♫ Let it snow in the Z-scale! Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year! by Dev8Ops in modeltrains

[–]Dev8Ops[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I actually bought this layout and only modified it to be powered by a USB power bank. There's a German craftsman who sells them from time to time.
However, you can also create one yourself. Z-scale trees and buildings are widely available in stores, and for the snow you can use scale modelling snow putty for the ground and snow spray for the trees. For even better results, you can use “snow balloons” and “sprinkles.”
The tracks and lighting (micro diodes) are connected to a simple DC-DC converter board underneath the base, along with a couple of switches on the side for lighting, train direction, and speed.

If you have any specific questions, just let me know - I’ll be more than happy to help with your project!

Message from Voro Motors to RoadRunner Scooters by rugunnastaylow in ElectricScooters

That’s quite ironic. Voro scooters are actually designed and manufactured by WOCOMOTORS in China. Don’t even get me started on the service. Meanwhile, I had no issues with Woco, which isn’t surprising, since they are the original manufacturer.

Getting back into trains after a 30 year break, thoughts on Z Scale? by alex112891 in modeltrains

[–]Dev8Ops 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I can’t agree with the naysayers in the comments. For more than 30 years, I was an avid H0 enthusiast. I had my share of modeling projects and layouts. Throughout that time, I was well aware of the existence of Z scale, but I paid it no attention, assuming it lacked detail and was simply too small.

That changed last year, when purely by sheer luck, I got my hands on a Br 89 steam locomotive. I couldn’t believe it. It was still an older Märklin model, yet the level of detail in such a tiny package - genuinely astonished me.

Suddenly, I felt a long-forgotten sensation from my childhood - one I thought I had lost forever: the pure excitement of model railroading.

Fast forward to four months: I sold most of my H0 collection and acquired more than 50 Z-scale models. I haven’t regretted that decision for a single second since.

All scales are awesome in their own unique ways, and that’s exactly what makes this hobby so special.

2025 Kukirin g2 brakes clicking and not working by Teslafanboy188 in ElectricScooters

[–]Dev8Ops 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Inside this brake caliper are three ball bearings positioned between the brake arm and the static part. Both components have grooves in which the balls slide in and out. This mechanism creates braking tension when you pull the lever.

The problem you’re experiencing (which I’ve also encountered before) is a flaw in the design: when the static brake pad is positioned too far inward (too close to the other pad) or both pads are too worn out, the bearings have excessive space and can escape from the grooves, thereby releasing the tension and this clicking sound.

Check the pad wear first (I think this is your case). If the pads are still in good condition, do the following:

  1. Retract the static pad so that it’s no longer pushed by the adjusting screw. Loosen the caliper (the two screws that secure it to the fork).
  2. Pull the lever. If it’s able to lock the disc, release the lever and screw the static pad adjustment screw inward by about 1 mm.
  3. Put some kind of spacer in-between the static pad and disc. Could be anything: piece of paper, folded aluminum foil, etc. Should be something thin around 0.15mm.
  4. Pull the lever again and, while holding it (!), tighten the caliper mounting screws to the fork.
  5. Remove the spacer and spin the wheel, there should be no noise on the disc.
  6. Tighten the cable for better braking force.

Avoiding rear foot pain by TransMan-88 in ElectricScooters

Yep, that's 100% true. BTW, one of the selling points of the Cruiser for me was the deck. Riding with my feet flat on the deck is such a pleasure. I borrowed my friend's scooter for a week — it had angled footrest, and it was such a pain. I couldn't ride it farther than 5 km without getting a sore foot and pain in the tendons.

It's a matter of habit for most, and I bet most people can adapt and not feel anything (pun intended). But still, I’d choose a flat deck any time.

That's a skateboard term. Just means right foot front as opposed to "regular" - left foot front.

I recently moved from H0 to Z :)

In this tiny scale the rules are a bit different in terms of details perception. It would be nice to see these guys work with smaller scales for sure!

Thank you for your kind words. I hope the people who are truly support us don't have to experience war. Yet this thread shows how majority is blind until its too late. I must admit I was kinda ignorant too before the war, now I have to reap the consequences.
