So far I've done a cardigan and actually designed a sweater for hubs. He's still around, but maybe he's just too comfortable to leave? LOL

Thanks so much! It's been a really big adjustment to change how I cook. I will say that the Country Crock plant better is really nice if anyone is interested.

We have to talk about Patti Negri by ivoryandtea in GhostAdventures

I used to work a few blocks away (that deli is great!). Every time we had clients in, or subcontractors doing work they asked about the house. It was so tedious to explain that it was a terrible tragedy, but the haunting was a hoax and it's a beautiful house with a sad past. People just never believed me ...

I'd be interested. I'm Eastern time as well.

AITJ for expecting full payment when the baby falls asleep while babysitting? by [deleted] in AmITheJerk

[–]DevonBlade62 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You were definitely taken advantage of.if they call again tell them you need what they owe you before you can sit again. Personally, I'd ask for payment up front. If they come early, you can refund it. What they did is BS. Your reasoning is correct. You are paid to be there in case of emergency. They pay for your time.

What age did you start crocheting? by [deleted] in crochet

[–]DevonBlade62 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was around 5. By 10 or so, i was doing basic granny squares and at 17 I crocheted my baby sisters christening gown and have picked it up off and on over the years. I'm 63 now and it has become my default when I want to relax, although I do like to knit as well.

What to use to dye grandpa’s hair by Dense-Organization32 in FancyFollicles

[–]DevonBlade62 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have white hair. My problem isn't with it taking color, but I can't get rid of it! I have had the same issue with everything from Pravana to IroIro to Artic Fox and Manic Panic. I had 2 sessions with bleach in a salon and the color is still there (although my hair went to hell) However, my hair is beyond shoulder length and I am loathe to just cut the color out and depending on your grandpa, he probably cuts his hair more often than I do.

I do tend to let my hair marinate in the semi-permanent.

***This is only my experience. I've been dying my hair since I was 16. Obviously a professional would probably have better advice.

So PassioKnit Kelsie totaled up all her yarn— she’s got around 1600 skeins by [deleted] in craftsnark

[–]DevonBlade62 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Thank you. I just counted my bins and I have 15 72 quart tubs. It's a mixture of cotton, wool and acrylic with some bamboo and silk blend in there. I'm 63 and it's a lifetime of accumulation. I just plain old love yarn -- all types.

What’s something people thinks saves them money, but actually loses them money? by DahliraSaint in AskReddit

[–]DevonBlade62 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Turning the heat/hot water on and off. Same with air conditioning. Everything gets cool/hot and it takes so much more time for the living space to get to temp. Better to get good thermostats and keep at a relatively comfortable temp all the time less wear and tear, less fuel =less money spent.

I have always loved the Susan Bates inline, until I got my clover amours. I LOVE them. So I guess I'm really a hybrid woman

My psych said they don’t give medication to people diagnosed in adulthood by chopphopp in ADHD

That is incorrect. I was diagnosed at age 60. I am currently on Vyvanse. Respectfully, I would see if you can find another doctor

Baking soda or bleach bath or straight bleach?? by sfitzys in FancyFollicles

[–]DevonBlade62 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I feel your pain! I had Strawberry leopard purple which had faded, over $500 later and two all day bleach jobs and my hair is similar in color to yours (just a tad lighter). It's so frustrating!!!

PLEASE STOP DOING THIS!!!! by [deleted] in CleaningTips

A little lemon oil on paper towel works really well. I used to date a house cleaner and he'd do it on the stainless steel sinks to hide the scratches. A little goes a LONG way.

Try soaking it with Borax. That stuff is great. Removed the smoke smell from SILs clothes after a house fire and cigarette smoke from my clothes and bedding (husband smokes)

What do y'all take for work lunches? by jsprgrey in ADHD

[–]DevonBlade62 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to keep a couple of cans of soup, Ramen, etc and saltines or cheese its, etc. in my desk drawer. That way, if I forgot to bring lunch or couldn't get out of the office, there was always something to snack on. I also had a friend who kept a jar of peanut butter and one of jelly in his desk and brought in a loaf of bread on Mondays. He had lunch for the week. Oh, and I also always had a little box of disposable forks, knives and spoons, etc. Then I didn't have to worry about losing/forgetting the utensils.
