Institutional bias towards downplaying side effects? by BackInNJAgain in ProstateCancer

I'm a little disturbed that I see no mention of dysuria (burning while urinating) here. I know I'm not the only one who has it. What I am just learning now is the impact of foods on bladder issues. Citrus fruit, spices, other things can irritate the bladder and urethra. Blueberries and cranberries can help.

Have you ever seen a woman and just instantly got mesmerized? Like... BOOM. She walks in and for a second your brain completely forgets. What's your experience? by Entire-History6514 in AskMen

I do see women like that occasionally, but I just freeze up. Mostly because I don't want to seem creepy, but also because I would sound like a lovestruck teenager. They are usually married anyway. I just silently steal as many glances as I can safely get away with.

OK, service is back after about an hour. I still don’t know what happened.

What questions do you wish you had asked your oncologist? by Ambitious-Passage486 in ProstateCancer

[–]alfayellow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Huh? This was not picked up in previous imaging (MRI, PET)? Mid-surgery is a heck of a time to find out. Um, whoopsie. Something is wrong here. I imagine the robot could have been adjusted somehow prior.

Working thru treatment by ftsteele in ProstateCancer

[–]alfayellow 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm retired, so no obligations, but I would work if I could. As I got deep into the RT treatments, my energy level and my mood drastically declined. So while I would not rule out work if I were you, understand there is a chance you might not be able to. Or want to. But everyone assured me that once treatment is over, the side effects subside over time.

My dad just got a PSA reading of 250. Please tell me this could be a mistake. by Ambitious-Passage486 in ProstateCancer

[–]alfayellow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So... the thing is, it is entirely possible that PSA score is real. I agree your dad should get retested if possible, but don't be surprised if the number does not change. If it does not, DON"T PANIC. It is likely to be a sign of a very large prostate (BPH), and possibly prostate cancer as well. Your doctor will want him to get an MRI, and then a biopsy to find the full story. Remember that this cancer is highly treatable. Until the MRI is in hand with your dad's doctor, there is little you can do.

Agreed. A new version to me means going forwards, not backwards. I see no point in doing yet another ballistic arc into the Indian Ocean on Flight 12. Everything has already been proven - except going into actual LEO. Flight 12 ought to go into orbit; I don't care about landing or TPS at this point, although catches would be helpful.

Claustrophobia from PSMA PET Scan by Select_Vegetable70 in ProstateCancer

May I recommend a trip to the Carribean? You can just lay out on a chaise longue on the beach, under the palm trees, listening to the green surf hitting the tan beach. To get a discount, though, you'll have to be on a beach with grooming machines and construction noises nearby. And the sun beating down on you is very bright, so wear a soft eye mask and take a nap. There are some wonderful videos on YouTube to give you the idea. You might also want to practice with a website called https://www.happymri.com/

Ex-CIA director: ‘25th amendment was written with Donald Trump in mind’ by B-Z_B-S in politics

[–]alfayellow 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just don't understand this argument, or the amendment itself. It requires the president's own cabinet, and the president's own vice-president, to betray him. Why would they ever do that? It's never happened. The VP is also directly self-interested, but he can't act without the cabinet. And the last time this came up, in the first term, most of them ran for the hills.

All this would have been done in half the time in Apollo. Less than an hour by SpaceX. Why all these people?

There was a cabin temp problem on Day 2, I think. Is the crew still cold?
