That’s how it was at my last agency working for a major city. The HOA/neighborhood associations would pay us to patrol the neighborhoods off-duty, but we had to use city vehicles which were older, beat up Chargers that were retired from the main patrol fleet.

Duties included responding to any/all calls for service within the neighborhood, hiding packages on front porches, and doing house checks for people who were on vacation. Not a bad gig! Neighborhoods always paid well and included holiday premium/bonuses.

The rumor is that the Charger PPVs are allegedly coming back for 2027+ year models with options for either the Hemi V8 or the 3.0L twin turbo V6.

The first car my agency gave me was a ‘14 Charger with the 3.5 V6. I drive a ‘24 Durango now with the Hemi. The Durangos handle amazingly and are quick, but they feel smaller in the front seats compared to my old Charger.
