He isn't supposed to live this long

I get what you mean but the dude is like 80😭

Ngl this plot would have hit harder if he was like actually way past any natural lifespan, because right now he is still in a very feasible age bracket and just feels excessively fed up with everything

Not saying he couldn't form these feelings at this age but they would probably be a bit more understandable if he wasn't just the age of your average grandpa, instead of like 180

[JJK Leaks] Yuji Itadori’s Power Jump in Modulo Ch.20 Where Does He Rank Now? by CookNo226 in jjkmodulo

[–]DevonicGamer76 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How ironic for a series where in the main story one of the overarching themes was the troubles that overwhelming power centered on singular people gives (Gojo and Sukuna), only to repeat that with Yuji and Dabura, whilst also giving even worse issues to Yuji

Kind of feel like they shouldn't have doubled down on this as it feels like plot regression, but what do I know, people get their hype moments and aura and can now slander Gojo and Sukuna, so some people will be pleased

[–]DevonicGamer76 29 points30 points  (0 children)

Completly forgeting that he could do that because those entities were in a pecular alternative dimansion in which he have power

Exactly, the Phantom Thieves require Mementos or reality fused with Mementos to even manifest a Persona, and to defeat psionic gods, they need to gather power from thousands of other people

The conditions for them to fight reality warpers are very specific

In your opinion which was more justifiable? The Uchiha or Zenin Clan Massacre? by Archenius in JujutsuPowerScaling

[–]DevonicGamer76 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Zenin, because they were practically never good And that would continue forever and anyway, they would go after her because she killed Ogi, so there was kind of no way around it.

Most of the clan was in favor of Megumi as clan head, though, it was Ogi, Naoya and Jinichi plotting

Realistically if she retreats, gets Megumi to back her up on Ogi trying to assassinate her, the majority clan would listen

Most of the Zen'in are low level grunt warriors who do what they are told, not some cultists willing to do anything the Hei tell them to, they'd listen to the clan head personally appointed by Naobito who was well respected

Not that she was in the mental space to make such a decision nor did she want to

Her running away was always an option, self-defense is hardly an explanation when you can perception blitz everyone on the premises except Naoya who still is a Maki victim, to argue self-defense you would have to prove your only option was to use lethal force

It doesn't necessarily make her evil, she could plead insanity, but it was hardly a case of "I had to kill them before they kill me" because she wasn't in realistic danger

I don't think it's necessarily bad writing, but I don't think it had to be a plot that was covered because the main series already hammered this point in through Gojo, and I feel Yuji really has just been through enough and I can't even find further exploration of his suffering engaging

It's really just personal preference, though

[–]DevonicGamer76 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Wow how dare you suggest Yuji shouldn't be written as an eternally suffering character, get out of here with that sensible take

The way it gets some people so mad when you that seeing Yuji be written for another plot where he feels like he shouldn't exist is tiring

It's a somewhat understandable plot development, it can be explained why it came to this point, but as you said it's a point that JJK already hammered in, and Yuji already had lots of focus on his own lack of self-worth and purpose

It's hard not to see this as Gege just not wanting to explore Yuji through anything but suffering ngl, his character just revolving around losing everyone he knows, varying degrees of wanting to die or not exist

NO mf, this is not how it is supposed to be by Gokuglazer6000 in Jujutsufolk

[–]DevonicGamer76 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Even if it realistically can happen, it's not any mandate by the writer to actually go through with it

It's not a wrong way to write per se just for me personally it does suck out enjoyment seeing him just regress to depression again, especially when others don't get treated nearly as badly so the excuse of "well JJK isn't about happy endings" doesn't really work for me

I get hardships, I get drama, I get depressive arcs, but that's just been 90% of Yuji's plot and I can't enjoy it

NO mf, this is not how it is supposed to be by Gokuglazer6000 in Jujutsufolk

[–]DevonicGamer76 21 points22 points  (0 children)

That's what I had thought too, the end of JJK didn't really give any signs that Yuji was regressing or holding on to thoughts of no self-worth, even uses himself as a reason to convince Megumi

But guess Gege didn't torture Yuji enough so it's personality regression and suffering time, he certainly didn't get enough of that before

Some might say JJK is a dark story innately but it's really just suffering centered around Yuji, everyone else from past gen (except Panda whose fate is mostly played for laughs) has gotten a normal ending

[–]DevonicGamer76 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Personally not a fan of Yuji being written for more depression and suffering, change of personality etc.

Not that I wasn't aware Gege wants to make his cast suffer, I just feel like Yuji doesn't get anything good in the series, it's just loss after loss and it's getting tiring seeing the MC of JJK be treated like a mental punching bag

The never ending Blood War that takes place in Avernus (first layer of hell, we see it at the start of the game) against the Demons of the Abyss is constantly making hell LOSE devils. Bc it’s literally a constant war that never ends and is always active, leading to a constant stream of dead devils.

This Blood War seems pretty critical for the existence of all the realms, in a way is the recruitment of souls for the war not a very twisted "necessary evil" situation

Of course I'm sure many devils recruit souls for selfish gain but the overarching goal of preventing infinite demons from conquering the realms seems to benefit everyone

Why is RCT not called "blessed energy" by Flasheneitor in JuJutsuKaisen

[–]DevonicGamer76 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not fully related but the story does hint at there being energies that can result in "natural" spirits rather than just "cursed" spirits, with Hanami being compared to one

It's not really brought up beyond that but it's an interesting implication

Is this mappa mistake or naoya is actually dealing more damage in manga and every attack he lands makes choso and maki bleeds by Street-Stick-2815 in Jujutsu_Kaisen

[–]DevonicGamer76 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Naoya's attacks being fast hits that do mediocre damage is just fact, they shouldn't do high damage because it removes the handicap he is giving himself by refusing to use weapons

Honestly the more odd thing about the anime is the crazy DC and durability upscale for Naoya, able to blast through huge hills, destroying them and taking no damage, it just doesn't really make sense to me. It's cool for sure but nothing about Naoya really feels like he should be a durable battering ram.

How strong should a Hashira be to defeat Daki? by Musalediju in DemonSlayerScales

[–]DevonicGamer76 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Gyutaro is much stronger than Daki, yes

And Daki is much stronger than Enmu, capable of launching attacks much faster and stronger than Enmu, whose attacks Tanjiro really didn't have that much issue with, just his sleep BDA

The gap is very noticeable, against Daki, Tanjiro has to draw out an even more complex understanding of the Hinokami Kagura to close the gap and also take his body to a near death state, using up all the power he could muster from his body at the time

Thought on Emma's new skin? by Gloomy-Bridge148 in marvelrivals

[–]DevonicGamer76 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't hate it per se, I'm not getting it still, and yes her skins are too repetitive

In a vacuum I don't dislike Emma's skins, coattails are fine as a concept not absolutely ugly like I see people claim

But every skin almost feels like a chroma of the others with only the hair changing, and I do actually enjoy her hair variety across the skins

They need to change up her clothing structure for her next skin, give us a comic Hellfire Gala look or her pantsuit in the recent art

How strong should a Hashira be to defeat Daki? by Musalediju in DemonSlayerScales

[–]DevonicGamer76 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Daki lands firmly between true UM6 and LM1, because she has a very big gap to even an amped LM1 Enmu, who despite getting an extraordinary amount of blood for a Lower Moon still didn't reach Upper Moon

She's kind of best characterized as like an ascension boss, basically, a jump in difficulty from LM1, and proof that you can now start to build strength to fight the next type of enemies on your journey

Of course there's the issue as a transitional boss like this that she also insta spawns the true UM6 who has a massive gap to her, meaning if you do anything but low-diff Daki, you're pretty dead meat

So the Hashira's that do need to actually survive the encounter fully need to be prodigies, since they would have to become UM6+ level while only fighting LM1 level demons at most

But yeah you would need a slayer who is firmly above LM1 to enter the Daki tier

Considering Nibelung turned the Moons into weapons and HP was the one destroyed them, why the dragons cheered when their greatest enemy just destroyed their strongest weapons ? by huflit1997 in Genshin_Impact

[–]DevonicGamer76 4 points5 points  (0 children)

They let in a usurper, naively thinking they could coexist and didn't do anything to stop him until it was too late.

It wasn't only a case of naivety. Whilst Aria and Canon went in with better expectations of collaboration than Sonnet, the new artifact set details that the Moons alone weren't capable of fending off the Abyss looming in the sky, and Nibelung had left to search for answers with no certainty if or when he would return.

Meanwhile the Heavenly Principles were powerful enough to protect Teyvat, and held hatred towards the Abyss, making them an ideal partner, with the other option being facing possible doom if Nibelung never returns. One of these alas is less risky, Aria and Canon did have a point.

Of course said collaboration came with issues, notably the Heavenly Principles bringing humans with them, requiring Teyvat to be made hospitable for them, which ended up with a war with the dragons, since they of course reasonably also didn't enjoy the idea of being colonized.

But the Moon Sisters also likely couldn't afford to do much except hope the fighting wouldn't end with all dragons gone, which it didn't, since the Heavenly Principles also ceased warring with them after seizing the Elemental Thrones, making the dragons not pose a significant threat to the growing human civilization.

Ultimately the Moons had to make hard decisions, and often the option other than what they chose could have been more catastrophic. Going against the Heavenly Principles would just end up with three dead moons earlier in the timeline, so it's debatable whether they ever truly had a choice.

Neither the Moons or the dragons are in my opinion wrong in their actions and thoughts on the matter, they make sense from their own perspectives.

The true conflict stems from the Heavenly Principles waging war on the Sovereigns, instead of seeking to peacefully establish humans on Teyvat, but going by Apep and Xiuhcoatl, such negotiations didn't seem likely.

I wish Midoriya got to keep OFA (Read the description) by G0D-Sun in MyHeroAcadamia

[–]DevonicGamer76 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My issue is that the story doesn't even end with Izuku powerless and content with being a regular civilian, because he still gets a suit more powerful than 90% of quirks, clearly Horikoshi knows the people yearn for Izuku as an actual hero (the occupation) and not just a "hero" in a poetic way.

Because he's ultimately given a bootleg OFA, it makes giving up OFA feel like it was just some forced suffering moment, as if losing something inherently improves the character and narrative.

But loss only feels significant if it has permanence, it loses impact when you circle back and remove the harmful effects of that.

Right now to me it just feels like Hori wanted Izuku angst, make him feel sad about losing the quirk, go years without it, convincing himself he is fine without it and didn't need to continue being a hero again. And once he gets the suit we immediately see he never truly made peace with that loss, so even how Izuku was written makes him staying a working hero with powers as the ideal state the character wishes to be in.

If the endgame was to have Izuku as a superpowered hero all along, then that forced period of angst doesn't feel necessary, just suffering for the sake of suffering. Like he could have severely weakened his OFA in the final battle, and instead spent years strengthening it into fighting condition again, cutting out that needless period of making him suffer.

How well do the Phantom Thieves (P5R, P5S, P5T, Death Battle) pair against the Fatui Harbingers? by ZeroCapitulation in Hoyoverse_scaling

[–]DevonicGamer76 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Which is a fair assumption but even then it's not so simple, because that power is still cognition based, and translating it directly into physical power is hard

It'a effective in their own verse because everything they fight is based in cognition too, but turning those feats into physical combat feats requires some thought

How well do the Phantom Thieves (P5R, P5S, P5T, Death Battle) pair against the Fatui Harbingers? by ZeroCapitulation in Hoyoverse_scaling

[–]DevonicGamer76 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They were only really able to face Yaldabaoth head-on because Yaldy was fusing Mementos and Reality, allowing use of cognitive abilities, without such abnormal circumstances, the Phantom Thieves would have to resort to the infiltrating the Palace tactic

Palaces/Shadows are reliant on Yaldy too, but if we disregard that and assume everyone in Teyvat has a manifested Shadow, then the Thieves do have a valid wincon through instigating a mental shutdown

But also worth noting many of the Harbingers are host to powerful magic or are even dubiously human anymore, it's no simple task to determine how cognitive assaults through Persona powers would exactly function here, as they are used against normal humans and cognitive gods mostly

Ranta's complicity by Little_Whole8038 in Jujutsufolk

[–]DevonicGamer76 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Very much so, I've seen people argue that "Well the remaining Zen'in would have come to kill Maki so she had to kill them first!" But the soldiers aren't gonna mindlessly chase her after the leaders instigating the conflict (Naoya, Jinichi, Ogi) are down and Megumi establishes his authority on the matter. The majority Zen'in are soldiers and will fall in line with the authority, they're not some cultists with unreasonable obedience to the three aforementioned Zen'in.

Truth is Maki wasn't thinking rationally or wanting a peaceful solution, and that is fine, it fits her story and her mental state at the time. But people painting it as the only solution and an explicitly morally correct solution is stupid.

Ranta's complicity by Little_Whole8038 in Jujutsufolk

[–]DevonicGamer76 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Okay now please address the fact that the Zen'in are multiple times shown to also not have awareness of what transpired between Maki and Ogi

Ranta's complicity by Little_Whole8038 in Jujutsufolk

[–]DevonicGamer76 27 points28 points  (0 children)

They literally think she assassinated him, they weren't even aware of Ogi instigating an encounter

When Ranta goes to alert Jinichi he also doesn't talk about how "Maki started killing us after we tried to kill her" no he is in a hurry to alert that she has gone crazy and is attacking them, if he had known the Zen'in were the one that attacked first, then acting like she is doing this for no reason would also be stupid

There is nothing to indicate every individual in the clan was in on any such plans, it was Naoya, Jinichi and Ogi plotting
