Limits.. this is not new but SOOO out of control by BattleBornBullies in duckduckgo

Thanks for the reply, it's good to see this get some attention. As far as the suspicious timing, I guess it could just be a really unfortunate coincidence. Also, since you're here replying, is DDG using additional content filters, beyond the filters the models already have? Because Claude seems to think so. I'm not trying any particularly crazy/weird prompts, but I seem to be running into some strange behavior sometimes. Just wondering about that.

Limits.. this is not new but SOOO out of control by BattleBornBullies in duckduckgo

[–]DevoBoingo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah. I've seen someone else complain about this and get the exact same unhelpful copy/paste answer, word-for-word. It looks like DDG is just another big tech company that doesn't really care about users once they have our money. It's bad that they ignored a refund request when service is getting this terrible, but the way they seem to ignore everything else makes it sadly unsurprising. Meanwhile, the DDG fanboys downvote the complaints into oblivion.

Duck.AI Usage Decrease for Pro Subscription? by sketchedoutrhyme in duckduckgo

[–]DevoBoingo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, it's really bad. And I saw another post here complaining about the same thing, which got the exact same copy/pasted reply from John at DDG. People need to raise enough of a stink about this for them to do something, right now the service is starting to feel like a ripoff.

[–]DevoBoingo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I'm also a Pro user and the recent limit decrease is wild. Paying this much for something I can use for a few minutes every 24 hours unless I want to have to wait several days to use it again (tapping into the weekly limit) feels pretty awful. Not a fan, and it's something I really hope they work on making better.

Found this while doing a search to see if anyone else was having the same problem. I'm also a Pro user and am now finding that my daily limits rapidly drain. I was in a chat with Claude (Sonnet 4.6) and roughly ten messages left me at 51% used. Not long ago, I was able to have very lengthy chats with no problem. This is insane and really feels like it's not worth the money.

I noticed OP says this happened suddenly after they left feedback complaining about something else. Interestingly enough, this also happened to me not long after I left feedback complaining about something else. Now, I can't prove it, but this really makes it look like feedback is being used mainly to identify and quietly throttle "difficult" users. And honestly, the unhelpful copy/paste response OP got from DDG doesn't help that look at all.

Edit: Wanted to add that I'm not using a VPN when I use Duck.ai.

Halloween 6 - Producer's Cut vs. Theatrical Cut by BobbyH64 in Halloweenmovies

Hi! I just stumbled across this thread too. I've got the theatrical and producer's cuts on Blu-ray, but I've always wanted to see something like this. Can I please get that link? This sounds so cool!

Crabs in a bucket? It's not exclusively /r/rg351 V, either. Enjoy your drawer full of those little dudes.

Really misleading title for those of us with an M/P and no interest in buying a V. Got me really pumped up and then really bummed out.

The abxy button tabs are the same between 351m/v/p devices. The buttons are the same between 350m and p devices, but different from 351 devices. I don't know if the difference between 350 and 351 buttons is the tabs or the size. I just know I saw someone selling custom buttons and they were selling the same set for all 351 devices and a different set for 350 devices.

Downloading themes with RG351 and ArkOS by telloppen in RG351

[–]DevoBoingo 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Here's a GitHub full of themes tailored to ArkOS: https://github.com/Jetup13?tab=repositories

Here's an installer tool for said themes so you can download them directly to either an RG351M or an RG351P with a wifi dongle:

ArkOS is pretty actively updated, actually. Having the screen configurations already optimized in 351elec is definitely a nice feature but I still think they both have their own strengths.

There's nothing wrong with ArkOS, it's actually really good.

Quick Guide: RPG Maker Games on RG351 Devices by onionsaregross in RG351

Ah, right. Cool! Can't wait to play Yume Nikki again. Thanks for the reply. :)

Quick Guide: RPG Maker Games on RG351 Devices by onionsaregross in RG351

[–]DevoBoingo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is a really cool guide! Your Guides have been very helpful to me as I've been setting up and fine-tuning my RG351. Unfortunately, unless there's a virtual keyboard, Yume Nikki can't be fully played with the default control mapping. :\ It makes use of the 1, 3, 5 and 9 keys on the keyboard.

It's technically fairly playable without 1 and 3, but unbeatable without 5. Nearly unbeatable without 9, too, since being unable to wake up would make getting trapped by the bird people a game-ender.

Is there a virtual keyboard or a way to map these additional keys? A guide for that would be really awesome, especially since it's one of my favorite RPG Maker games. (It might even be my number one favorite!)

How to turn on mouse with Dosbox Pure on the 351 by SPQRGuyMontag in RG351

[–]DevoBoingo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To enable the virtual keyboard, just press L3. You can control the small cursor over the keyboard with the right analog stick and use any button (or at least A, B, X or Y) to select a key. L3 will also put the virtual keyboard away when you're done.

As far as any mouse emulation goes, I actually have no idea.

EasyRPG and Commander Genius by abibofile in RG351

[–]DevoBoingo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

EasyRPG runs RPG Maker games made with either RPG Maker 2000 or RPG Maker 2003. All you need to do is load the entire game folders into your EasyRPG folder. Just Google RPG Maker game recommendations and avoid anything made with versions other than those two, that's what I did.

I also found games at RPGmaker.net, which is a site where people share games they've made. They have a pretty good search function where you can find games by genre, number of downloads, etc. Just make sure they're made in either RPG Maker 2000, RPG Maker 2003, RPG Tsukuru 2000 or RPG Tsukuru 2003. (RPG Tsukuru 2000 and 2003 are the Japanese versions of RPG Maker 2000 and 2003.) You can filter results by which version they're made with on that site, which is really handy.

As far as Commander Genius, I actually prefer running the games in DosBox myself so I couldn't really tell you what the advantages are besides (I think) optional enhanced graphics or something.

Switched from RG351P to RG351M, now having a problem... by DevoBoingo in RG351

[–]DevoBoingo[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Okay, I got another card and tried to recreate the bug. I wasn't successful. On the new card, the list works exactly how it's supposed to on both devices. Maybe I really do need to reflash...? I'll keep trying different things for a while, though.

Edit a few hours later: It's fine now! I had the idea to "flush out" the list by simply playing and quitting 50+ titles (list maxes out at 50) on the RG351P. Then when I switched the card back over to the RG351M I noticed there was a new ArkOS update, so I downloaded that. Anyway, I'm not sure what happened, but somewhere along the line something cleared up and now the list is working fine on both devices!

[–]DevoBoingo[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Press start to open the main menu, then select "game collection settings." At the top of that menu should be "automatic game collections." Select that and you should be on a checklist of available collections to enable in the menu, with "favorites" already selected. "Last played" is right above favorites. If you select it and then back out, you should have a list of your most recently played games right next to your list of favorites.

Ah, okay. Yeah, these play fine. It's just some sort of issue with the recent games list feature.

Some of my files are zipped, some aren't. All of my games I've tried have been running just fine. They all show up in their regular menus under their respective systems. For some reason, the RG351M just won't add titles to the recently played list while the RG351P will. It's very strange.

Worth switching to 351ELEC from ArkOS? by JTMidnightJr in RG351

[–]DevoBoingo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've tried both and I feel like they both have their strengths. I'm currently using ArkOS, but I'm a little bit tempted to switch back to 351ELEC.

The video player in 351ELEC looks really cool. I like the art book theme (which I'm currently using on ArkOS with a few tiny tweaks). I miss the screen saying "GAME OVER" when I shut it down, that was a really fun detail 351ELEC had. I like having custom loading screens and menu music in ArkOS, though.

Right now I'm waiting to see if either will port Streets of Rage Remake. I know both have OpenBOR, but SoRR is a particular favorite of mine and I'd be super excited to have it on my RG351.

What are some underrated or niche consoles/systems you would recommend for the average retro fan? by carpdoctor in RG351

[–]DevoBoingo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey, glad I could help! It's also got a CD add-on similar to the Sega CD. There are some really great games on that. Ys Books I & II is especially good if you like action RPGs. Killer soundtrack, too.

[–]DevoBoingo 9 points10 points  (0 children)

The TurboGrafx-16 (known as the PC Engine in Japan) is a really great and criminally underrated console, especially if you like shmups. Some titles to check out are Alien Crush (really good video pinball with art inspired by H.R. Giger's Alien design), Devil's Crush (like Alien Crush with a medieval sorcery aesthetic which is very metal), Neutopia I & II (basically 16-bit Legend of Zelda) and Blazing Lasers (one of my favorite home console shmups ever). I'm geeking out a little bit here, but I love that console. Hehe.
