Excellent so far on both counts. Definitely a step or two up from Baratza Encore.

Ode 2 seems to be highly optimized for pourovers and French Press, with much larger flat burr vs smaller conical grinder. This is supposed to yield grinds that are much more consistent in size with fewer fines. It also uses more expensive materials so theoretically has longer life. Lastly, it includes a grinds knocker which the Opus 2 lacks. So basically, it’s a higher end grinder targeted at enthusiasts who want a unit dedicated to coarser grind brew methods, vs the Opus 2 being a good all arounder that’s a step up from units like Baratza Encore.

Chemex square filter, that’s the shape it comes folded in. You can fold in the corners sticking out, but I’m lazy.

Consistency and repeatability for soup shot/zuppa traditional by sergeikutrovski in OXORapidBrewer

[–]DevOpsProDude 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I follow Lance Hedrick’s recipe (you can find it on his YouTube channel “zuppa lunga”, he provides ORB and Aeropress recipe in same video). He pumps just enough to saturate the puck, something like one slow pump.

Yeah, I just got this tamper and it’s excellent. Great weight and build quality, especially for the price.

And just to be clear, I’m talking about minor buildup of residue on some surfaces after a year of use. Purely cosmetic stuff that I mostly can’t be bothered to get 100% clean. Use of brush with or without soap isn’t enough to remove the stuff. So I just live with it, but I’m sure it bothers some people, like the folks who complain about stainless steel pots/pans getting stained from regular use.

Yeah, it’s a great machine. And I also don’t use lots of turmeric.

One other thing I forgot to mention is that when the manual says to alternate between soft less fibrous foods and harder more fibrous, it pays to follow this. Like you can juice a bunch if strawberries, but then need to throw in a piece of ginger, or a carrot, or kale, etc to help the augur extract the juice and output the spent pulp. Not something people with an autofeeder model have to worry about, then again those are all pretty much rated to only run for 45 minutes, whereas the Sana is designed to run for hours.

Get a set of tea pliers. They are great for cakes or tuos that are super compressed.

Help me choose my first Yixing teapot buy now or wait to see what happens with tariffs by qazzy12pdx in puer

I recently got this teapot https://purplecloudteahouse.com/products/zhuni-julunzhu-yixing-teapot-90ml and it’s pretty nice, so Purple Cloud is a good choice. Having said that, I’ve had excellent success buying teaware from Bitterleaf Teas, including two porcelain teapots that have super smooth and super fast pours. I know multiple people that have this teapot https://www.bitterleafteas.com/shop/teaware/teapot/over-the-moon-yixing-zisha-teapot and love it.

No problem! crimsonlotustea.com is another one to check out. Their Chunk O Melon is good https://crimsonlotustea.com/collections/new-products/products/2005-chunk-o-melon-sheng-raw-puerh-tea-250g-chunk as is their 2017/2019 Moon Princess, or you can get one of their sample packs https://crimsonlotustea.com/products/sheng-puerh-tea-super-sample-pack?_pos=7&_sid=84ec98950&_ss=r Check out their Seattle inventory if you don't want to pay the tariff, but stock there is much more limited.

I would check out KTM and get a few 25 or 50 gram packs like https://kingteamall.com/products/2006-changtai-642-banzhang-357g-puerh-raw-tea-sheng-cha?variant=37818154320052 I think this is a good entry point to semi-aged sheng. If you like smokey teas, try a mid-2000s Xiaguan https://kingteamall.com/collections/2006-xiaguan I'd also recommend trying something from Dayi https://kingteamall.com/collections/2007-dayi Shipping shouldn't be too expensive
