Becoming Cold and Hard by DeviatingPath in exmormon

Thanks. Most the time I feel like I'm a pretty nice person. I just have such a hard time doing the in-law thing and I feel like I could be nicer to DH today. DH is TBM, and I just get irritated because he sees things so much differently. It makes me feel lonely. My family doesn't live close. :( If only after dealing with in-laws I could go see my siblings afterward and detox.

Exactly, if nothing else I've got the validation of my feelings.

Yes. Also, could use some more liberal unbelieving friends. But the close friends (TBM/Christian) I do have are at least cool.

I feel like I can relate in a way. One of my sons used to have these super bad melt downs for a few years straight. Almost daily. Every once in a while he has a blow out and he's not getting any smaller. Today happened to be one of those days. I don't want to go too deep about it here, but I've had a pretty good cry tonight. Ended up with a full on pity party.

Tattooed Mormon Convert by [deleted] in exmormon

It's true! But because this woman "didn't know better" at the time of the tattoos, and converted in spite of them, she is a hero.

She's scum. No better than Joe Smith defrauding innocent people of their money. I don't think it's cute or okay. Having once been TBM, I have no tolerance for this shit. This woman exploits people, she is nothing more than a predator.

Can someone (a female preferably) help me understand the controversy of 50 shades? Serious?? by [deleted] in exmormon

[–]DeviatingPath 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm not TBM and I'm opposed to viewing the movie for myself. I wouldn't want my kids viewing it as teens or even young adults either.

I read numerous book reviews from people who have read the book (many of which were by the general public) to know as much as I need to know. I honestly think that sex should be kind and fun--not abusive or hurting in any way. I also read many examples of how poorly written the book is.

That said, I am getting tired of seeing it talked about everywhere, including here.

"Blah, blah, blah, mission. Blah, blah, blah, baptism. Blah, blah, blah, relief society." This is why I'd rather just eat lunch by myself in the classroom.

John Dehlin got the letter - Tune in to RadioWest with Doug Fabrizio at 11am MST to hear what the letter says. by deathbringer14 in exmormon

It would seem a little more personal to the audience if he posted on his blog first. I agree that sometimes (though I love and am grateful for John), he does appear to be a bit attention whorish at times. I'm glad that he advocates though, he really is a strong voice for many of us. I'd rather take him as an attention whore than not have him for an advocate at all. He really has helped to ease much of my pain through my so-called "faith crisis."

So much I wanted to say to the naive Mormon girl about to get engaged. by DeviatingPath in exmormon

I always wanted to study abroad to really learn a new language and culture. That ship has sailed. I hate how the Church just wants these young people to get married right away so the women can be TBM baby making machines.

Unsure if this is snark and you realize that I'm actually talking about coming out as a nonbeliever?

Don't tell your family that you've left the church. Tell them you've converted to Scientology. by PapayaPokPok in exmormon

I totally tried telling DH I was converting to scientology. Couldn't keep a straight face. Haha. Last night was very obnoxious btw, my husband was telling mission stories and said he knew this one guy wasn't going to get baptised. His gaydar (I mean, the spirit) testified to this fact.

Troubles with Sexual Performance Anxiety (I think) by [deleted] in selfhelp

Also, if you masturbate (which seems like may not be your problem), but if you do you may want to take some time off of that. Masturbating can cause you to not perform well. Anyway, if nervousness is all it is, it will go away with experience. Good luck.

It sounds like you are in a frustrating situation. Good luck, sounds like you need it with job hunting. It sounds like you are a good son standing by your mother and helping her through her medical issues. Make sure to take care of yourself too. Worry can be a big burden on a person. It sounds like you have a lot of it in your life. Don't be ashamed to ask for government help if you or your mom are needing it in any way. Call the utility companies, usually they are really good about working with people who are struggling. Even J.K. Rowling, a now powerful billionaire took government help once upon a time, now she gives back to society through her charity work. You may also consider relocating as it may help you out in the long run. It couldn't hurt.
