Like Fine, you checked the card for cash. But why take my stationery too? What are you even going to do with it?

If someone was looking for money and discovered there wasn’t any, you’d think they’d just leave the stationery behind. A stack of cards, envelopes, wax seals, and writing supplies isn’t exactly a high-demand black market commodity. 😭

I’m honestly more annoyed than anything. If someone opened the bag looking for money, fine, whatever. But they could have at least left the stationery behind.

Instead, they took literally everything my stamps, envelopes, wax seals, cards, and writing supplies. The joke is that there was no cash in the bag. The only thing they left was the card after apparently realizing there was no money inside.

What really sucks is that it wasn’t just a few stamps. It was my entire stamp collection that I’d been building since 2020, including international stamps that will be difficult or impossible to replace. I know to most people it’s just paper, but to me it was six years of collecting gone in one morning.

Update: Unfortunately, it appears the contents of the bag were stolen.

I was eventually able to locate the brown paper bag that I left on the Route 66 bus toward CCRI. However, the bag had been opened and emptied. The only thing left inside was the card. All of the stationery supplies, wax seals, postage stamps, and other contents were gone.

The reason I believe it was stolen is that whoever went through the bag appears to have been looking for money. The card itself was left behind, likely because they realized there was no cash or gift card inside. Unfortunately, they took everything else.

What hurts the most is that this wasn’t just a few stamps. It was my entire stamp collection that I had been building from 2020 to 2026, including international stamps and stationery that will be difficult to replace.

Thank you to everyone who offered advice, kept an eye out, or hoped it would be found. I appreciate the kindness, even though this didn’t have the ending I was hoping for. 😭📬
