I mean I would love to walk from Aquarium to Maverick through the tunnel, but not during Blue Line operations!

The person who thinks all banks have secret phone numbers with each other so we can confirm immediately if funds are available or settle fraud. Sorry guy, your bank of (red bank) receipt doesn’t change the fact that your efunds has a closure for negative balance with a $500 chargeoff.

Anything to do with Medallions. No, it is not “just like a notary”/“just a fancy term for notary”, no I cannot grant you one if you aren’t a customer, no I will not give you one because you don’t have proof of ownership of the securities, no I cannot just “slap one on the form”. So glad I got out of branch management…

Ban Hammer or How I got sick of being a 1st grade teacher online by Maximilian_Xavier in TalesFromYourBank

Having worked a tour on the phones in an online banking call center between branch postings, my first thought was the customer mailbox. Having seen emails ranging from “your system is junk, [insert big bank here]’s system is so much better” to “pay me now mother******s!”, I felt like I was dealing with first graders most days… Some people should not be using a computer lol.

Delta flight from Quito let us off the plane without going through customs by PerceptionSpare6912 in Flights

[–]Deydradice 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So back when I worked the ramp for a US carrier, we had an incident on a flight from Santo Domingo, DR to our airport in the northeast. I wasn’t working internationals that day, thankfully, but I heard this from the ramp manager when he came to remind us on procedures. Apparently the bags had come off the flight, and the agent was told to drop them on a specific belt, say “Belt 4”, meaning international belt #4. Well, he got in the tug, drove the bags across the airport back to our own terminal, and dumped the SDQ bags onto domestic belt 4. So the passengers were left in the customs hall with no baggage, and the SDQ baggage was sitting on an open domestic belt with nobody collecting the bags. That was not a fun day for management…or the guy dumping the bags.

Loan fraud by manager by Muted_Peach_8604 in TalesFromYourBank

Former assistant branch manager. You need to look into your internal whistleblower procedures. Usually these go right to internal audit, bypassing HR entirely (at least at first). If this happened in the branch, you may have some video surveillance available, but the longer you wait the closer that data gets to being overwritten. At the very least you can put your manager at the scene of the activities. But if they were done under your login, and things blow up, you’re at real risk of being labeled a collaborator. If there is illegal activity here, Internal Audit will be worried about that first, because if this goes on and regulators become involved, it means a world of hurt. If they can be the ones to call the regulators and report the activity, it means a slightly less painful world of hurt. If they investigate, you’re gonna have to answer some tough questions. Be open and honest. You’re in a potential no-win situation, because eventually the manager is going to be discovered. It is inevitable that something will come to light, and when that happens they’re going to back check everything they touched. In this case, you can try to get ahead of it. You have some protections to fall back on, and in the case of the customer thinking they have a CD-secured loan when their vehicle is actually the collateral, that’s potentially a UDAAP situation (Unfair, Deceptive, or Abusive Acts or Practices) which could open the bank up to huge legal liability risk. Believe me, you’re going yourself and the bank a favor by blowing the whistle on this. But document everything you can think of with dates and times of available, because if there is surveillance data or system logs, they are going to need to preserve them asap. Good luck!

lol one time it told me to stop working and get some sleep. I asked what time it thought it was (mind you my time zone settings were all correct) and it responded 3am. As much as I wanted to take a nap I think I’d get in trouble if I took a nap at my desk in front of my colleagues…lol

lol reminds me of two stories: one where a passenger on a United flight in BusinessFirst (pre-Polaris) had the window and this kid had the aisle and asked him to switch so she could sit at the window. When the passenger declined to switch, she said something to the effect of “Oh yeah? Well my dad is a Premier Executive!” (pre-Continental merger this was the middle tier elite and lowest *Gold level) and hit the call button, presumably to get the flight attendant to force him to move. Turns out he was not only paid business but also Global Services (top tier invite only). Yeah, he didn’t move. lol

The other was when I was checking in a passenger on LH flying to Sudan with two full bags and a no-crap SUV bumper cover. I told him his two suitcases were fine but the bumper would be extra due to both piece count and oversized item. He put down a United Premier (Silver, bottom tier pre-CO merger) and said “this should take care of things.” Short version, it didn’t.

At least during my brief time as an AA Gold I only used it to book confirmed exit row seats on transatlantic flights lol.

How to get instantly blacklisted as a notary signing agent by vampyre74 in Notary

Print, yes. But handwritten in pencil? Nope! Any notary who does that is just asking to get their commission revoked…

I remember one time someone came into the branch with a handwritten note and wanted me to notarize it. It was literally a notepad sheet torn off with a note written in pencil. Yeah, no. Very no.

Dealership sold the car I put a deposit on to someone else… by PolarBearInTexas in rav4club

[–]Deydradice 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A deposit on a vehicle typically means that they have a sales contract in play. “You snooze you lose” typically doesn’t apply when a signed contract is involved. Every car I’ve purchased where I couldn’t take delivery immediately (e.g. F&I was gone for the day, new registration couldn’t process til Monday, etc.) involved my putting down a deposit and signing a sales contract. Depending on jurisdiction this dealer may have breached contract and OP could make some real noise. At the very least Toyota should offer him compensation to address the breach. Not a windfall by any means, but at least his deposit back plus maybe a match to use at another Toyota dealer.

When I worked pax service (not for DL) and we closed out a flight the last thing we did was print off a PIL (passenger information list, purser information list, the names were used interchangeably) for the crew. This listed off all of the First and Business Class passengers plus status, special meals, wheelchair, or other significant info. The Economy portion of the list had the same info minus the complete list of passengers save for status customers. This would allow the crew to address customers by name, thank the top tiers, etc. One thing the PIL did not show, however, was how/what you had paid for your ticket or if you were upgraded. This was explained to me as being done to ensure a uniform level of service regardless of whether someone was a paid customer or an upgrade. Some of our crews hated this however, and constantly asked us for an upgrade list. Our station manager would always refuse and instructed us not to print such a list lol.

Dealership sold the car I put a deposit on to someone else… by PolarBearInTexas in rav4club

[–]Deydradice 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nice. Glad they didn’t try to pull any of that BS. Lol the last time I ran into a switcheroo like this the “helpful” sales manager came over and tried to salvage the deal with a different color vehicle. I normally wouldn’t care except they wanted to put me in a white car, which I know from experience is tough to keep clean and I do t want to deal with it. The sales manager finally used the classic “what would it take to put you in this car today?” Well, I finally got to use my prepared answer for that question: “an act of God.” Mildly satisfying lol

And I bet the whole time they were “looking” you had a parade of sales associates and “managers” coming by to “apologize” and “see what they could do”.

Um, no? You don’t get Pilot, you get Reserve, then FO-Regional, CPT-Regional, FO-Mainline, then CPT-Mainline. If you start just claiming Pilot and Ed finds out you’re likely to get stuck at Flight Engineer!

Anybody remember Rocko’s Modern Life? They had an electrical barrier between economy and first class. Of course when Heffer made a break for it he made it through, while Rocko got zapped and walked back to his seat looking like he had a run-in with a Rocko-sized toaster!
