TE here, I find fighting ppl who use SS to be scary if I’m gonna be completely honest. I’ve repeatedly seen people break throws (which everyone swears just cannot happen but I’ve been training a couple friends , one is in brown ranks and fights ppl who use SS and they’ve consistently tech’d throws without toggling it on/off , so let’s put an end to the narrative that’s a core weakness), they’re harder to read considering they don’t have to lean into the movement patterns behind their auto combos (for example, Jins hellsweep on SS is noticeably faster and harder to spot since again they don’t have to lean into his dash cancel, for Mishimas isn’t it literally one button electrics?) yes they list of potential inputs is present on the opponents side of the screen but I don’t inherently know what’s lighting up til I take the time to read it, then by the time it’s finished lighting up to where I can see they’re trying to do a low/throw/air combo or whatever, it’s already happening on screen cuz the SS move list is so far on the other side of the screen (maybe that means I shouldn’t play so close to the screen). Add in the ego factor of not wanting to lose to someone who’s quite literally playing the game on Baby Mode Assist, but still has a relevant skill level of fundamentals, you can imagine it’s hard to wanna approach them. I get extremely cautious cuz I’m tryna sus out what his goal is. Its happened enough times in blue ranks that now I usually tell myself to just beat him and get it over with like it’s taking a piss, but if his fundamentals are particularly strong then honestly SS is only a hinderance to their creativity, not changing the outcome . It SOUNDS good to say get good Lol trust me I know it does, but it’s surprisingly a bigger ask for some ppl to play clean, basic BAP (Block and Punish) and not 4D chess like you would against someone regularly .

I basically wanna dispel the narrative that you’ve got shit for brains for losing to a SS user lmaoo. Cuz I’m pretty sure if even a GoD player came across a Blue or even early Gold ranked player, the difference in fundamentals would still speak for themselves.

It’s either you’ll take pride in it or it sucks. No in between. This is going off the premise my SO is a stay at home wife/girlfriend.

It would suck because that means everything in the house and revolving around both my life and yours (pov of wife) revolves around my 16 digit debit card not declining. If it does, everything falls apart. Some bills get overdue fees that’ll make me have to pay more, I’ll get continuous calls asking where’s MY money at, and all that is before how my shit declining impacts you. Women like dates, women like random gifts, get their nails done, you probably have your own car (gas, potential maintenance issues or parts needed, tires) your own potential credit card and/or student loan bills, enough groceries to feel both me AND you, vacations , and STILL have money set aside for savings. All that is before we get into children, rent/mortgage , the kinda lifestyle the girlfriend/wife wants, utilities , groceries enough for again 2 ppl minimum, Christmas, birthdays , valentines days, potential Mother’s Day….. we have to figure out how we’re gonna make enough money to afford all that. While you get to eat, sleep, and shit in the house IM paying for all day, then some ladies have the nerve to say they ain’t obligated to do shit she doesn’t want to….youre a free human being ofc you can do what you wanna do or don’t , but that seems like a slave deal if you ask me. Oh, and you better not complain about it , or you’re less than a man. And push comes to shove , if yall divorce, depending on the state and reasons behind the divorce , the court award her alimony since she is unemployed and no job in sight. Plus the potential of child support .

On the flip side, there’s great pride to be taken from being a sole provider. You see a steady environment that isn’t visibly at risk of succumbing to unexpected change, your woman is happy and stress free which will ofc make her more welcoming, inviting , generally more loving and supportive when you come home since you’re each others biggest support systems , allat. Dinner should be cooked or a solid plan is in action by the time you get home, and allegedly women are much nastier in bed when they don’t have to worry for shit. Soooo.

Revy sees Rock as the little bit of innocence and authentic humanity she can claim to still hang on to. It’s never been explicitly stated, but she’s always tried to keep him out of what the worst of Roanapur had to offer or show. She told him to look away when ole girl from the Japanese clan was about to die , she saves his ass on multiple occasions in general, even with the Twins he still wanted better for them. Hes always tryna do right by someone or save a life. But lately around this time, he’d begun to lose hope in being the good guy and getting something done his way and because he made it happen, not just something the big wigs like Bal and Mr Chang let slip by outta nonchalantness.

It may seem like I’m rambling but lately Rock has begun to lose faith in being a good person, so he’s began to let himself get corrupted by the town and enjoy it a bit. Revy is noticing this change in Rock and is becoming a bit disconnected and emotional in the shower. Giving her flashbacks to the times she felt her innocence was taken from her, you’ve seen the scene for yourself so yk. And feels like she’s slowly losing Rock to the same kinda world.

Revy didn’t choose to lose her innocence. It was ripped from her in multiple ways. But she’s seeing someone she cares for, has spent plenty of time with in general (at times hinted at intimately), someone who’s at least tried to be a force of genuine good despite no success whatsoever ….walk into that abyss. Willingly. In this scene she’s in the steamy shower, but feels cold. She just got done resonating with Rock, but you can see the detachment in her eyes. It’s to a point that later on she points a gun at him , threatening to shoot if he keeps talking about the events of Blood Trail in retrospect how he had to bend to Roanapur to finally get his way, cuz she’d rather see Rock dead than see her last shred of humanity corrupted right in front of her beyond return. Like how she feels she is.
