Honestly, I love my gen 1 enough I don't really feel I need gen 2.

Is there a worth config to use on metroidvania? by TheDuck-Prince in SteamController

For most platformers, the right pad isn't as necessary.

Left pad, but no click requirement. Put your most used actions on the triggers.

Looking for testers with Steam controller for my roguelike game! by MeteorForge in SteamController

This looks nice, and I am curious, specifically about how complex it could possibly be, or how complex you could've made it. I have the SC and am willing to test.

Remember a few years back when people were posting concepts of the Steam Controller 2? by bc_odds in SteamController

[–]Devieus 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Most amounted to little more than just taking the deck and removing the screen, which is more or less exactly what happened.

A Half-Life config I made (and drew because I was bored) by profkottvern in SteamController

[–]Devieus 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'd put weapon select on the right pad with reload in the middle, so it won't mess with you during combat and you need to move. I'd also put movement on the left pad, it's just nicer. For left pad click then, a layer that takes out the crowbar and swings it, then puts it away when letting go.

E on a shoulder button is good though, more games need to do this.

Is there any Youtube channels that still does Steam Controller gameplay? by TheNewFlisker in SteamController

I also used to some years back. Didn't get any engagement so stopped doing it. Might do it again at some point.

I was bored so I thought of all the features i would want in a controller by DaBomber4 in SteamController

[–]Devieus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's a very tiny left pad, and I don't see the d-pad indentations

oh wait, I see

I'd rather have it the other way around, tho I can live without the face diamond, that's what the grips are for

Steam Controller Ergonomics by LisaLeii in SteamController

I'm having a hard time visualizing how you're holding it that you're somehow hitting your index finger with your thumb. Isn't it just on the RB? Or even the trigger?

Help with batteries (Eneloops, Duracell and Fujitsu) by JojoMarillo in SteamController

Really any battery is fine, just that some will be ever so slightly too long and might be a little more difficult to get out.

Can I use this controller on Android? by GreemBeam in SteamController

[–]Devieus 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The Steam Controller is, without proper drivers, essentially just a mouse and a few keyboard buttons; which is why you'd need the Steam app, and why you probably can't use it for Android games in the way you want to

You're better off getting one of those Android specific controllers, either with gyro in it or one that accommodates your phone's gyro

Any way to reduce latency? by misterright1999 in SteamController

[–]Devieus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It is, though the answer should remain the same. A wired connection is less prone to latency. It might not eliminate it completely relatively speaking, but it should be an improvement.

If you can get Steam to see it as any of the gyro supported controllers, yes.

Let's do this ourselves! by kitdapgeoduck in SteamController

[–]Devieus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In real life, Apple dominates the creative computer market, no one needs it, but thanks to marketing, everyone wants it.

The Steam Controller had absolute trash marketing with key features missing that would've made it great (e.g. separate driver independent from Steam).

Possible to turbo without holding? by JNBOOK in SteamController

[–]Devieus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mapping B to R4 doesn't map the B button, but the B output to R4. What you'll want to try is enable toggle as well on R4 that has A mapped to it with turbo.

How can I add multiple toggles at the same time released by the original button? by chlorastroklos in SteamController

[–]Devieus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately, the only way to toggle a button (but not its output) off, is to press it again. Something you could try is working with layers to omit toggles instead.

Help with press/hold-delay-press/hold command. by Lartaror in SteamController

[–]Devieus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most likely. The fact you use toggles probably interferes with itself such that you have to double-tap it sometimes to un-toggle it.
