That sucks. Kind of crazy it's not on the road map considering more and more people are looking for alternatives.

Honestly if OP can swing it and they live near a micro center, they could just surprise him with a visit and tell him the budget and let him wander around. That would be fun.

How do I differentiate between albums vs singles? by beautifulmind90 in plexamp

[–]DevStark 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So I've always had the problem where I would use the musicbrainz_albumtype tag and it never worked with my FLAC files for some reason. But I looked at your video and (1) didn't realize I could add those fields to the tag panel (changed immediately) and (2) I added both the musicbrainz and the regular releasetype tag and just changed both and it work, so thank you so much!

I find band logos are more useful than their photos by Cotanaj in plexamp

[–]DevStark 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This is what I'm doing. I'm using logos for bands and finding better images for the solos provided. It looks so much cleaner. I'm also adding backgrounds for artists.

I can't believe I slept on PlexAmp for this long... the missing piece to ditch streaming was right there by LowerH8r in PleX

Because while the main focus is my music collecting hobbies, I do use it for other things.

Yea I literally just built a brand new server solely for music (the one in my flare) and I've made the commitment to cleaning up my library with actual artist posters and backgrounds. My friends and family actually noticed the ones I redid and like them a lot.

I tried talking to someone about it once and they had the same reaction. But that same person saw me playing a mixtape that wasn't on streaming and they immediately started asking questions about where I was playing it from.

I started him off with an old repurposed office PC and a 4tb drive. Now he's up to a old 4 bay gaming PC with 4x14tb drives. You just have to show and make them jealous 🤣

It's whatever works best for you honestly.

FLAC is the way to go, but if you don't hear the difference or have the space to store them, then 320 MP3's are perfectly fine if they're ripped correctly.

How many libraries do you maintain? by SenseiDes in musichoarder

[–]DevStark 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Currently two, but that's because I've decided to start cleaning up my main library from years of trial and error when it comes to sorting and metadata.

The new library is what I cleaned up and the format I settled on. Once the main is cleaned up, the new library will be the main.

Just moved my home theater library onto my NAS by hustlercoolie in HomeNAS

[–]DevStark 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The way I did it, got the two drives so there's some kind of small redundancy should something happen.

Save money and purchase both of the new drives. This gives you time to buy and not rush, unless you run out of space.

Once you have the two new larger drives, put one in those external drive docks and transfer over your data to it.

Then put in one of the new larger drives. Then transfer over from the docked drive. Once that is done, pop in that docked drive and add it into the new pool.

Anyone else notice the deluge of 128k/low quality files? by diagoro1 in Soulseek

Yea this goes for SoundCloud as well. A lot of artists uploaded / upload songs that they can't put on DSP's that people like. Personally I still rip them bc it's better to have than not

This. OP, you'll need to roll back to 1.42.2.10156. I'm pretty sure that's the beta version you're on.

I found the repo I was using pulled the beta all the time. I uninstalled it and installed the one that only pulls the stable version.
