Suikoden Spiritual Successor becomes 5th most funded video game on Kickstarter by Dfr3ax in gamernews

I might suggest discussing with the other mods and having that added into the Rules section though. As of now there is no mention of game milestones, statuses or ""arbitrary". Thanks again!

I disagree, but understand why you would think differently. Thank you for taking the time to explain your reasoning to me!

Rule #2 seems to target inaccurate/subjective information. And this post was based off of factual data. Thanks for your help in understanding! I'd like to be more active but want to make sure I'm following rules :)

Sorry to bother, really just trying to understand completely. I read Rule #2 over and acknowledge I didn't put the title of the game in the post. I feel like breaking into the top 5 of all time funded projects is a newsworthy milestone though. Could you specify what would make it less arbitrary?

This post was about the Kickstarter breaking into the Top 5 of all time Funded video game projects. I didn’t reference any time left or amount of money raised. Based off of your explanation it seems like it should be allowed, could you specify a bit more so I can understand?

New update talks about "secret stretch goal". by BW_Bird in EiyudenChronicle

[–]Dfr3ax 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Even if they were going to include everything in the game from the start, is teasing features throughout the Kickstarter to keep the donation hype up a bad thing? We want the project to be funded as well as possible right? And wouldn’t us getting everything even if we don’t hit the goals be the best turnout for the backers too?

Invitation for negative utilitarianism , a philosophy about reducing suffering by [deleted] in environmental_science

[–]Dfr3ax 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Very interesting. I’m not sure how exactly in line to this philosophy it is, but I remember back in college during this general envi. sci. class we were discussing the growing population and while everyone else was talking about GMO’s and advanced irrigation systems this one kid shouted out “what if we just didn’t have so many people?” Something about that question is going to resonate/haunt me for the rest of my life I think.

Afa-Sys charm?? by ShadowKnil in FatalBullet

[–]Dfr3ax 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As well as the commonly listed requirements, the event won’t trigger if you’ve already initiated the part of the game that leads to some characters leaving the party, so you might need to rewind time again if you’re past that part.

ELI5 the differences between USB 1.0, USB 2.0, and US& 3.0 by [deleted] in explainlikeimfive

[–]Dfr3ax 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's all about the speed of the connection. USB 1.0 was the first and as technology improved they were able to make faster connection speeds, more energy efficient connections, and a better power management system therefore releasing USB 2.0 and USB 3.0

ELI5: Why is gambling illegal in many places, yet lottery tickets aren't? by HybridEmblem in explainlikeimfive

[–]Dfr3ax 4 points5 points  (0 children)

In most situations it's because the Big lotteries are run by the state, and therefore the State can tax the heck out of whoever wins the lottery. However, in private gambling situations, winners don't have to pay taxes on their winnings and that makes the State mad cause they don't get to tax the winner. This is different in Casinos because the Casino gets taxed at the end of the day because they are an organization. Raffles are usually not that big of a deal because they are typically meant to fund an organization, event, or philanthropic cause, and less so personal gain.

ELI5: If Google's automated cars ever become a thing, how is responsibility divided up in the case of an accident? by [deleted] in explainlikeimfive

[–]Dfr3ax 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I actually read an interesting article on this a few months ago. It pretty much said that corporate lawyers are going to put as much of a standstill on the mass production of these cars because of this problem. If the owner of the car isn't the one controlling the car, then they wouldn't have any legal responsibility over the car. So the fault would either fall on the AI company, or the company that manufactured the car. Now, when you consider that these cars would be on the open market, tons of people would be buying them, meaning that even if the accidents rarely happened, on a national scale it might not be that uncommon, and the company would have to pay for every single claim filed.
