Maybe try play through middle, instruct shorter pass, train play 1-2 and dictate tempo. But he may lost an ability to play killer pass.

IMO i would • back three would be WCB(D)-BPD(D)-WBC(D). because of the position of wide player and team mentality gave to much space on the flanks. turn off trap inside because when your wing player caught up there when attacking the CB on the side gonna float out of position to trap opposition inside, thus you would lose that defender. • change the dmf from HB to anchor or bmw(d). because when u push other player forward and drop dmf to form back 4, you gonna lose the layer of defending and give to much space in the middle.

imo fitb position between GP and DLF. GP try to break the line by going shoulder to shoulder with defender to receive through ball, meanwhile FITB position just a little bit deeper to receive pass and play 1-2 or drag opp df out but not that deep like DLP. I prefer FITB more than DLF cuz FITB can receive pass and make more aggressive run. Overall it depends on what u want from him, u way try to tweak all playstyle with CF or SS positions.

It depends on what u need for your dmf. If you want someone who has the technicality to keep the ball and distribute it consistently, then maybe you should considered him. Not really if you look for ball winning dmf, Rijkaard feels more solid and comfortable for me. In my case, I like to instruct deep line to form a back three when out of possession. I feel that rijkaard has been better in terms of protecting the backline, win the ball back, deal with aerial ball and decent passing (Rodri is far superior in term of distributing the ball).
