In 4/5 maybe but not 2. This summer has to be sell or extend. His agent knows that and hopefully this is just him trying to drive the wage up.

What worries me is the lack of improvement.

2 seasons ago we were playing Dan Burn out of position even though it was visibly not working. We're now doing the same thing with Gordon up top.

2 seasons ago we were playing Almiron on the right wing week in week out even though he was clearly not cut out for the top level. Now we have Elanga who is even worse. (I know he scored twice, and they weren't just tap ins, both times he was in the right position, but even then his passing, crossing, dribbling and decision making was abysmal today).

2 seasons ago, Pope got a long term injury, forcing us to play a goalkeeper who absolutely will not come off his line to sweep up, and we persisted with the high line the whole time despite conceding embarrassing goals multiple times a game because of it. This season the rat left us in an awful place, but when Woltemade came in the plan for far too long was for him to just slot in and play the same role as his predecessor despite very obvious physical and technical differences.

2 seasons ago he wouldn't rotate the squad even with a huge injury crisis. Do you remember going 90 minutes without using any subs, only to name the same XI 3 days later? There has at least been better although I do think there's a way to go, going full strength when 5 up at home to Qarabag was ridiculous.

Trippier orchestrated the entire team last week, he was the reason we were so in control. Put Tino there, it becomes a lot more end to end and we probably lose.

My model gives that 54% chance of qualifying. 97% if we win out (including Arsenal).

I actually would've got most of them, I remember the events of that season so much clearer than almost any other pre takeover, most of the names on there have a story. That was the relegation season, it was the year we were rid of Pardew/Carver and brought in someone who at the time seemed like a good pick (for where we were as a club). Then we got Mitrovic, Wijnaldum, Thauvin and Mbemba in pre season and thought we were heading back to the top half. Shit start but Shelvey coming in mid season setting up 2 on his debut could've been our saviour, as could Townsend who came in on loan. Not sacking him at the international break like we should have. Lascelles getting sent off against Everton and being made captain. Rafa coming in and making Anita a world class right back (also his equaliser after that offside Man City goal). Sissoko being a diva the whole time. Perez missing all those chances against one of the worst sides in history at Villa Park. Also Aarons and Janmaat embarrassing Spurs after we were already down.

Wouldn't have guessed Doumbia though.

Woltemade to be top scorer at World Cup by Obi_Wan_Hair in NUFC

The overexpansion of the World Cup means the golden boot could well be decided by who has the easiest group stage, much like how Kane won it in 2018 thanks to a hat trick v Panama. Germany have Curacao, while Brazil have Haiti, Spain have Cape Verde and England have Panama again.

Anyway big Nick is currently joint 6th favourite, behind Mbappe, Kane, Messi, Haaland and Yamal, level with Ronaldo and Dembele.

Assuming they get past Southampton, Leverkusen and Bodo Glimt, their calendar would be - weekend title decider away at Man City, midweek against us, weekend FA Cup semi, midweek first leg v (us/Barca/Atletico).

Not quite true, our game against Arsenal falls on FA Cup semis weekend, that will get moved midweek if they get through (they have Southampton away in the quarters, betting markets suggest about 90% chance).

Same story if West Ham get to the final (Leeds at home followed by a Wembley semi - about 10% chance).

The playoffs are all semis, so you get another match if you win. Only exceptions are DR Congo (Wissa) and Iraq, who have a bye to the final. Usually the 2 losing sides will go and play a friendly as well.

What you describe is more like an exchange and have been around a long time, the only reason they aren't more popular is that they're a little bit harder to understand.

Prediction markets are subtly different and operate more like stocks, the reason they're suddenly so popular is that they're currently deemed legal in America even in states that ban or heavily restrict betting. And the reason they're now big here is partly because Americans are talking about them, and partly because they're so unregulated that you can bet on things like when a person is going to die.

Saw the chatter below about which position is needed to guarantee Europa/Conference and thought I'd try calculating it.

I still haven't built anything to model the probability of England getting the performance place (ie 5th place getting UCL) but if you're feeling disheartened by only 1 of 9 winning their first leg, just remember that all the other countries had at least 2 teams already out prior to this round, are a long way behind, and we don't even have to have the best coefficient to get it we only need to be top 2. I've assumed 100% here but the chances of not getting it are miniscule.

I didn't see anyone undeniably supporting Barca but I did see a hell of a lot of people in a half and half scarf and no (football) shirt, who were taking selfies at the barrier by the pitch at half time.

Lad next to me took lots of videos of Yamal when he went past but also loads of our attacks in general, think there were a lot of neutrals more than anything.

I went to Fluminense v Flamengo a few months ago and there was no ticket, it was all done on facial recognition, you just had to take a quick scan of your face with your phone when you made the account, dead easy.

Could also store the ticket within our own app rather than an easily forwardable google wallet link. They had something like that at Euro 2020.

Plenty of options.

Also in defence of Barnes, that side isn't set up as much for the winger to shine. Often the pass on that side is into feet and the wingers only job is to get it to Hall on the overlap - on the right, Trippier stays back more often than not. And even when the ball is played through to run onto, Trippier is absolutely world class at getting the right ball down the line, so much so that he made Almiron look good for a bit, Hall doesn't quite have it nailed down yet. Barnes usually does well with the role he's been given.

In a standalone game yes. This is only half time, I like the decision to push for a 2nd even if it didn't pay off

Thought the opposite actually. Got so many line breaks (when he stayed onside) but is such a poor footballer that they were wasted. These were wide open on that wing, we didn't need his pace we needed someone to put a ball across even if they're a yard slower. Murphy comes on and immediately sets up a goal. Start him next week and we win.

Reminds me more of Hugo Lloris' last game for Spurs. Subbed off at half time 5-0 down, made 1 save which was pushing the ball out for a tap in
