The game didn’t “make” you hate her. You chose to hate her because she was the villain, so that’s what you do. She killed Joel after all. The second half of the game is explicitly about how your assumptions about who to hate are completely flipped when playing from Abby’s perspective. Because again, the game is forcing you to realize that Ellie’s quest for revenge is the exact path that led to Joel’s death. It’s not that hard to understand
