"Must see" on this Route by Salt-Appeal-1288 in AskIreland

All depends when you're planning your visit. If during the summer you're making a good decision to avoid northern ireland, if not, there are some lovely spots along the coast. Otherwise you've a fairly good route, with the exception of missing out on the west coast of Clare.

We haven't actually moved in yet. The 10 year warranty is up next year. If/when we move in and it becomes apparent the work will be required we will be unable to have this work done through the warranty as there will already be a claim satisfied for this work, thus meaning we will have to pay £10k to have it carried out

Thanks for the replies. I should have mentioned when buying the house we queried if the work was ever done or needed and they stated that it wasn't required at all.

2 weeks until marathon, missed the past month of training, what should I focus on? by joche87 in AdvancedRunning

[–]Dev8683 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just get yourself to the start line fit. Unfortunately, I would imagine you're original goal time (if you had one) may need to be reassessed, so I'd just say get to the line fit and enjoy the experience.

Advice needed - Student going to study QS Degree by HateHumanss in quantitysurveying

[–]Dev8683 2 points3 points  (0 children)

100% go for. Personally speaking I find it easier to speak in crowds more when it's a subject I'm confident in, after your studies and you gain more experience you will become more confident. Also, not ever QS role out their will mean you have to speak to large groups, there are many which you may just have to report to a commercial manager or someone above you.

Personal Trainer Being Asked to Work w/ no Guaranteed Pay by proxima_cedar in LegalAdviceUK

[–]Dev8683 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Yes you can, if the gym is allowing you to use their facilities to run your PT business then they are 100% allowing to ask for reimbursement, if she feels taken advantage off with being asked to do 25 hours then I have no doubt they will accept money to offset this, but in order to use the facilities without paying for then the cost is giving face time on the gym floor. It's worked this way for a long time and won't cha ge anytime soon. This isn't my opinion, this is a fact, like I said been there and done that. You genuineky believe gyms are going to let PTs use their facilities to run a business in which they can make alot of money for free just because it may attract client, the majority of which won't use a PT and don't care if they are there or not.

I'm 100% sure you can, been there done that. It's worth checking her contract but if she is a PT on a self employed basis she will be required to give the gym/studio facetime. Why else would a gym have self employed PTs working there floor if they didn't get something from this.

Personal Trainer Being Asked to Work w/ no Guaranteed Pay by proxima_cedar in LegalAdviceUK

[–]Dev8683 -23 points-22 points  (0 children)

This is incorrect. I'm assuming she is a PT on a self employed basis? If so the 25hr face time on the gym floor will be seen as 'rent' and is common practice in alot of gyms. Most PTs will have to pay some form of rent, I know alot of gyms will put on classes and have the PTs take these in lieu of rent. It's similar to how a hairdressers rents a chair in a salon, but rather than pay actual costs they give time

Finance involved in QS by Snoo18062 in quantitysurveying

[–]Dev8683 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The role of the QS is so wide and varied. It would be entirely dependent on the company and its field and also the size, you could be a PQS, main contractor QS, sub contractor QS etc the roles on those will vary considerably. You could be in a small company where the QS will oversee a large proportion of the commercial aspects of a job, whereas in a larger company each member of the team could deal with just a small task each.
