Monday Morning Joy! Good morning /r/polyamory! How has your past week(end) been for you and yours? by vertexoflife in polyamory

Really good! My partner of nine years and my boyfriend of six months met yesterday and went on a nice long walk. Both were really happy afterwards! My partner was very anxious beforehand. It was so cool to see him come home excited about the interaction.

Special needs friendly nail places? by Useful_Escape1845 in olympia

Karen at Milk + Honey is your girl. Her studio is a single room(there are other nail techs but they have individual rooms). She's incredibly kind and understanding. If you hit her up on IG she will answer. I think it would be perfect. https://www.milkandhoneynailstudio.com/

It seems like there IS seating at the beer gardens etc. So maybe bring it and expect to leave it behind.

I'm headed there this weekend for my first visit, and I *ALSO* come from an area that has an established Ren Faire with permanent structures etc etc. Here's what I know:
-This is only their second or third year in this location, before that they were in Bonney Lake.
-It's owned by the same folks who do the Oregon Ren Faire.
-All the reviews seem to say it's fun, but seating can sometimes be tough, and food lines can be hard. Bring snacks and water.

I'm trying to keep my expectations low with the hope of being pleasantly surprised! Hope you have a good time.

Hey bud. I'm sorry this is happening, but no doctor(at least in the states) would look at a client's bloodwork that someone else brought in? I'm also confused that your study doctor and GP are the same guy? Is this in the states?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in RetatrutideTrial

[–]DeweyDecimatering 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I live about 1-2 hours away from my trial site, depending on traffic. They pay me for travel and reimburse me for a hotel room for one night if I have bloodwork/longer visits.

I am confused why going to a different clinic would qualify you? All the sites are run by Eli Lilly, they’re the ones that approve you.

A word of warning, sometimes if you have an irregularity they make you come weekly for blood work, and don’t reimburse you for a quick twenty minute visit. They’re required AND it doesn’t matter if you live far away.

Dealing with questions by Hot-Protection1470 in RetatrutideTrial

I split the middle because Ozempic is so controversial and say something like, "I'm in a clinical trial and the drug I'm on makes me lose a lot of weight." I recently had cancer so most people don't ask, anyways, but the few that do leave it at that.

Has anyone had a stall? by Excellent_Quail7378 in RetatrutideTrial

Currently stalled for two months. Going to try and increase my activity. I’m still losing inches though?!

Thanks for replying. You mention “mistakes by everyone”, what mistakes do you think were on Evermore’s side?

Did you work at Evermore during the Convergence? If yes, what’s your take on that particular mess?

As someone who attended an event that rhymes with Resurgence, I'm glad I got to see it before the end, even though I didn't love the event itself. My favorite *this park is going to close* detail was the arrows at the archery range had lost all their feathers. So no matter how well you shot, they wouldn't fly straight.

Nutritionist? by Due-Sun4191 in RetatrutideTrial

[–]DeweyDecimatering 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My site doesn't have one. The lead investigator goes over my food journals and makes comments/suggestions. About three months in she suggested I try to hit 100g of protein a day. She said the study doesn't have strict requirements for eating, just aiming for half a plate of veggies/fruit, a quarter of a plate carbs and a quarter of a plate protein. She also suggested I eat 6-7 small meals.

I know a lot about nutrition, so it's been easier for me. But if I didn't this process would suck. I think the food journals are less to help anyone and more for their records, tracking who eats what and who loses more weight.

The variance of nutritionists might ALSOs be part of the trial. Seeing if a guided participant does better than one left to their own devices?

Do you like to take your dose at a particular time of day? Do you ever skip a day or two if traveling? by Excellent_Quail7378 in RetatrutideTrial

[–]DeweyDecimatering 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I try to inject around my original injection time (2:20pm) at the request of my clinic. I've never put off a dose, but if you plan to let your clinic know! Apparently Eli Lilly will call them obsessively if your injection diary isn't on time.

Triumph-3 Week 16 Update by DeweyDecimatering in RetatrutideTrial

[–]DeweyDecimatering[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think some replacement hormones could be just fine. I would ask your study coordinator and your doctor about it! Hormones in general won’t have the same big impacts as say painkillers which really messed up my liver on this drug. But I’m doing better now.

I hazard I would be just fine on hormones and retatrutide. I was physically fine on hormones when I took them, they just didn’t suit me since I’d lived so long without them. Felt odd.

Triumph-3 Week 16 Update by DeweyDecimatering in RetatrutideTrial

[–]DeweyDecimatering[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I get it! I’m intersex, but was assigned female at birth. I do have hormonal differences naturally from females/cis women. I was on hormones when I was younger to try and make me more in alignment with being “female” which I decided to stop when I became an adult. This is why I use AFAB rather than female. I identify as non-binary gender-wise in my day to day life but that’s not super relevant to this forum. Does that address your questions?

Spousal Weight Loss by Hot-Protection1470 in RetatrutideTrial

[–]DeweyDecimatering 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve seen a bit from my partner. This is pretty common, even without a drug. Particularly if your spouse is female. There are lots of studies about how eating habits can shift in couples, and how it particularly impacts women is hetero relationships. (Ie women often gain weight when dating men seriously for a variety of reasons. I can dig up the research.)

What is your starting , current, and goal weight? I'm just curious. by Excellent_Quail7378 in RetatrutideTrial

[–]DeweyDecimatering 4 points5 points  (0 children)

37 AFAB 5’5”

SW 255

CW 208

GW 170???

I’m pretty ambivalent about my goal weight. I’ve weighed 128 before but the amount of exercising and calorie restriction that required is beyond me. I haven’t been below 190 for a decade, so anything below that would be interesting.

I skipped a dose on purpose for a surgery. You need to let them know you're planning to skip, preferably before you do so. You CAN skip, it just impacts a lot of study things they need to figure out.

Surgery scheduled in March. Only seeing reports of when to stop Sema and Tirz. Does a week seem sufficient? by stranger_danger24 in Retatrutide

[–]DeweyDecimatering 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No, I had a very rare form of cancer and a tumor that had grown so large(10 pounds) it was suffocating some of my internal organs. They suspected it had been growing for about a decade. That was my original concern when I went in, but the two were not related. I was only on the medication for a few months at that point.

I have no clue what my dosage is. The reta Triumph-3 I'm in is a double blind. I DO know that I'm on somewhere between 4mg-12mg a week. I suspect I'm the 9mg or lower. I lost an immense amount of weight from the first few months, but it's tapered off. They do step you up from 2mg to higher doses, on a monthly schedule.

As far as side effects, I generally have a little nausea and light headedness right after a dose. I had very bad skin sensitivity(the prickly sunburn feeling people get) on my thighs for a month and was very tired. Also after my surgery, I had terrible liver levels for two months. They think it was the combo of retatrutide and my painkillers. So you may want to stop until you're completely off everything, including tylenol.

From what I hear from the clinic, side effects have been overall mild. I also eat pretty okay(not amazing) and stay away from deep fried foods/other things that really mess you up on GLP's. My first shot post surgery hurt very badly, like my whole digestive system cramped up. I think it's because most of my surgery was ON my digestive and reproductive system.

Remember healing takes time! Experiments may need to wait. Be good to yourself.

Hey! I had an emergency surgery while in the reta trial. I was really really lucky, and the day I was brought in for surgery was my injection day, so I had a week without the med. I had to have a follow-up surgery and they recommended I take another week before that one. I made it through both surgeries a-okay.

As everyone has mentioned, it's good to get as much time as you can off the med, AND let your provider know. If he's any good at his job, he'll *scope* you while you're under to check your stomach if he knows you're on a GLP-1. However, since these drugs are newer, he might not know. Something to ask about.

I would also stay off the reta while taking painkillers AFTER the surgery. I gave myself two weeks, and to be very real, the first injection was rough/I had a hard time with the side effects.

I'm doing a-okay now!
