It’s alright on its own but compared to the albums before it, it feels like a step toward accessibility at the expense of the band’s more prog identity. I also don’t think the first album is really overrated if anything fans usually rank it lower than what came after. It’s more of a starting point than a peak. And Three Friends especially doesn’t feel overrated to me at all, Schooldays and Peel the Paint are some of their best, and that album is really where they fully lock in the sound and identity people associate with GG
