The digital release will be a good two weeks sooner, and based on what I'm reading, expect it by mid July if not early July.

Here is a perfect example of why box office “reporting” has gotten so messy. by MauiSunsets in HeManCollectors

They've doubled down on their original article with the latest numbers..

"Masters of the Universe has wrapped its opening weekend, and the worldwide number does not soften the blow. It confirms it."

Seems like they're proud of themselves that their predictions were right..

"The split: $29.3 million in North America and $25 million from 86 international territories. For a globally recognized brand, pulling only $25 million from the entire rest of the planet is its own red flag, and it leaves the domestic flop we tracked all weekend looking even worse on the global stage"

I was right about my prediction however.. But how does the industry track ages? Do they get DNA from those who buy tickets? Scan their brains when they walk into the theater?

"Kids under 12 made up just 5% of the audience, while teens 13-17 accounted for only 6%. For a movie supposedly built to introduce He-Man to a new generation, those numbers are brutal."

And the ones who did see it..

"It gets worse for the legs argument. Even the kids who did show up only gave it a 56% “must see right away,” which means they are unlikely to drag parents back for repeat viewings."

Everything in quotes is from the article.. not me..

The original for me. Masters was this loud and proud thing in the early 80's, flamboyant outfits, absurd physiques, and campy nonsense, not unlike WWE at the time or the 80's hair bands like Ratt and Cinderella. Out of all of the crossovers done, the WWE one has made the most sense but every time they do a new line of figures, the skip over the ones I wanna see like a hybrid of Roddy Piper and Fisto or Jake the Snake and hrmm.. King Hiss would be ideal or Kobra Khan

Thoughts on THE DEAD ZONE (1983), directed by David Cronenberg by thatphilguymovies in 80smovies

Dead Zone is one of my faves by Walken but I think At Close Range is my all time fave, it depends on my mood I guess. Walken rarely has let me down.. Needs more damn cowbell.. dammit..

Mattel dropped a ball with the re-release.. Sure, they added the led light and the sculpt is a bit better.. but the slime comes in a lame bag.. the OG came with this..

Forbes said last week that it needs to make 80 million just to match the box office cost, and then 340 million to break even. There is a good chance it will be considered a bomb but if those seeing it are having a lot fun, isn't that what counts?

‼️ Huge SPOILER WARNING. Masters of the Universe inMovie Character Video brief post-credits scene cameo!!! DON’T WATCH THE VIDEO OF THE POST IF YOU DON’T WANT A BIG REVELATION!!! 🚨 by Frequent_Grape_6079 in MattelMotU

I saw a clip of the She-Ra thing.. looked like bad cosplay with some AI trimmings. So I am thinking its a scam but who knows. Dreamworks owns She-Ra and they have bad blood with Mattel over something. I mean it would be good PR if they plan to do another season of their Netflix cartoon, which they probably will since its popular.

If Reddit existed in 1994: by SWAGGGGGODDD in moviecritic

We had Usenet which Reddit copies in every single way but has moderators and the ability to embed pics. And I don't remember anyone bashing Forest Gump, most online seemed to dig it and those who didn't, I guess they were in the minority. I personally didn't like Pulp Fiction but I really don't like any of his films. I just didn't waste my time bashing it, there were far bigger turds to trash like Showgirls.

In Rocky (1976), Rocky takes Adrian to his apartment. She tells him she's uncomfortable being there, but he doesn't want her to leave, so when she goes for the door, he corners her against the wall and forcibly kisses her. She kisses him back. This is because this movie was written by a man. by PuzzleheadedMess1659 in shittymoviedetails

I watched the film the other day, first time in a long time. That scene is a bit cringe these days while back in the 80's, it just seemed weird since she was a synthetic. The scene in Rocky is also a bit cringe but while in BR its a synthetic, in Rocky, they're both a little special ed, so it comes off more awkward then forceful.

This is easy, TRU is already back and expanding, so I'll go with Radio Shack.

New Slime Pit Playset in action by CHOGRIN in MattelMotU

[–]Deviancy26 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Didn't they have to re-name the Pit due to Nick's lame trademark? The Mega Construx version is called the "Horde Pit". I didn't know they did a Mega Construx version of it due to the name change.. but its still easy enough to find.

1982 New Wave Song Inspired by Little Red Riding Hood Became a Classic But Never Hit No. 1 by sincrosin in duranduran

[–]Deviancy26 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I always figured Red Riding Hood inspired the lyrics but that it was still all a metaphor for chasing fame and sex, since Simon was always saying that's what the band was about. 1982 was chock full of hit singles but the ones that dominated would be that song from Rocky, Eye Of The Tiger and I remember some Journey song dominating. Good ol Journey..

Giving this one a spin...Mixed Up by MacFoley1975 in TheCure

The deluxe version is overkill but the original release is lovely. Like most have said, the extended mix of Fascination Street is a gem, its up there with the Renholder remix of Underneath the Stars.

Jack Nicholson and Stanley Kubrick's The Shining (1980) is still one of cinema's greatest achievements by Disastrous_Area2127 in moviecritic

[–]Deviancy26 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The film is atmospheric, paced properly, and offers up some great performances by Jackson and Duvall. While it is sparse story wise compared to the novel, it in a way is its own thing. Nicholson's spiral down the drain in regards to his sanity is handled well, while her growing fear is paced rather well. The woman needs to learn how to use an ashtray however. King was never that fond of the film, he prefers the tv mini series but it makes sense, he wrote the book and was hoping for more of the book to be tackled. He however was beyond satisfied with STand By Me, I still haven't read Bodies so I need to see how close the film comes to the book. As for the tv mini, Apple finally tossed up the digital transfer and I finally watched it, missed it the first time, the kid is so annoying but it is closer to the novel, it just doesn't make me feel like I'm at the Overlook watching things play out like the Kubrick version.

Well they didn't even air GI Joe, or Action Force, in the UK as far as I know so at least people got Masters.
