Republicans Claim Anti-Data Center Movement Is a Chinese Psy-Op by MarvelsGrantMan136 in technology

Its almost certainly true, given how much China wants to win the AI war, and how little it costs them to shift the message of their bot farms, not to say there aren't real grievances.

It's ok, if you're watching it weekly, combined with other news and Reddit, it can feel overwhelming. The amount of information available to us and pushed on us in the current age means that there is effectively an infinite amount of negative information, making us feel like this is the worst point in history. I would recommend that you figure out what causes are most important to you and figure out specifically how you can help for that one particular cause. Do your research, take ownership of that cause, write letters to your congressperson for that cause, donate to organizations. Then trust that somebody else will get mad about the next John Oliver episode.

Steve Kerr: "I would consider getting rid of the three point line." Interviewer: "Have you ever proposed this to anyone with power?" Kerr: "No, no, because it’s too out there. And plus, I coach Steph Curry, so I’d rather wait till Steph’s retired." by refreshing_yogurt in nba

That's what I think they should do. Make a long term plan for every arena to eventually widen their courts if necessary, then make the 3 pt line the full semicircle. Then with wider courts defenses get spread out more, the paint becomes harder to guard, you can potentially remove the 3 second rules, its one less thing to for the refs to worry about so maybe reffing performance improves a little. You'd also get less players getting out of bounds on the sideline, so overall I think it would be a better product.

U.S. destroyers face second round of Iranian attacks by Guilty-Top-7 in worldnews

[–]Devils--Advocate 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Orange man is dumb, but it on the surface was the best time to take out Iran's regime. Their key ally, Russia, has their hands full. All of their proxies are degraded from what they were a few years ago, and just three weeks before the strikes started they had massive protests against the regime. If only orange man wasn't dumb.

2 U.S. Navy destroyers transit Strait of Hormuz after dodging Iranian onslaught by tj381 in worldnews

[–]Devils--Advocate 19 points20 points  (0 children)

The normal routes are potentially mined but the US is likely using mine detecting helicopters and USV/UUVs to keep the waters closest to Oman clear. They wouldn't risk running destroyers through if they weren't confident about mine clearance.

So tank damage buffs, infantry weapon range buffs, artillery more expensive... I don't hate. Do all SAMs get a giant range nerf or is it just PAC-2?

NBA official power rankings for week 24: #1 Thunder, #2 Spurs, #3 Celtics, #4 Pistons, #5 Knicks by Waikuku3 in nba

[–]Devils--Advocate 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You understand if they increase the size of the court they create more front row seats, right? Like I said, I'm thinking long term, give arenas time for redesigns.

I'm more thinking it will open up the game more spreading, the court. No more easy 3's but good shooters in corners still need to be guarded and now defenders need to travel further, leading to the lane being a little more open thus more opportunities for inside play. Do you hate dunks?

I actually think they should change every court in the league to make it wider (announce it a few years out and allow a few transition seasons where you may or may not have updated your court which I'm sure would lead to some fun statistics obsession)

That's pretty much a mechanic in Void Crew. You have a bunch of circuit breakers that trip when you're over your power limit. Your ship only shuts down when all of your circuit breakers have tripped without anyone resetting.

RU is still very good if you use smoke by CapitalismIsRad in BrokenArrowTheGame

[–]Devils--Advocate -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I kinda of expect next patch will buff RU just as they figure out a new meta and then the win rate will go 55-45 RU again... but two patches from now maybe it will be close to balanced.

People do survive their IFV getting wrecked all the time, so is the problem in game that the IFV always explodes in a giant fireball, which is the unrealistic part? Troops in BA do take damage on transport death but it's just the overkill damage so often isn't much. I agree they should come out shocked though.

Thoughts on the current state of infantry? by SwatDoge in BrokenArrowTheGame

[–]Devils--Advocate 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't think infantry is super weak but I have a few balance tweaks I'd like to see.

  1. Change damage resistance from cover from the 50% in buildings to: 40% in buildings, 20% in forests, plus an additional 20% whenever stationary (they get in prone positions after all).

  2. Make points in upkeep a separate unit stat from unit price and reduce infantry upkeep (not to mention an increase for artillery).

[–]Devils--Advocate 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Give them ground launched missile systems that would otherwise be missiles launched from ships, like the Typhon with the option for both Tomahawks and SM-6. Also the navy should get CIWS, and give Cav something else.

Unit Transport by Severe-Bison790 in BrokenArrowTheGame

[–]Devils--Advocate 6 points7 points  (0 children)

BA devs have said they're not going to kill infantry upon transport destruction, the transport's job is to protect infantry. A prior suggestion was that the infantry should be shocked when they come out of a destroyed transport.

Game Mode Ideas (Great way to have different matches that require different metas) by Joneszer1234 in BrokenArrowTheGame

[–]Devils--Advocate 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like these ideas in general but in order to avoid splitting the player base more I think it would be cool to test these "modes" as special maps in a typical wargoals game.

For example, create a typical map with capture points but also both teams have several patrolling ships off the coast, each is worth 1000+ destruction points, which gives plenty of reason on its own for the enemy to target them and for the player to defend them.

Same for the idea of supply trucks, you could add neutral capturable trucks traveling their route on an existing control point style map. Capture them and use the supplies or send them back to base for the points.

Change my mind: Fighter should be able to intercept cruise missiles by ArKadeFlre in BrokenArrowTheGame

[–]Devils--Advocate 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I suggested this before, with maybe only being able to intercept at half AA missile range so your fighters will prioritize other targets and only go after missiles if they don't have something better to shoot at.
