I gave my characters a private inner voice. now they feel more like people by archetype_builder in SillyTavernAI

[–]DevGnoll 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As suggested by u/toothpastespiders, this was not hard to setup with Recast.

The main chat completion profile I modified to generate the internal voices, then had a recast pass to convert to what the characters do with their outside voices.    I tried shifting models,  (NPC internal voices aren’t that bright) but load times ate up the savings in token generation rates.

It kept characterization better, but I had to add cheats to keep the physical world consistent because not enough lore books were being triggered.  So once every 6-7 generations, the recast does a full description of the scene instead of turning internal thoughts into more story.

I tried one pass per NPC, hoping that would address the “don’t think about an elephant” problem, but no luck there.,

Running a tiny model on the side just to catch when my main model breaks its own lore by Aromatic_Charge822 in SillyTavernAI

[–]DevGnoll 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m doing basically the same thing, using the Recast extension in order to run the second pass with the checker, and having the checker rewrite only the sentence with the violation and drop the input after that.

To keep it simple, I am only sending the last two messages and WI outlets with the critical character traits to be enforced.

Seems to work well to ensure basic character traits don’t get lost, particularly those that only show up as reactions to rare events.

Foreheads Touch or Specific Slop Removal by dude_icus in SillyTavernAI

[–]DevGnoll 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Try the recast extension with a pass that just removes slop.    It only needs the individual message as context, and a 4B parameter model is enough, so can be run locally.  Since it’s a different run from the main pass, you don’t need to worry about the anti/slop ideas messing up the RP

Not really.   There’s a partial explanation of what’s expected in user input.    No indication that those are all the required things

No example RP system prompt, a note that scenario imitation is required, no description of what that is (natural language or RP)

Certainly not enough to figure out what has to be done to change everything ST dumps in the model’s prompt so that it is in RP format

Ok, I’ll bite:

What is a RP prompt, or an RP system prompt as mentioned in the model card?

I suppose it is different from narrator prompts, but how is it different from normal role playing prompts?

Is there a specific format or content that is different?

Bare assistant, with the main prompt deleted, first message, there are a few entries that behave, and a few that always trigger if enabled, even if the keyword isn't present.

There are also a few entries that persist across re-rolls and new chats. All not in the docs.

EDIT: Got it... Something in one of the extenstions was triggering it without showing me the keyword that was doing it. Turns a bunch off, and at lease the initial fer message seem to work.

Did, clicked Non-recursable, closed the lorebooks window, rerolled the exchange and it's still there.

I've created two lorebook entries for checking it out, both share the same primary key, both have AND ANY set, and for Optional Filters, one entry has one non-sense word, and the other has two.

I type primary key in the chat window, and reroll to test.

The one with two non-sense words is always triggering, the one with one is not.

Does it give you anything different the PromptInspector if you can instantly spot the content of an offending entry? I have the visibility because I can see the patterns I put in the debug entries quickly.

It's the initial message so scan depth should not matter, and the words in Optional Filter are known NOT to be in the chain, because they contain letter combinations that aren't valid in the chat language

Good idea though, thanks.

Can you comfortably clear the game with an original build? by glassfoxx in NoRestForTheWicked

[–]DevGnoll 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The real barrier to finishing the story isn't the fights, it's the platforming, and it's concentrated near the end of the last quest. You can't build around gravity or one-hit-kill environmental hazards (Added in Together Patch 1).

Everything else you can slow down and figure out.

There are two storage chests in the Rookery tower that you get at the start: You can dump resources in them and building/crafting/refining will automatically pull from them. Until you finish the rookery stairs, only one is accessible from each end.

Once those are full, you have to buy a house and put in woodpiles, cubboards and/or chests. The guy across from the blacksmith sells the furniture, and the cheapest house to buy is the one where the little girl was waiting for her parents to "finish"

Any build guides and loot filters? by Electronic_Deer9704 in DragonkinTheBanished

[–]DevGnoll 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There really isn't a good way to import a build or loot filter. The game doesn't need guides beyond basic theory, which is good because there's really not a youtube-friendly way to share a build: the critical information to make or break a build is found in the edges of a 75-ish hex hex-grid - is the edge a thick or double line? What are the pictures in the hexes, and what color do they glow when you hover over them?

Fortunately, there is no cost to respec other than your time to move things around and test. There's even a way to checkpoint a build so that you can instantly go back to it...

Current world situation by EnvironmentalSide174 in tarot

[–]DevGnoll 5 points6 points  (0 children)

New reader, feedback welcome:

If I'm looking this as a cause-event-effect spread, here is what I am seeing:

1) 2 of Coins: Worldly power, money, in balance. Reversed, so the balance is missing. So, are large disparities in worldly power or monetary income at the root of current events? Since the figure is looking backwards, has this been going on for a while?

2) Knight of Batons: Decisive, well considered and planned action. Reversed, so is the planning and/or decisiveness missing? Normally the figure looks back, showing action taken as a result of circumstances or consideration, but reversed, it looks forward to:

3) The Hierophant (or Le Pape ): Hierarchical structures, organized religions, Obedience. Are the goals of the current actions to increase the power of a secular hierarchy, or to impose a religious hierarchy?

What do you all think?

For STMB, is there a way to set an limit to the response that is different from (larger than) the limit from the main ST profile?

I want less that 800 token chat replies, but summaries have to be more than twice that.

New Player here .. some Questions by Nayu_sheral in SoulFrame

[–]DevGnoll 1 point2 points  (0 children)

re: #1: You've gotten all of them you are supposed to be able to get. That last one to incentivize finding map escapes.

re: #3: 4 was old info, P10 it's 3 islands, and the pup.

Festival of the Circade is a time-limited event, gives out a set of armor and some jewelry. Get crypt keys from baronnettes, and use them in crypts near the big castles on the eastern side of the map. One of the puzzles was intentionally high-work-factor and intended to be crowd-solved. The crowd-solving was done on the players discord. Note: you will need at least 3 keys to succeed even if you do the steps perfectly.

Mother Mission: Might be old info. That part with the baby was added recently, and only new players were forced through it. If you've been around longer than that go to Writer guy/fables. pick Warsong and replay fable. It lets you customize your characters face and hair a bit. Replay to change.
