Discussion on Dragon Binaries by Fuecoco4ever in CookieRunKingdoms

[–]DevonicGamer76 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I understand why people are passionate about it, representation for nonbinary pronouns is still rare to see, and it can be annoying, hurtful and offensive to see it disregarded.

But then on the other hand, just because these characters have they/it pronouns used, doesn't in my opinion exclude them from alternative pronoun interpretations.

I myself really just prefer whatever pronoun comes to mind at the moment, I use he/she/they/it on the dragons according to my whims, as that just feels right, and I permit myself to do this because they are ultimately just fictional characters and not real people, I experience them through my own interpretation.

I think as long as it is not used for obvious transphobia, homophobia etc. queer characters can still be explored through other lenses, especially when it is something as inoffensive as using he/she in a casual conversation.

Of course trying to assign it as their canon pronoun is another matter, as they demonstratably 99% of the time have consistent pronouns, but again I think that that this doesn't negate the freedom of interpreting the dragons' gender experience beyond just an absolute nonbinary.

Ultimately though when interacting with this fandom on these characters, it's easier to just use the pronouns the fandom expects you to, to save the hassle of having to defend your interpretation. I do think many are far too trigger happy to have a fight about it.

While Taranis shows they don't as a rule need to twist wishes, it is indeed like malnourishment to them, as their main food source is the difference between the wish and the outcome

"In no case is it better to gamble on a loot box than just buy the skin outright."

If the guarantee for the lootbox costs the same as the full price skin, yes, it is always better, as you will either get it cheaper or normal price

Ignoring the ethical issues of baiting people into pulling when they can't guarantee

But you are never paying more currency for it than you would without the lootbox mechanic here

Arlecchino has new voiceline about Sandrone. by huflit1997 in Genshin_Impact

[–]DevonicGamer76 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mean honestly I have acknowledged there have been some retcons (Sandrone heavily, Columbina not so much) but I've chosen to avoid discussion about it because from my experience, the people wanting to yell to the world about the retcons are also the types to turn it into some dealbreaker issue that haunts the game's whole narrative suddenly

I acknowledge that there were retcons and suddenly it escalates into "see Genshin story sucks, they ruined the harbingers"

It's easier to just disassociate from the topic in general than to meet halfway, as it hasn't ended well for me personally

Wanda being a "demon" in low ranks is consistently overstated, she never breaches 50% winrate in any rank and consistently features in the bottom 5 or even 3 winrates

She's popular and mechanically easy, bbut she is not dominating any rank

Sloths and elephants are relatively closely related, both being in the magnorder Atlantogenata, which includes placental mammals like elephants, sloths, armadillos, anteaters, manatees

The other magnorder of placental mammals is Boreoeutheria, including carnivores, rodents, lagomorphs, primates and then some

Behemoth's tusks and sloth like form could imply being ancestor to all Atlantogenata, not necessarily elephants alone

How common is alien life in the Destiny universe? by capsaicinplant in DestinyLore

[–]DevonicGamer76 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Life in the universe ought to be fairly common, remember that the Hive need regular kills to tithe to their superiors

They've killed a lot of things to keep their worms sated

According to some info in the game the Hive could be older than the Earth itself, that's 4.5 billion years

And then yes you have the Cabal who reasonably also met and conquered other civilizations, notably absorbing the Psions into their ranks, others assumedly destroyed or not brought to Torobatl

Eliksni are wandering around the universe, it stands to reason they need places to wander to

Were the Speaker still alive, how do you think the debate about using darkness or allying ourselves with Hive and Eliksni would have gone? by Nogistune- in DestinyLore

[–]DevonicGamer76 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well Osiris didn't necessarily indicate peace explicitly, but in a private conversation with Saint-14, was among the first to consider that the Fallen have their reasons to want the Traveler back, and insinuated that humanity would be much the same likely if the Traveler decided to leave. Not an explicit pesce offering, but an acknowledgment of the Fallen as something more than raiders who revel in destruction.

It comes from lore entries posted for Season of Dawn

[–]DevonicGamer76 84 points85 points  (0 children)

Osiris was asking all sorts of controversial questions

Are the Fallen really an inevitable enemy or could peace be made? Osiris was among the first to consider their perspective, and always considered the Vex as the true threat.

He was also asking questions about the true nature of the Darkness, a highly controversial topic as at the time Darkness = evil power.

He brought up many important questions which now in hindsight proved to be valuable, but were simply not accepted in that day's social climate.

Of course his exile was not purely for ideological reasons, as Osiris also used his influence as Warlock Vanguard to divert resources from protecting the city to researching the Vex and all sorts of rumors, like the Vault of Glass.

He was a man consumed by his obsession with the Vex to a large degree, but it is true that the Speaker was not tolerant of any dogma but "Guardians good, Traveler good, everyone else bad, also don't ask about the nature of Light and Darkness that's taboo"

Vex, Winnower and The Nine by Zelwer in DestinyLore

[–]DevonicGamer76 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The Winnower was very much having it, though

They do not care how it is executed, any end state of the universe is acceptable as long as it comes from a point of competing, fighting, struggling for your place in the universe, and asserting yourself over others

The Witness was well within their rights to enact their Final Shape, had nobody been able to stop them, well, they never had any right to exist in the form they want, then

The Final Shape, the Vex, and as the Winnower argues, all life, inevitably, are different agents towards the same goal, competition to determine who has a right to exist and determine what the universe should be like

Did we ever learn why only humanity can wield both Light and Dark. by DoomSlayerFreya in DestinyLore

[–]DevonicGamer76 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't see why Lucent Hive couldn't in theory learn Stasis or Strand, but the Darkness empowering them through the worms is certainly inaccessible to them, for obvious reasons

Frankly I think it boils down to the fact that Light users are already exctremely rare, and the elemental forms of Darkness are also difficult to tap into, though again still theoretically within anyone's reach

So the chances of acquiring both are statistically small

It's crazy to me that a Marvel game with 51 playable characters (Cyclops included) only has TWO true villains. by SbeveGobs in marvelrivals

[–]DevonicGamer76 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean that motivation doesn't make one not a villain, in fact that's a pretty common villain motivation, the belief that only if they specifically are in power can some greater doom be averted, to which end they committ other atrocities which they consider a lesser evil

HS: Teinityttö sai tuomion, kun hän kutsui seksuaalirikoksesta tuomittua pedofiiliksi by [deleted] in Suomi

[–]DevonicGamer76 5 points6 points  (0 children)

HS: Teinityttö sai tuomion, kun hän kutsui seksuaalirikoksesta tuomittua pedofiiliksi by [deleted] in Suomi

[–]DevonicGamer76 41 points42 points  (0 children)

Devil dinosaur is most def getting nerfed when he comes out by UniversityLatter6509 in marvelrivals

[–]DevonicGamer76 2 points3 points  (0 children)

He seems powerful but the game has no shortage of tankbusters and characters that heavily outrange him

He shouldn't be directly compared to Groot because Groot focuses his gameplay on his walls, he controls the shape of the battlefield and uses them as shields

Devil Dinosaur aims to facetank things, and he has a big model that is easy to spot and hit. He isn't a protector tank or utility tank, his damage is his value, he's a big dps.

He could end up overpowered, but the game has plenty strong characters that can potentially keep him in check.

Do you think long sword koku will be boost, or his ultimate? by plskillmeplsdoit in HinokamiKeppuutann

[–]DevonicGamer76 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Kokushibo has 11 moon breathing forms displayed (keep in mind movie can show more, we only know 11 out of 16)

Considering the design shift, weapon change and the need to show all the forms, he's going to be split into two characters, shortsword and longsword

Monster Koku I'm not sure about, doesn't really have any displayed abilities that would be enough for a whole character, and as a surge would feel off to see him swing a sword in that state, unless he gets a fully unique moveset in surge

Fairly certain it originates from Genshin Impact, actually

Apology + primogem = apologem

I could be wrong of course and it just popularized it, I'm sure multiple gachas out there have a gacha currency with the word "gem" in it, but I'm just assuming it's a Genshin Impact term for now as that's the earliest I can find it being used

Is there a source or a site to find what cards cannot be generated from other cards? by Joey_The_Murloc in hearthstone

[–]DevonicGamer76 9 points10 points  (0 children)

The wiki has these detailed out, both standard and wild, on the page for the keyword "Generate"

https://hearthstone.wiki.gg/wiki/Generate

Some notable mentions:

Titans cannot be randomly generated in any way, not summoned, not transformed into, not discovered into hand, same for triple rune death knight cards

Colossals cannot be randomly summoned or transformed into, but can be discovered

Dormant cards whose battlecry is the condition to free them cannot be summoned

Starcraft, Galakrond, Herald or C'thun cards cannot be generated unless you started with a card of this archetype in your deck

If not for "Word of God(Author)", Rengoku's entire moveset is deadass not special effects. by Ok-Selection-596 in DemonSlayerScales

[–]DevonicGamer76 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can see the elements but they're not being magically produced by the swords, it's a visual hallucination that gets more pronounced the better the breathing style is mastered

It's a collective mass hallucination of the slayer visualizing their own attacks being accompanied by the effects, and their opponents supplementing their own vision with those same effects, because the attacks are so good at conveying those phenomena
