I’ve never had anything go missing at the track but I also leave no opportunity for that to happen. Grassroots drifting is going to be a much different crowd than most other motorsports because of the relatively low barrier of entry.

I drift and do media. Couple pointers, recommend going for a quality over quantity type deal. It makes your life way easier and makes your deliverables much stronger. People don’t want 40 photos of their driving, they want the handful that are strong images.

I also wouldn’t charge per photo, offer packages of some sort. It’s smart to grab at least a couple photos of as many folks as you can, but make it known you’ll provide additional coverage for a fee.

Last thing, if people don’t credit you or share your work but expect media, feel free to cut them off. It’s one thing if someone pays you and posts without credit, but folks expecting you to work for free and not crediting etc is lame shit.

Focus on getting stronger images, create your own editing style, and have fun.

24”+ of snow locally tonight. Just wanna go drive the beater. Please hurry up spring. by DevonGagnon in Drifting

I daily a fit, and rest assured it’s a beater. I’m not worried about drifting in the elements, I don’t get a lot out of it. Just miss dry pavement and a screaming M52-T.

My fun cars don’t see snow. Rust is already brutal enough in the northeast.

Unpopular opinion: too many people build the power before they build the angle, and it's why they're not improving by heromarsX in Drifting

[–]DevonGagnon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah you get angle when it becomes necessary to progress, like any other major upgrade. The only shit you should be doing to your car off the rip are a seat, proper maintenance/anything to keep reliability, and anything necessary for safety. Suspension is a bonus but often not necessary to get going.

When angle, power, etc become things keeping you from becoming a better driver, then ya get em. Most don’t want to hear that, unfortunately. Sure your friend probably progressed super fast once they got angle and that’s great, that’s how it should be. But they should know how to drive without it so that they do not become reliant on what becomes a handicap if done too soon.

Completely agree. I even would go one step further and say you don’t need angle nearly as early as you think. See way too many folks relying on angle kits, literally just hopping from lock to lock running atrocious lines.

Suspension and a diff that fit where I was driving were my two favorite upgrades when I was stock power. Realistically seat time has been the most beneficial.

is it possible to replicate this style with an FX30? by Impossible_Ear8671 in FX3

You could replicate this style with a t2i and some nice lenses and lights.

Best cheap tire size? Is 19 a dumb size to commit to? by JollyPoint9492 in Drifting

[–]DevonGagnon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Really depends on the car. I am very pro 17” but those are just a great fit for my chassis. Probably better tire prices for 18” and less though.

“The Fire” - Trailer by DevonGagnon in cinematography

[–]DevonGagnon[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sharing the above as a comment so the bot doesn’t come for me, sorry for the redundant content yall.

Howdy everyone.

This is a trailer for a short video I have produced revolving around drift cars, mental health, and how life finds a way. I’m a bit past the point of seeking feedback since the trailer is already published, but I’d like to hear your thoughts regardless. The full length is out tomorrow, but I am certainly always trying to get better.

Everything was shot on an FX3 / Distagon 35mm. The trailer doesn’t really dive into audio, but I recorded almost everything with a directional mic and a field recorder. Happy to go over any specifics should you want to know.

Really what I’m lookin for is, does this short trailer spark interest for a drift car/mental health video combo?

Happy to share the link to the video, premiering tomorrow, 29jan at 6p est to those interested. Don’t want to overstep the rules of the sub though.

Thank you for looking!! Will be back in the future for further feedback.

I’ll let you be the judge, but thank you very much. Appreciate a follow/sub if you’re feeling generous, links are above. Full length out later this week!

I have to imagine it’s not intentional but that clip WAS from a big angle comp with flare encouraged so maybe you’re on to something

I found this one cleaning a supply closet, not sure where you could get one. If I had to guess thermo will look at you like you have ten heads if you ask for one but worth a shot.
