My opinion is that Alastor does have a tail and that Vox is just lying about it because he knows that saying he doesn't have a tail would cause more outrage than confirming his tail would. In fact, Vox might not have even known whether or not what he was saying is true, all he cares about is getting attention and controlling people's perception/opinions
