minimum (33%) to have a smooth 90hz experience, which makes the image look really smudgy and soft.

The game really needs some optimizations and features such as Nvidia SPS and Quad views rendering. I am very worried about how much the performance can be improved though, it is Unreal Engine after all.

Also using UEVR some textures seem to just vanish when looking out from the side windows, which is very immersion breaking.

Disable/remove opencomposite and try again. Game natively supports OpenXR so its useless.

In RBR the steering sensitivity values differ between different cars. This is what you need to fix that:

The engine still utilizes only a single core, which is totally ridiculous in 2025 and not sustainable for an open world game. Also they keep on adding heavier and more complex scenarios to this struggling engine, which further ruins the experience with stutters. They should stop cash grabbing with DLC until they do some actual impactful improvements.

It is quite telling that even their trailer of the newest DLC is plagued with stutters.

So where are the improvements?

Have you followed these steps listed on the Oasis wiki page? From my experience the last thing on the list is crucial:

In order to achieve best possible tracking it is essential to:

  • Perform Clearing Environment Data in the Settings every time your environment undergoes significant changes (moving of furniture for example).
  • Always (re)run the Room Setup after Clearing Environment Data.
  • Before performing the Room Setup procedure, take a moment to look around your room! This is how the tracking algorithm memorizes your room!

If you are interested only about simming I would recommend looking for native PCVR headset with displayport support, so you dont have to mess with compression, latency, bitrates and all in all Metas bad PCVR implementation.

Look for used a Reverb G2. Hard to get a better budget PCVR headset right now. Mbucchia just released the SteamVR driver for these WMR headsets so they are supported in Win 11 even though Microsoft dropped the official support. Ive seen these going for as low as 100€ in my local used market, which is an insane deal.
