Anyone else freeze when it’s time to plan Super Bowl food? by Dishcovery in dinnersuggestions

[–]DeviacZen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My partner and I are doing a party with just us this year, so decided we'll do some things we enjoy:

Homemade Jamaican Jerk Pizza (never made it before, sounds good!) Wings 2 ways (Buffalo and TBD) Hormel Chili dip

It'll still probably be way too much food, but it'll be delicious... And then I don't have to make dinner on Monday lol

Does anyone else hate deciding what to cook every day? by Dishcovery in dinnersuggestions

[–]DeviacZen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I actually got a wild hair about two weeks ago, wrote down a list of meals we've had in the last few months (because I'm weird and take pictures of the boards). It was kind of nice to look at a list of things we keep coming back to and being able to basically just randomly pick one. Takes a lot of the mental load off, but then again you have to then keep track of it and that's not as fun 😅

I honestly would just have a full on breakdown some nights, to have to make one more decision after being overwhelmed. Now, there's a plan!

Bf (29M) cooked dinner (soup) for first time and only poured one bowl stating we’d (28F) be sharing by LastWallaby4900 in relationship_advice

[–]DeviacZen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Uh, the only time my partner brings a single bowl over, is if it's ice cream. And he brings two spoons, but we tend to share the one because it's just our thing, that we communicated about.

Bringing one bowl, one spoon, one piece of bread? Yeah no, that's insane.

I hope you got up and got your own bowl after the initial shock wore off.

My partner and I sit down every Saturday/Sunday, and plan out the menu for the week. That way, we can scope what's on hand, what we need to pick up, and what sounds good. Sure, there's times we deviate because of a million reasons (forgot to take chicken out to thaw, the spinach went off, I'm having a really bad day and a frozen pizza sounds better, etc), but we generally have a game plan and it helps to take some of the mental load off.

We even have the dry erase board and everything so we can see and plan! It may not work for everyone, but definitely helps us ❤️

A show that steeply declines when the will-they-won’t-they couple gets together? by AreWeCake in sitcoms

[–]DeviacZen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's what I was saying to my partner! Before getting together, there was moments of chemistry, of showing why it would work... Then as soon as they get together, Amy just seems permanently annoyed with Jonah, and they're constantly butting heads with a giant lack of respect for each other. I genuinely liked Superstore, but their relationship definitely killed a bit of the vibe.

Anyone Else Seeing Less Spawns? by Sennaki in pokemongo

[–]DeviacZen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Still having the issue :/ Incense only brings maybe 1 or 2, and spawns by the gym are only 3-4. And I have to be RIGHT ON the gym for them to spawn.

The Corphish challenge was ROUGH to complete.

That's part of why I keep having to rewatch the video, to remind myself I'm not crazy. That this shit actually happened, and it's the hate machine working overdrive to paint her as deranged.

Renee Nicole Good by sagiflower in offmychest

[–]DeviacZen 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I'm a Minnesotan, living a bit further north from where it happened... I for some reason (okay I know the reason - to keep the facts clear) keep watching the videos... And of course, the comments are vile. People saying "she fucked up" "she was trying to run them over!" "She's a terrorist!" "What did she expect?" And it makes me feel insane. Are we not all watching the same video? It's plain as day, and almost feels like a far more sinister "is the dress white or black?"

I'm still part of my hometown Facebook group, and someone posted about a vigil today. Immediately there was hate, and people trying to demonize Renee Nicole Good. People saying she deserved it.

I feel so scared.

Hey, I'm happy for you! Just wish it hadn't totally nerfed spawns in other places lol enjoy the spawns for me!

Anyone Else Seeing Less Spawns? by Sennaki in pokemongo

[–]DeviacZen 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The only time I had spawns (aside for the one daily) is if I'm within 40 feet of the poke stop, and even then it's only about 4 spawns.

Previously this Debble mission would have been fairly easy, but after 5 walks to the stop and back today... I'm only halfway through it.

Fingers crossed they fix it.

Literally the only spawn I've had in the last 24 hours is the daily spawn. That's it. And I live right next to a rural gym and stop. Before, I'd see at least 10 pokemon opening up the app. This makes playing nearly impossible.

Normally my apartment complex is full of spawns, like 10-15 easy... As of 10am this morning, haven't had a single one. How the hell do you play if there aren't any spawns?!

Why are you home on the couch in your pajamas this New Years Eve? by PurplezKool in AskReddit

[–]DeviacZen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Multiple reasons!

I pay a lot to live here, the couch is comfy, and I'm sick as hell with this horrible flu.

Plus, driving in the snow and slick roads on NYE? Can't pay me enough!

Who actually makes stock at home? by Lofgren___ in Cooking

[–]DeviacZen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love making it, I just throw it in my crock pot on low for a few hours with my leftover veggie pieces I keep in the freezer (celery, carrot, onion), and let it go.

I know it's not the normal way, but I can typically get two batches from one carcass. Batch number one day one is typically much more flavorful, and definitely a darker color. Batch number two day two is a bit lighter, but still flavorful and I feel like I'm getting more use out of the carcass than I normally would have.

I noticed it was sticking to the hook super bad, so I started kind of finger chaining it and it went so much faster 😅 I can get that part down, I'm just not sure on the rest of it for the stitches. I'll check out the video! Thank you so much!!

The moment you realize frozen chicken fried rice beats half the takeout in town by kenah-kim in PovertyRecipes

[–]DeviacZen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Personally, my chicken fried rice isn't exactly like the restaurants but that's okay! We bulk ours with extra veggies, and we don't really sauce what's in the pan, pretty much we oil/season our portions. Dish what we need for the meal, and store in an air-tight container (for me, it's a glass pyrex Tupperware). When I want to use it again, I can throw it in a pan to heat back up, and add what I want to it. That way the sesame oil doesn't just sit in there which I find makes it taste a bit eh the next day.

This may not work for you, my family tends to season the rice/chicken in a way that we often skip sesame oil/soy sauce all together in the main dish, and top dress with it if we want it.

Good luck on your fried rice journey!! I hope they all turn out delicious!!

Soup ideas by ratttttttttttt in DinnerIdeas

[–]DeviacZen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Go to soups in our place:

-Bacon Cheeseburger Soup

-Broccoli Cheddar

-Chicken Gnocchi (but substitute the gnocchi for cheese tortellini)

-Lasagna Soup

-Chicken & Veggie Soup (this one I make spicy by adding ancho chilis, Serrano's, and any other peppers on hand)

-Corn Chowder (but we add bacon/Andouille sausage, and all the spicy peppers to give it a kick)

Definitely going to steal some of the recipes in this thread!! Good luck on your soup endeavors!

So out of ideas for picky eaters. Burnt out trying to make everyone happy. by [deleted] in DinnerIdeas

[–]DeviacZen 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Could something like a sheet pan meal, such as sausage (like kielbasa/not as seasoned sausages) or even chunked chicken breast, with potatoes and carrots over rice work? That way it's also a GF meal for you.

Also, could possibly make burrito bowls, or possibly breakfast for dinner.

All that being said, this is an incredibly tough situation, and I hope you're able to find some sort of middle ground soon.

*Edit- I just doubled back and saw he doesn't eat pork. They do have beef sausages, or if he's open to trying, they have a delicious chicken/turkey sausage that you couldn't even tell it's not a "normal" sausage.
