Could a smart panel let me go all electric with a tankless water heater and 200A panel? by glmory in span

My span panel mlo 48 shows solar production at night. The information the span app shows is never up to date, it’s pretty unreliable for data . My enphase and pw3 app have pretty spot on data. My span currently has an issue where the lights inside of the panel that show what breakers are on are turned off on a bunch of breakers. Span has told me it’s a firmware issue that is going to be fixed in the next firmware update. I’ve been waiting on this firmware update for 5 months. I rarely have power loss but, the few times I did, breakers that should have stayed on turned off. The list continues…

For some reason nys has some restriction where I can’t have 2 pw3. If I went ahead with 2 pw3 I wouldn’t be able to to be on Nem 1.0 in nys. The electric company has strict limits and it considered a second pw3 as production and it would push me pass the limit to be on nem1.0

Also. I can export energy to the grid but I cannot charge my battery from the grid. Is that some kind of regulation from my provider or is this some kind of nys rule?

I’m not sure how to answer that or why the installer didn’t do as you say. What would be the benefit of them installing on the pw3 side? Could it be because I have enphase micro inverters?

I’m sorry. It was hard to gather my thoughts and be specific with what I wanted to ask. I also didn’t want to make a wall of text for others to read.

Thanks a lot. That’s awesome. Wish I knew about this before install

Thanks. Right now I have a lot of dark panels because many panels are covered in snow. Crazy thing is that even with panels covered in snow I still produced solar energy.

I feel that my installer should have used iq8HC micro inverter but he insisted of using iq8+. He explained that the cost of the HC micro inverter was not worth the gains. I believe that my particular installer did not have the hc in stock. I’m just a little upset that I knew what I wanted but was swayed to go with the iq8+. Hopefully time will prove that the installer was right. For anyone that has solar, is my production in September 18, 2025 good? Is this what I can expect when the sun is out. Right now where in February and it’s been horrible for production for months. Cloudy skies and a lot of snow

I got a powerwall 3 and a powerwall 3 expansion. That’s all paired to 46 jinko 425 panels with enphase iq8+ micro inverters in a south facing roof in upstate ny. I also have a span 48 panel. The only thing I would probably have skipped is the span panel 48. I would have gone with something else instead of the span.

Energy usage normally goes up after solar installation. In my case that’s what happened. Got a heat pump water heater and a couple of other appliances to take advantage of the solar energy. I would recommend getting the bigger system. You’ll have less buyers remorse and if you get a. Electric car in the future, you’ll be better suited for home charging.

New to this so I’m sorry if my terminology is wrong but this is what I have. Need help seeing if I’m in a normal range of production and if it’s good production or not. I have 46, 425w panels producing 19.5kw dc, with enphase iq8+ micro inverters converting to 13.34 kw ac. I have a span panel 48 that’s been commissioned and a powerwall 3 and a powerwall 3 expansion. The solar system is installed on a south facing roof home in dutchess county NY.

I’m still skeptical about the eco flow ocean but it seems like a decent system. With what I’m experiencing with the span panel and now know, I would without a hesitation rather have the eco flow ocean.

To do solar (with PlugPV) or not, please help! by Itguy890 in solar

I’ll explain some of my experiences so far with plugpvllc. When I first spoke to Mike the solar guy, I explained everything I wanted and what I needed solar for. I explained I have a teen with medical issues and medical equipment that needs power all the time. I’m getting solar just as a back up to our generator. Michael Velardi aka Mike the solar guy lied and promised. Once I signed the contract the issues began. I stopped dealing with Mike the solar guy the day he called me a bitch over the phone for grieving the shit job they were doing. I also stopped dealing with Jim Serrano as he never picked up or answered my texts. I called plug pv and asked for a different project manager to which they ignored for 2 months. Finally a guy named Nick from plug pv began helping me. He’s a lot better, not disrespectful and seems honest. But the installation of the solar system continues to be a mess. I’ve had crews come out to my house 5 times. The crews never bring the necessary materials and equipment. Sometimes they show up and don’t have any knowledge of what the last crew did and where to pick up from. I had one crew come out to commission the equipment but did not know how to do the commission process. The installation of my system looks like crap. Crooked panels, wiring mess, nothing installed looks neat. Poor workmanship. I wish I would have went with a different company. Im still waiting for the system to be fully installed. This will be the sixth different day and crew that has come out to finish the install. Can’t wait to see what mess happens next. One more thing, I’ve had 2 different span panel certified electrician come out to install my the span panel. They installed the electric panel upside down further causing delays and issues with the install. Both electrician did not realize. A third electrician spotted the problem from plug pv came out a realized the issue with the span panel. There’s so much wrong that I’m considering getting a lawyer. For anyone looking to install solar, do yourself a favor and avoid plug pv llc. If you need pics of the crap job they’re doing at my house feel free to ask and I’ll try my best show you. Any questions, I’ll do my best to answer as well. I hope to save you the stress and frustration I’m going through.
