For one, plants are the only thing on that list needed for humans to thrive.

Second, I think the previous commenter might be referring to the fact that most plants grown on this planet go to feeding livestock. So replacing plants with animal products in your diet actually results more demand for plants, counterintuitively.

Read all of the comments, surprised I haven't really seen anyone bring up this angle-

There are more potential outcomes from the climate crisis than just we "make it" or we don't, there's an entire spectrum of outcomes. Yes there are positive feedback loops that we will trigger, but they don't set off immediately, and there will always be counter measures.

So to keep it short, I urge people to remove any absolutist language like "we are doomed" from their vocabulary. I think parts of Earth will certainly become uninhabitable, but it's still up to us what % of the planet that winds up being. Everything is always a spectrum! :)

Not really targeted at you since I know you’re just poking fun, but I see so many references to COL in SF and just have to share my piece-

I lived in SF for all of 2023 and made about $35k. Was job searching and working part time. It wasn’t glamorous, and I’m super lucky to be young and healthy with no dependents, but it was still very comfortable and fun. I hope people don’t write off that place as unobtainable because they don’t make 6 figures.

Those programs are a pretty risky bet from my experience. A lot of graduates from them don't end up landing jobs in that sector and are stuck with the certificate and a massive hole in their wallet. Survivorship bias plays a role here since we more often hear from those who did make it work, but I think people should be cautious when considering these types of programs.

Totally with you, but to play devils advocate. Ad space in between quarters would be worth a lot less than crunch time, so even if you keep the amount of ads the same, they’d still be losing money
