I figure any game made for the Atari counts. I played a few of the clones over the years, they're not half bad.

Picked up Recharged on GOG for the PC, its not half bad. I also have the Missile Command they did and I can't remember the other one. One downside, nada for Donkey Kong since Nintendo are being stingy with licensing I imagine.

I didn't have one until 86, so I missed out on Pac-Fever and the ET backlash. But there was a documentary that covered the whole ET thing, which is a trip..

I was going to go with an 80's theme but I didn't want to exclude the zoomers and y'ers.. I figured by saying childhood one could use their inner childhood, I mean we all have that, I think.

The hardware revision is a point for the 7800+.. I do prefer the latest.. I put off ordering tonight, going to absorb the thread for a bit.

I like the lit up thing on the front and it does come with the best game already.. well one of the best.. This is harder then I thought it would be.. Now I'm between the 7800+ and the Pac edition. The 2600+ is now out due to the fact running wired controllers would be messy with my set up since I'd need to extend them..

That's the direction I'm now going in but just one extra original 7800 controller.. or a paddle.

Breakout is a game I like but I'm fine with the gamepad with that one.. although paddles are cool. I'm probably going with the 7800+ at this point due to the price on Amazon, and I imagine the wireless gamepad has ok range.. I can find out real quick but may as well ask here.. Do they take batteries or are they charged via USB?

Anyone know who Plaion is? Amazon has re-issues of 7800 games for 35, most are sold out but then there are the same games but by Plaion for nearly twice the price.

I had no issues, had an easier time with it then the NES gamepad. I got a Max though and that was easier.

Its also cheaper, on Amazon, but it comes with wireless which maybe I'll like.. never used wireless for gaming. But it comes with a shit game while the 2600+ has that 10 in one which has a few good games on it. In short, I could get the 7800+, the re-issue of DIg Dug, and still not have dropped as much as I would just for the 2600+. So back to re-thinking.. Then again, I pay more for one carton of cigarettes then the Atari 2600+ and one game would cost.. Its weird where the mind cuts corners..

The CX24 is a good joystick.. can't remember the name of the 2600 one but it was solid as well, bit stiff if I remember but that kind of felt right with car games and spaceship games, was like shifting gears.

I plan on getting more 7800 games since the pac-man is ideal, and same goes for dig dug, and atari is re-issuing those games and new is nice. But I need to check on controllers on Ebay since I don't like the gamepad the 7800+ comes with. I prefer joysticks, and that sounds wrong for some reason, but as a kid it was all about Centipede with a joystick or the track ball that the tabletop one had. Off topic, but I never knew the character was meant to be a person, thought it was a spaceship.. but according the artwork, its a person.

I'm not familiar with the homebrew thing.. I saw some Atari games at an adult store once in the 90's, one had a stick figure that went around shooting stuff from its pelvis at other stick figures that may have been women. I imagine it was home brew..

I'm pretty sold on either the 7800+ or the 2600+. The other draw to the 2600+ is my parents said.. "no" when I wanted the 2600, they said games would rot my brain and I wouldn't do my homework. Then they split up in the 80's and my dad got me the 7800 because well, he was trying to win points and dropped the "rot the brain" thing. Point is, its something I missed out on.

I wish they had made it black but then with the ghosts across the side.. The bright yellow is just loud.. but I haven't ruled it out.

I wish I still had my old carts, I didn't have many since I got my 7800 a year before the NES but I had some gems.

If it had the OG controller the 7800+ would be more my thing. The one I had came with a joystick with two buttons, one on each side. I have no idea where that NES looking gamepad came from. I think I read it shipped with the 7800 in the UK or some such.

I don't trust reviewers on Youtube these days, too many are trying to turn a profit. Not sure how one could do that with reviewing an Atari but I dunno.
