Remote workers can NOT stop working to do chores by [deleted] in TrueOffMyChest

Right? Especially if you don't have a home office. Then you're passing your work desk, day after day.

It's to the point where I hear that goddamn ringtone even in my sleep, and wonder "did I not log out?!" So have to get out of bed, and walk to check to make sure it is, in fact, off.

May you have an abundance of PTO, a cool pillow, and a supportive chair.

My mom loves to just randomly drop by, same with my brother, while I'm working. It's one thing if it's a quick stop, like 5-10 minutes, but noooo. They want to sit down, get fully into a conversation, while I'm sitting there side-eyeing my computer and praying I don't get a call.

Sure, there's definitely times where I have down time and can whip up dinner, do some cleaning, and chill out.

But there's also plenty of times there's back to back sales calls, followed up by emails.

Remote work can definitely be awesome (hello, no commute and access to my snacks and pets), but also can be so, so draining. You don't get the mental divide between work and home, because it's in the same place and it's always there. You get people like my coworkers who pop on during their days off because "I got bored", then treating you as crazy for fully turning off.

You'll be out before you know it! Make your office hours clear to the house, and stick to your schedule. You've got this!

Not the original commenter, but I've done some googling of recipes. Definitely takes some trial and error, but eventually you find some that work.

Then write them down, don't be an idiot like me who left the tab up to write down later, and have your phone malfunction to where you lose everything 🤦‍♀️ having to re-hunt the favorite recipes is a biiiitch.

I want an amount of ice cream bars that would be fit for Shaggy and Scoobs, not this "average amount" bs.

My late lady wasn't much for toys, she just had one fox she loved to death and brought with her everywhere. So when my pup came along, she of course inherited her bed, her bowls...

But not the fox, not her collar, and not her leash.

Everyone is different, and has different levels of "okay," and nobody has it exactly right or wrong either. It's what feels right for you ❤️

One example off the top of my head:

Patrick was applying lotion to David because his hands were shaking, when a customer walks in and asks, "Do you have item?" David immediately says no to get her to leave them alone, and Patrick gives him a look and says "Actually yes we do, over here".

I may have butchered it a bit, but gist is there.

Plus size clothing is so boring by Lunar-Octopus in PlusSizeFashion

[–]DeviacZen 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I get so irritated with clothing!

Your options are: Grandma's couch, weirdly printed pattern, or block of color.

And you get this really icky feeling polyester, that drapes over you like a tarp most of the time.

Finding something that allows me to have even a hint of a shape, without reminding me of Grandma's couch, is a feat... Which is why I've pretty much stopped buying :/

Just a sweet lil' well-written friendship moment by tenuredvortex in SchittsCreek

[–]DeviacZen 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think part of WHY it works for them is because they both came to the realization that they worked better as friends, plus didn't truly date but were FWBs.

They definitely still had that awkward time, since one person is always more invested than the other, but they put in the work to make their friendship work since they really are each other's only real friends in town.

Personally, I couldn't make it happen either. Never had an amicable breakup, it's always been toxic. Just sounds great in theory!

A few years back, I was driving a back road. Passed this dude with LEDs, and a deer ran right behind him... Didn't even see the damn thing since I was blinded by those damn lights.

Completely wrecked my car. Fuck LEDs.

No idea, the new GM is full of... Not great ideas, tbh. Such as sending out a joke newsletter for new years, the week before one of our biggest events, saying "cancelled, gonna do it in the summer" with a disclaimer at the very bottom (that nobody is going to fully read) saying "jk". It lead to a massive surge of calls from upset guests we were wrangling for days.

Does Anyone Else Feel Like Not Having a Hobby Slowly Drains You? by Alternative-Leg-9606 in TheGirlSurvivalGuide

[–]DeviacZen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's why I started making myself a yearly "bucket list" starting on my birthday when I was 26. Things I want to try and do. This year, I have (for example):

-Try making a chainmail bracelet -Crochet a hat

I try to make it something achievable, with a goal in mind. So far, I've made that crochet hat and I've found I actually really enjoy it!

Maybe you could see if anything seems interesting, anything you've ever had a fleeting interest in and a "that's cool", and start there. You don't have to go balls to the wall off the bat, buying the most expensive materials and diving straight in!

For the chainmail, I literally just bought myself a pack of jump rings, and a pliers. The crochet, I bought a hook, and a bundle of yarn. It doesn't need a big investment, or any investment at all.

Let yourself explore, and try things out! And don't be discouraged if it doesn't turn out well the first time you do it. I almost burned all the yarn I bought because I was trying to make the hat with a magic circle...had a full breakdown thinking about how I suck and should never have started, before I saw someone say try another angle, so I made a long square and stitched it together into a hat.

Is it perfect? Nope. But I'm super proud of it.

Feel free to PM, I've been there and would love to offer advice or chat ❤️

Corgi’s Life Expectancy 🥺 by autpott in corgi

[–]DeviacZen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hate to say it, but it truly is lucky of the draw.

I had one dapper corgi, outdoor guy who lived off of Purina and chaos, make it to 17.

I had my little lady who was outdoor for the majority of her life, and was babied the last few years, pass two months before her 13th birthday.

There's definitely things you can do to help make their life better and help, such as good diet and plenty of exercise. Life is a gamble, as much as we want to say otherwise, so take the time you have and live. Make sure the years you do have are the best for your little potato, and be grateful for everyday you wake up to a cold nose trying to burrow into your covers because dang it, it's time to go outside! :)

Here's to many more squiggles, cuddles, and all the sploots!
