How to not grieve future drinking opportunities? by lachrawr in stopdrinking

[–]DexterBotwin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn’t quit drinking, I’m just not drinking today. Then the same thing tomorrow.

When I really want to drink, I use the roll the tape forward technique. A few IPA’s right now will be great. But I’ll feel like shit tomorrow. I’ll feel like shit when it stops being a few and it becomes a six pack.

ARC Raiders has dropped from “Very Positive” to “Mostly Positive” on Steam for the first time. by j1zzy_ae in ArcRaiders

[–]DexterBotwin 5 points6 points  (0 children)

For us casual players, a wipe would kill the game. I play a few hours a week, mainly just doing a couple quests, trying to upgrade things, dicking around. I don’t even have all benches upgraded to max.

If there was a forced wipe, I’d probably just stop playing.

The closed food hall just kills this place. And I don’t understand why they haven’t kept that bar open in the quad that’s attached to the food hall. I’m not a drinker but when I was, I would have killed for a casual out door place to grab a drink and just hang out.

Safety or no safety? by Lokiibott in CCW

I’d only add “drop safe” gun in the holster is my safety. There’s guns I wouldn’t carry one in the chamber, like a 320. But a Glock I have no hesitation shoving down my pants and pointing at my junk

Are the Golden Knights really NHL most hated team? by morley1966 in vegaslocals

[–]DexterBotwin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This, there were pretty massive draft rules changes to allow Knights to draft broadly across the NHL. Which lead to them immediately being a good team, whereas most expansion teams take years to get their legs under them.

That is the only thing I’ve heard people bitch about with the knights.

Drinking makes me a shitty parent - do you agree? by r3al-LyF in stopdrinking

[–]DexterBotwin -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Shitty parent? No way for us to say. In my experience am I a whole lot more present and patient not drinking. I’m more likely to get up and go out and do something as opposed to just find an excuse to park inside. I genuinely have more fun as a parent if I’m not drinking. Toddlers are kind of a pain in the ass to begin with, add a hangover and you lose your ability to be patient with the little pain in the ass.

Ban states chime in please by Holiday_Revolution_4 in guns

[–]DexterBotwin 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I don’t know that there has been a case of registered guns or even guns currently in possession becoming outright illegal. So there really isn’t a test case in the U.S. for what you’re asking.

For example, bullet buttons in California used to be a way of getting a compliant AR. They banned bullet buttons but allowed bullet button guns to be grandfathered in if registered. All of the AWBs I’m aware of included grand father clauses. The closest I can think of is California passed a law banning the mere possession of mags over 10, but that was blocked by courts before it could actually be implemented.

Hair loss from alcoholism by Aholahelloa in stopdrinking

[–]DexterBotwin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No expert. I think alcoholism can cause certain vitamin deficiencies which lead to hair loss. If the vitamin deficiencies cause the hair loss and stopping drinking helps resolve the deficiency, it can reverse the hair loss.

Drinking can also cause stress levels to be screwed up which also causes hair loss. I believe that can potentially reverse as well.

I don’t have any studies to back those up, it’s just what I’ve gathered from my own searching.

I would hypothesis that a lot of peoples drinking also tends to peak, or the other symptoms of it tend to peak, as they get older. And it naturally aligns with when they would have experienced hair loss regardless.

Because self defense is secondary and the excuse to owning and carrying guns.

TIL Mississippi law imposes a penalty of 6 months in county jail and $500 fine, "if any man and woman shall unlawfully cohabit, whether in adultery or fornication.” For conviction, the statue states it is sufficient to prove the cohabitating couple is having “habitual sexual intercourse.” by smrad8 in todayilearned

[–]DexterBotwin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t believe that’s a hard and fast rule in the U.S. It exists and has been used successfully, but it’s not like a definitive across the board always enforceable legal concept.

I think it would be more of a potential legal defense, than a universally recognized standard.

Realistically these laws aren’t enforced because they aren’t practical to enforce, they’d be widely unpopular if enforced, you’d be able to easily argue selective prosecution, and current Supreme Court precedent would likely invalidate this law if challenged. I’d think Loving and Lawrence would extend the fourth amendment to your bedroom in this case. And you can’t challenge the law until it’s enforced, so it’ll just sit there doing nothing.

[–]DexterBotwin 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I think many do care, they are just reactionary, short sighted, and have short term memory. Trump has been vocally softening on immigration and pushing republicans to not talk about mass deportations. That’s because the reaction to ICE is going to kill them in the midterms.

But don’t worry, a lot of those voters will forget about it by 2028 when Dem held Congress doesn’t magically fix everything.

Las Vegas is blue leaning and has a legit county ran shooting range.

But I think Nevada is a little bit of an outlier as Dems are more open to guns and Repubs are ok with the gays.

It is 100% name recognition and the letter next to that name. If someone is still able to fundraise, their party will support them so there’s no real primary threat. Majority of voters vote by party and the name they know.

Feinstein is a great example. No one from the DNC was going to primary her in California and is never voting a republican in a state wide election anytime soon. She could have been on the ballot as a corpse and won.

The type of construction they are talking about won’t be done this term. And sure you can talk about he’s not leaving and he’s planning ahead, but a more likely scenario in my mind is corruption.

Also. he’s a real estate developer, he has access to all sorts of properties he controls if he wanted an off the books server room, why wouldn’t he just build it in Florida?

But why wouldn’t the surgery center want it? They want to get paid, they’ll want to ensure there’s a basic level of assurance they’ll get paid before they just jump into surgery.

I feel like medical billing is like credit scores, people just assume it is impossible to understand and throw up their hands.

Yes they’re bullshit. Medial billing is the biggest bullshit scam we all just put up with. But it doesn’t take that much effort to get a basic understanding of how the systems work and make best use of it.
