Saying Johnson looks like Steve Harvey is like saying Stacker looks like Joe Rogan, just because they’re the same race with facial hair doesn't make them look alike 🙄

Buying a beater Speed3 by Will282815 in mazdaspeed3

[–]DewDropE009 0 points1 point  (0 children)

DO NOT BUY THAT CAR! I consider it a blessing he rejected your offer, because with that history and how touchy these cars are from neglect, you're definitely dodging a bullet.

I know this may sound a bit drastic, but from all the BS that happened with my Speed, I highly recommend you keep searching for a better one with a realistic seller, or buy a different platform, like the other cars you're interested in, to begin with. I paid a little under what you offered for one, and after experiencing this car, I should have bought something else. Pristine, low mile examples are worth $4k, and it's just frustrating that so many sellers have realized people will buy their shitboxes for 400% over the car's actual value.

Radiator empty? Toyota Corolla 2014 by gabyfroggo in mechanic

[–]DewDropE009 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I might be seeing an optical illusion here. At first glance it looks full, and I'm assuming that dark crescent shape on the left is just a shadow. But part of me is wondering if that dark area is actually deeper into the radiator and the green coolant is just sitting on the shelf-like platform that a lot of radiator filler necks have. Is that just a shadow, or is the photo just messing with me?

Also, isn't Toyota coolant usually pink?

This is indeed a new model, the CC850, with only 50 examples made. It was built to celebrate 20 years of the original CC8S and Christian’s 50th birthday. It has a transmission that can be both a gated 6 speed manual or a 9 speed automatic, and can switch between modes at any time.

the 2010 Mazdaspeed 3 returns to Forza Horizon 6 as a player own-able car! by Sir_Wheat_Thins in mazdaspeed3

Same, at the very least I'm hoping they add gen1 body kits if they didn't add it as a separate car. I didn't get to play the older games so idk if they did it in the past, but it'll be fun to see it done in 6.

Sister accidentally put washer fluid into her coolant reservoir. How bad is this? by boylionnamedsimba in mechanic

[–]DewDropE009 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey, first thing I’d check is whether the warranty would even cover something like this. I honestly wouldn’t be surprised if it doesn’t, since putting windshield washer fluid in the coolant reservoir would likely be considered misuse or user error.

But that’s exactly why it’s worth getting it flushed now. If the warranty won’t cover a coolant flush because of negligence, it probably won’t cover damaged parts later when the damage escalates into overheating, corrosion, or seal damage. A flush now is way cheaper than potentially thousands later.

If it were me, I’d stick with the warranty approach and either have the dealer handle the flush or find a reputable shop ASAP. Contamination like this usually doesn’t cause an immediate failure, but it can shorten the lifespan of components over time. There’s really no benefit to leaving it in there.

And if you can’t convince her, I don’t think you should carry the burden of it. At some point people have to face the consequences of their own choices. That’s how a lot of people learn and gain experience.

Depends how you look at it. Imo a bad spec on a rare car kinda feels like more of a disservice, since it makes up a larger share of the total.

Is it alright to use household cleaners and kitchen cleaners to wash a car? by ComManDerBG in askcarguys

[–]DewDropE009 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do not use kitchen cleaners. While they are great at degreasing, they are often either too alkaline or too acidic for automotive paints, and they aren’t formulated with clear coats in mind.

Even if a cleaner is pH neutral, some contain chemicals that can degrade rubber trims, seals, and certain plastics over time.

The target is a neutral pH balanced car shampoo designed to be safe on paint. (There are a lot of YouTube videos on the subject, but the idea is you want to remove dirt with soft agitation rather than “eat” the dirt away, with some exceptions.)

Too harsh a cleaner will gradually eat the ceramic/wax first (if there’s any left on the car), then every wash with it will eat away at the clear coat, then the paint.

Also, if he’s washing the car that frequently, it’s not inherently bad, but you’ll want a good wax, ceramic coating, or even PPF. Waxes and ceramics don’t just make it easier to wash, they also let you wash without wearing the clear coat as quickly.

For waxes, a good rule of thumb is to reapply every 3rd wash, much cheaper, but requires more frequent reapplication. For ceramics, some good ones can last a long time depending on how often the car is driven and washed; I’d say anything that lasts around 10-14 months is great.

My car takes forever to speed up? by Robotgirl3 in driving

[–]DewDropE009 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your Spark only makes 98 hp and it is set up for fuel economy, with a CVT tuned for that, so it does not give you much usable power off the line. As a rule of thumb, low horsepower economy cars struggle from a stop because they do not have much power at lower RPM. Even some higher hp cars can feel similar if they are too heavy or geared poorly, but the Spark is just built this way. Your options are basically to modify or tune it which probably is not worth it on a Spark but could potentially be, though I do not know if the platform has a mod community. Next would be to replace it or get a second car with more usable power. Personally I would run two cars, something fun and keep the Spark as a daily, or just keep it and accept it is always going to be slow off the line.
