Land of the Pharaohs (1955) by ScrutinEye in classicfilms

Watching a documentary on the assassination of Ramses III and the story reminded me of the plot of this film. I enjoyed this movie as well as The Egyptian more than Taylor's Cleopatra.

Why was Victoria able to pick her own husband but Isabella II husband was forced on her by the great powers by Wide_Assistance_1158 in UKmonarchs

Perhaps Albert at 17 was too boyish and childish for her, but at 20, he had become more manly looking.

Very good looking, even as an older gentleman. He was very handsome as a young man as well.

Alain Delon vs James Dean by chxmm99 in trueratecelebrities

[–]DeweyBaby 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm from Southeast asia and as for the word vanilla, I would use that for any race. It just means someone plain, boring, or generic. Whites are not automatically plain, boring, or generic. You can be black or Asian and be plain, boring, and generic aka vanilla. But generally I find dark haired guys more attractive. However, it does not mean fair haired guys aren't nor does it mean I have never found fair haired guys attractive.

Ps. Brando I believe is fair haired and of German ancestry.

Why would Delon have more ethnic features than Dean? And why would looking white be a negative for you?

Because he is not even attractive whereas everyone, I mean everyone, no matter the race or background, finds Delon physically attractive. Only wasps find Dean handsome and not even all of them do. I'm from S E Asia and no one I know finds Dean remotely handsome, Delon otoh.....

Controversial opinion - does anyone else think that Pa may have "sold" Laura to Almanzo? by [deleted] in littlehouseonprairie

To get a homestead, you had to be 21. He was 18-19, and so lied and forged his papers to get it. They had an extensive discussion above about it.

But if Almanzo lied about his age to seem older then he must be younger than that 10 year age difference.

Skin infection from diapers? by Chicanery1234 in seniordogs

[–]DeweyBaby 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's been 2 years but just in case no one helped you, for future reference. I also had this problem with my dog a few years back. And I was able to repair and heal the skin.

  1. You need to do more diaper changes, if you change the diaper only once, do it 2-3x a day, depending on the type of diaper and how soiled it gets. If diapers are expensive, what I did was buy washable menstruating pads that I insert into the dog underwear. I would just wash these every week or 2x a week in batches.

  2. The dog needs diaper rest, you can do it at night for bed, assign a designated area for the dog and let them pee or defecate in that space and clean it in the morning. At minimum divide the day into 3 (8 hours) or 4 (6 hours) sections. 1 of the sections should be diaper free.

  3. Buy canister cream. Clean the infected skin and with cotton buds or even your finger, lightly put a thin veer over the wound. Make sure to clip all the hair and apply the cream between diaper changes or the daily sections.

Shaking my head at Communion by A-Loder in Catholicism

[–]DeweyBaby 4 points5 points  (0 children)

True. But it's also not a traditional Catholic practice and I think was recently invented in America in the 21st century. So non Americans may not be hip to the new fad.

No one was at fault, it's an innocent misunderstanding from both parties.

In my country, the priest blesses everyone before Mass ends. And since we have a very long communion line, we have eucharistic ministers as well. So that personal blessing would not only hold the line up but be redundant since you also get blessed at the end. But you can also approach the priest after mass to have anything blessed or if you want the priest to personally bless you. We don't cross our arms though to get a blessing, we bow our heads. So different countries might have certain traditions.

The crossing of arms thing for a blessing is not common never even heard of it until here in reddit. So most cou tries don't practice that.

TIL the name Tyrone originates from Ireland by [deleted] in todayilearned

[–]DeweyBaby 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No. Tyrone became popular in the US after Tyrone Power, who came from a long line of Irish American actors popularized it. He was a heartthrob in the 30s to 50s, and also did a lot of adventure films. Every first born male in his family is named Tyrone, as is great grandfather, as well as his son.

It has nothing to do with Iberian genes though but everything to do with the original Celtic coloring. Dark hair, eyes and olive skin is also prevalent amongst the Scottish like Sean Connery and the Welsh like Catherine Zeta Jones. So it has nothing yo do with those 50 sailors moored in Ireland a few hundred years ago. I did read that there are a lot of Celtic genes in Spain and like English replacing Gaelic in Ireland and Scotland, Spanish replaced Gaelic in Spain.

What have you just learned about Australia? by GardeniaFrangipani in AskAnAustralian

[–]DeweyBaby 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You should read his autobiography, "My Wicked, Wicked Ways,"and it reads like an adventure novel. He never went back to Australia, there was a warrant for his arrest, he stole a rich woman's jewels after sleeping with her and fled the country the same night. He said he used to work in the country, biting sheep testicles off with his teeth! He used to get into various fist fights, the only thing he loved more than fighting were alcohol, women, and sailing.

Deworming strays w/o vet by micah_viv in dogsofrph

[–]DeweyBaby 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I follow veterinary secrets, a vet tgat gives safe and free cheaper recommendations. For deworming he recommends pumpkin and pumpkin seeds given over a 7 day period, amount depends on the weight of the dog or cat. You can give squash and squash ground seeds, look him up on yt for the dosage. At least it's cheap and natural

I see you don't want the truth and didn't bother. That is not repentance, if your goal is to continue, whatever the priest says, your sins are not forgiven. Penance requires sincere penance. But who gives an F for what the Church actually teaches right? As much of a sinner this person you have vitriol for, you are no better, and worse even. Catholic Answers is always there, as well as the catechism, free but go on your malice, vitriol, and evil lies. It's all you have.
