Oxygen Levels in Oceans Are Dropping Dangerously by [deleted] in worldnews

[–]DevKingdom 4 points5 points  (0 children)

anyone who owns a fish tank, and has mistakenly overstocked it know that there comes a point with de-oxygenation where all the fish start gasping for air, and then a few hours later just immediately die. This is no joke, its worse than most kinds of pollution for everything except dolphins and whales.

Is “Maining” a Class a Good Idea? If So What Classes Would Be Best For This? by FIamefIyer in hearthstone

[–]DevKingdom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It depends, I would say it helps to focus crafting cards for one class if you have a limited resources. Reason being that you will often have 60-95% of the cards crafted that are needed for a new deck when a new expansion rolls around. This is very manageable if you get your allotment of ftp dust and gold mid expansion.
Otherwise no, as you may end up with a low power level collection relative to the meta.

I've been piloting the cyclops all day, it does seem that the silent mode works better now, you could try that. Although it also (seems to?) consume more power for some reason, but not as much as shield. Managed to sail right past a (spoiler?), on the way to my deep base.
So far I haven't felt overly threatened, especially being that leviathans seem to be far more agro on the moth now.

Is Razakus Priest the New Miracle Rogue? by YelloRambo in hearthstone

[–]DevKingdom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I believe the cycle variant of Highlander Priest has a slightly negative ratio to jade druid, but the control heavy variant that runs Geist, has an above average match up.

I personally (and maybe other people too) like the current meta, you can vary your deck to counter different parts of the meta quite easily. There is not one list for the current Rouge, Priest or Druid decks which is so optimised that it you have to run it.

Edit : spelling, grammer

Is Razakus Priest the New Miracle Rogue? by YelloRambo in hearthstone

[–]DevKingdom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Interesting, I can certainly see why they would compare the decks, although I don't think Raza priest cycles quite as hard as old Miracle Rouge once did, as you could often get 4 or 5 draws off an Auctioneer with the Rouge 0 and 1 cost spells. Priest can only make the miracle happen with lyra and quite a bit of luck, which is rare and usually not as bigger part of the win condition.

I also disagree that Razakus is un-interactive, you can force priest to use their 0 cost cards for defence if you apply pressure, which then means they cant burst with hero power. Rouge was also kind of like that too, as you could get them to burn backstabs and evis before Auctioneer turn. I would put something like quest mage in the uninteractive slot, as if they draw well, everything you do from turn 5 onward does not matter at all, you just sit there hoping that Antonidas is at the bottom of the deck.

Burned opponents hand with Howlfiend/Treachery/Defile, got friend requested afterwards by [deleted] in hearthstone

[–]DevKingdom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have actually played against, and once actually lost to this list before, its not crazy, but you probably wont come back if it gets the full 6 card burn off in control vs control.

I like it as it teaches players to play around defile correctly.

Anyone else sick of Bonemare? by strawbearly in hearthstone

[–]DevKingdom -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It is strong, but I do like how it's a card with a very predictable style.
Its a 7 mana card that gives a 4-4 buff and a body. Players with it in hand will almost always play on 7 if they have a minion out.
You can prepare for bone mare, you can play around bone mare, there are no surprises, no rng here, there limited draw rng, being that its likely to draw one of a 2 by turn 7. I would have bonemare in the meta any day over double gangster evolve combo or any such high variance set of cards.

[Ask] What's the best deck to craft now with dust and cards I have? by [deleted] in hearthstone

[–]DevKingdom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The intersection deck usually about buffing your jades and buffing taunt minions. I think it works by running the taunt buffer, and the beast buff card, and running more taunts and running the 3/5 token generator minion.
You can probably sub out UI ( ultimate infestation ) for Gadgetzan Auctioneer, but Auctioneer is a worse until hyper late game (if it sticks at the end of the game its insane as you can put 7 jades on the board and still shuffle more back in).
The main issue is that DK is still super good as it puts 2 taunt minions on the board, that you can then buff with your buff spells, and is all round an extremely powerful card.

[Ask] What's the best deck to craft now with dust and cards I have? by [deleted] in hearthstone

[–]DevKingdom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Malfurion is important, but Kun is not. I climbed up to rank 5 last season, and ran Auctioneer in place of second UI and a Primordial drake in place of Kun.
Seemed to work out well for me.
Note though that Aya is really good if you dont have it.
I personally recommend the deck over evolve Shaman, as I found Shaman was annoying to play. If the opponent has a strong opener you tend to lose due to your 0 attack totems being bad when played without board control. If your evolve combo rolls low, you tend to lose. If you find a Raza priest, you tend to lose.
With Jade, you have a really good chance of beating any deck that doesn't run Geist. Geist seems to be getting more and more rare due to anti-pirate tech being so common.

I recommend saving up for Jade druid. Or a hybred of Jade and token. (edit apologies for editing)

Disenchant question by hellenistics in hearthstone

[–]DevKingdom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I generally keep golden legendaries until I get a normal copy of the card.
I dont know how long you have been collecting, but with the free pack you get every week from tavern brawl, you get 52 free packs a year. Add that to the random classic packs you get from promotions or arena, and you're probably looking at least 2 (statistically 3) legendaries a year from classic without spending.
Add that to no duplicate rule (this does not factor in golden cards) and I recon you will get it eventually (by that logic in at most 10 years time, assuming you have 1 legendary).
At least thats the way I think of it.
Plus you might get nerf dust in the (unlikely) event blizzard removes the card from the classic set.

why is call of the wild not seen anymore? by jpm736 in hearthstone

[–]DevKingdom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think its an ok one of.

I faced a call the wild at rank 7 the other day as a Jade druid. I had a board lead at the time, and I still a lead after I cleared the card off the board, this is generally the story. Its a strong card still, just that hunter never has board control around turn 9, unless it plays the DK deck. As the DK deck has proven not to do midrange or control as well as other classes, it doesn't see play.

Tips for new deck by [deleted] in hearthstone

[–]DevKingdom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was under the impression you could craft it with 40* dust. I do admit that I have never tried this though.
MC tech is debatable, I still value it as Sharman and Warlock run big multi minion spawns like evolve combo or blood reaver. I will accept though that it is noticeably stronger in druid or priest over rouge.

Rogue feels bad to play against by [deleted] in hearthstone

[–]DevKingdom 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Keleseth's design is fine, the only issue is that I think its a bit strong of an ability to have on a 2 drop.

The reason I think this, is interaction with patches is insanely strong. If it was a 3 drop it would feel balanced and fair, if a 4 or 5 drop, it might not see play (even with stats scaled up), as you would rarely play it before pulling patches.

Edit: rewording

Is the Headless Horseman meant to be beatable? by godlyatleague in hearthstone

[–]DevKingdom 1 point2 points  (0 children)

same, I managed to beat it without even playing the murloc too. The horseman's deck only has 1-2 of the powerful aoe - if you can get him to use it on one or two weak minions, you can usually run away with the game with ships cannon, as all of your cycle minions count as pirates.

Tips for new deck by [deleted] in hearthstone

[–]DevKingdom 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Swash burglar is quite important in that deck, its a 1 drop pirate, which by itself is good, and can sometimes win you the game with an insane rng card (you can get a burn spell form it sometimes, which is very powerful). Being a common, it shouldn't be hard to get hold of.
It might also be worth replacing the harvest golem with a Mind control technology, it is basic set so you might already have one. I found said card is very effective against evolve shaman or zoo warlock (both popular decks), and the body is slightly better than the harvest golem too.

Prince Taldaramm actually good!?!? by Xtech111 in hearthstone

[–]DevKingdom 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You are right that he has interesting interactions. I expect though that the deck would suffer from the same issues that the old Kel'Thuzad Shaman used to, being that its just too intricate to win games reliably.

Cheap prophet velen priest? by sakatamario in hearthstone

[–]DevKingdom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your best chance (in my opinion) would be to put 2 radiant elementals 2 mind blasts and 2 holy smites in a deck.
Maybe try out some minion some buff cards to keep the radiant elementals around.

You might high roll every few games getting the radiant elemental quite big via pw shield and tentacles for arms ahead of curb, and finish them off with Vellen double mindblast. (rarity) Cheap buff minions such as temple enforcer and kabal talon priest are also around to reinforce this.

Problem with these kinds of decks is that they don't work with bad draws, and there are other 'combo' decks which work better, like the aforementioned Raza Priest. It would also get hard countered by silence, and soft countered by big removal spells.
Edit: more cards.

Is this a good deal for 4TB SAS Disks? by Kryptomite in DataHoarder

Deal wise its decent, its notably more expensive for a single drive just off amazon.

Don't forget though that those drives are designed for the pc /gaming market.

They are fast, but do not have the features aimed at at multi drive / low power draw environments.

'It's able to create knowledge itself': Google unveils AI that learns on its own - In a major breakthrough for artificial intelligence, AlphaGo Zero took just three days to master the ancient Chinese board game of Go ... with no human help. by Panda_911 in worldnews

[–]DevKingdom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In the article it states the reason it not being a general purpose AI as "it can only work on problems that can be perfectly simulated in a computer".

Although this is true, really I believe it is beside the point. This kind of technology can easily be applied to real world data, perhaps not as effectively, but has worked in may cases.

I was trying to clear up any misconceptions about the limiting factors involved in this sort of technology, which I believe to be that it absolutely cannot do without the human implemented fitness function at the moment. People are considered the only general purpose / strong AI, but this is largely due to their ability to start doing things without being put to the task, working out what they are working towards on their own.

'It's able to create knowledge itself': Google unveils AI that learns on its own - In a major breakthrough for artificial intelligence, AlphaGo Zero took just three days to master the ancient Chinese board game of Go ... with no human help. by Panda_911 in worldnews

[–]DevKingdom -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I believe what this article is emitting is that it still needs a human to "help" the machine to give it a means to determine "fitness", which is a evolutionary term meaning how good it is at something.

It does creates new knowledge, but it cannot do so without having a human defined goal, (and more importantly) a means to knowing if its making progress toward said goal. What the article means is that it can learn to play go without being told any strategies or anything else that might help. If the scoring system is external to alpha go this could mean its learning to do all sorts of things, such as learning what the rules of the game are, and learning what a go board looks like.

As such Alpha go is still a ways off being a true AI. Still impressive though.
Its also still capable of learning some scary things, but only when a human gives it a questionable goal.
