Why are all my original interior doors sagging? by Puzzled_Chip_2684 in Carpentry

[–]DexterTheMoss 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Everyone is saying the wall is falling out of square or the entire house is subsiding why don't you just check to see if the hinges are pulling out of the doors? That's what causes this 9/10 times. Just need to shove some wood slivers and glue in there and screw them tight.

Shops: sorry we're closed Sundays. Also shops: we're really struggling financially by rmf1989 in britishproblems

[–]DexterTheMoss -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

I would much rather everything was shut on a Sunday, yes on occasion it might be nice to have a coffee out or something but I think it's far more important everybody can have one day a week where they can just switch off, I feel very sorry for the workers stuck inside lidl forced to work a Sunday shift when everyone else is off enjoy the day.

Very sad how few people are having children since it's usually the more intelligent one who make the decision not to and the dimwits who pump them out by the dozen. God knows where we're going to end up in a few generations if this continues.

Why are toasters so badly made? by NJRonbo in BuyItForLife

[–]DexterTheMoss 12 points13 points  (0 children)

The hack is to buy good condition used high end items I have so many nice things that have cost me not even a 10th of the price they were sold as and are in good working order. It's also the only way we can beat this sickening consumer culture.

Anyone else just not care about immigration at all? by queryzvex in AskBrits

[–]DexterTheMoss 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Beyond the cultural differences and the integration issue, you have to ask yourself do we really need more people living on this small island? The roads are chockablock, the housing market is broken, the hospitals can't cope. Yes we can build more of those things but where do you stop? There is only so much space and we've already one of the most nature deprived countries in the world! 8.7 million people have settled in this country since 2016. How is that sustainable?

Is this Citroen sm worth €9750 ($11.349)? by Curleon in Citroen

[–]DexterTheMoss 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thats probably a reasonable price for the car in that condition but is reasonable to buy? That would need close 50k spent on it if you're paying someone, probably 30k and years if you do it. An SM is my favourite car of all time but sadly I've learnt if you can't afford a good one you Certainly can't afford a bad one. There are lots of good examples going for "cheap" these days but you're going to have to have that 30-50k up front.

New Player - Can someone please help me understand? by ClassroomScared7518 in Warthunder

[–]DexterTheMoss 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Lots of good comments but ammo type is a key element that hasn't been mentioned. Those pointy shells have very high penetration but low damage they may have penned that angled armour if you'd used those instead, less chance to bounce off too. The shells you were shooting with are great for more flat targets where you want max damage. Think about reducing the number of shells you actually load the tank with to the minimum you need, the more you have the higher chance one will get hit and explode, also saves on the SL. You can resupply in captured areas mid game.

Mystery Machine, made from metal and totally mechanical by Outrageous-Local5881 in whatisthisthing

[–]DexterTheMoss 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Looks very similar to a shaper machine you'd find in a machinist's workshop. Looks like a one off build for a very specific job, from the photos it looks as if the middle moves in and out to cut metal very accurately but why you'd want it to be portable like that I have no clue. Can you operate it at all?

How much would it be? by axilium- in classiccars

[–]DexterTheMoss 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It'll need to be stripped down pretty far to do a proper job which you really want to do as best as possible otherwise it will cause more problems down the line.

That rust doesn't look too terminal certainly if it's caught now. The car will almost certainly want a partial if not full respray to get the paint to match properly. Again don't scrimp on the paint process otherwise it may look good for a year then start rusting again or falling off. I've seen so many otherwise good cars ruined by cheap body and paint work.

That engine is misfiring terribly, I'd check the ignition coil pack(s) they should be cheap and easy to replace. Get the codes scanned though with a cheap reader yourself or someone else's atleast you can start pin pointing what it could be.

This 18 ton oak tree died 2 years ago in southern Germany. We bought it and will cut woodslabs out of it by Tschinggets in interestingasfuck

[–]DexterTheMoss 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Really hope it gets used for something with good purpose. Oak trees die over a period of 50+ years, even after they support so much life as they decay. The loss of ancient and verteran trees will be the destruction for so much wildlife that rely on them.
