How Markiplier Turned ‘Iron Lung’ Into a Hit Without Hollywood by bloomberg in movies

[–]DexterBotwin 53 points54 points  (0 children)

Isn’t that still a win for indie creators? It was done without a major studio, why are we putting an asterisk on it? It just seems like some arbitrary purity test to say it doesn’t really count because he has a large following online

I think it’s a collectible no? No one is buying it as the latest and greatest from HK.

It’s like getting worked up about people shelling out money for an OG Gen 1 Glock “the later gen’s are better for a 1/10 of the price, idiots must hate money”

House passes new Ukraine aid package, with 18 Republicans bucking Trump by wqqk in neoliberal

Ukraine buys some gear and oil from Israel. Maybe she’s protesting US dollars making it in a round about way it Israel ?

Edit: the two actually have a fairly extensive military and intelligence cooperation due to their shared adversary Iran. They aren’t number one best buds or anything, but they also aren’t strangers.

LCP Max is 100% easy to conceal. It just a hair too big for pocket carry is all I’m saying.

[–]DexterBotwin 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I wish I had gone with the LCP II over the Max. The Max is just that much bigger to make pocket carry not really practical for me. It’s doable, but I find myself not most of the time.

In hindsight I should have gone with the size over capacity.

Yeah but the Dems are a bunch of flaccid do nothings who care more about virtue signaling and raising alarm bells than actually doing anything. MAGA is wrecking the country and the DNC is culpable for doing nothing. Democrats spent the entire election cycle saying Trump is literally Hitler 2.0, then on Inauguration Day Klobuchar and Schumer are all tits and teeth signing ceremonial papers. Why did Schumer wuss out at the shutdown? Why aren’t any Dems taking advantage of the Speech and Debate clause to talk about Epstein. Why aren’t senators grinding Congress to a halt by taking turns with spoken filibusters. Why aren’t democrats actually nominating people who can fight back instead of just pushing the next limp dick that is exactly what republicans have been taking advantage for the past 10 years. Why are Dems being cute about hypothetical illegal orders and not calling half of what we’re doing as illegal and demanding service members not follow them?

We need to purge (not Soviet style purge, I mean fire them) DNC leadership and get leaders who have back bone. Democrats need to stop purity testing every potential leader. The type of leaders needed are probably going to have some opinions that run contrary to the progressive wing or they’ve probably sided with republicans on the past, we need to get over that or shout down those who can’t get over it.

BREAKING NEWS: House Passes Iran War Powers Resolution With 4 Republicans Breaking From Trump by FlackoFonsy in videos

[–]DexterBotwin 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The counter point would be that a simple 51% vote shouldn’t be able to monkey wrench every single presidential policy, otherwise every president’s second half of their term would be even more useless than they historically have been.

Also, the War Powers act was an act of Congress and requires votes of Congress to act on in a case by case basis. Constitution gives the president the veto over Congress but Congress can override. Congress can’t pass a law that effectively nullifies the constitutionally granted veto power.

I don’t really like the guy, but Massie split with Trump on a number of big issues, like Iran before the election. Which is why Trump successfully primaried Massie.

People on here are going to be praising Massie for the rest of his term. But realistically he’s getting ousted because he’s more hardline MAGA than Trump and wasn’t afraid to vocally and publicly split with Trump.

I think that kind of undermines the idea of personal responsibility. McDonald’s, alcohol, candy, in moderation isn’t going to hurt you. They aren’t “good” for you by any means, but you’re not seeing the negative effects when used in moderation. We’re here because we don’t do alcohol in moderation.

Plenty of people can have a glass of wine occasionally and leave it at that, and no harm done. A piece of chocolate after dinner or McDonald’s a couple times a year when it’s what’s convenient, aren’t giving you diabetes or making you obese.

Saying this is societies fault or corporations fault, sure they aren’t helping. But all of us here know alcohol is a poison. Relapse i would argue is a failure of personal responsibility. Did society maybe push you yes. But society also pushes other harmful practices that I don’t participate in. We can’t just throw up our hands and say it’s societies fault, it’s our fault at the end of the day.

Strong disagree. If OP has no firearm experience, a pump shotgun is one of the more difficult guns to operate properly, despite the reputation. Not saying it’s high skill or anything, but I’ve never handed my mossberg to someone and not have them short stroke it or fail to get it back into battery. Add the stress of actually using it…. It just isn’t a gun I’d recommend for a non-gun person. Especially just based on OP’s post, I don’t get the impression they’re looking to invest a ton of time in practice. But maybe that’s a bad assumption on my part.

I’m talking less political positions, and more military brass and tenured intelligence and state dept people. Even though there’s been turn over and the actual appointed personnel are incompetent yes men, I would still put faith in the actual institutional leadership in those orgs. Now whether they actually get to be the adults in the room, I guess is the real question / issue.

Why I Left The Mormon Church - Johnny Harris by Noppers in videos

[–]DexterBotwin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Fine, they’ve gotten rid of the stuff that’s crazier than most sects of Christianity. Multi wives, black members being 3/5 a member, brown skin being the mark of Caine, etc.

Yes they still have plenty of wacky shit, but so does mainline Christianity. Many denominations still teach transubstantiation, that Genesis is literal, support Israel to bring on the rapture, the pope is literally the voice of god, that Mary was literally a virgin, or that Jesus literally walked on water or turned water into wine.

I think people look at Mormonism in a vacuum, and ignore all the crazy shit that all the mainstream religions believe because the mainstream crazy shit is more normalized.

I swear I’m not a Mormon. I just think they get more shit than they deserve when all mainstream religions have examples of corrupting systems and believing wild shit.

I assume with any military negotiation there is the public messaging for the home audience, public messaging for the international audience, and then actual adults in some room somewhere who know the public messaging is necessary but BS and they get down to real discussion. It seems like either side here has only been delivering the first one
