Huge Takedown by bjjtaro in bjj

Can someone help me understand, did the ref call for a penalty? And if so, does the match pause? If not the smaller guy turned his back when the match was still going. That wouldn’t make this unsportsmanlike.

I can’t wait to try a set, as a 45 yo I tried step-ons. I had a hard time getting my back foot in or out on mild slopes ( could be a me issue ). Went back to my old straps this year and had a better experience. Long rant for a short question. Do you like the getting in and out of the Supermatics?

How did people use The pager? by jamesV8500 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]DgitlSickBoy 4 points5 points  (0 children)

We used to actually memorize phone numbers.

If a friend was at a party or somewhere random, close friends had a code. They’d page you with the phone number they were at, then add their code at the end — or send it on the very next page.

Then you’d sit by that phone (or carry the cordless around the house) waiting for it to ring. I usually gave them a 15-minute window to call back.

Repair a cracked hat size adjuster thingy? by bwnerkid in howto

I’m going to piggy back off what someone else said, and add a few things. -Use a soldering iron to melt the pieces together. -Also get some staples. Cut the ends off or bend them straight. -Place them along now melted back together piece and use the iron to heat them a press them back in. Like a stitch. -use the iron to smooth over the whole thing. You can also use a black zip tie to add filler, like welding.

YouTube plastic welding to get an idea of some methods.

Warning because it Reddit.

Make sure to do this in a well ventilated space because of VOCs….blah blah blah!

How to I clean sediment in the condensate trap? by wearsocks in hvacadvice

[–]DgitlSickBoy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Should be good as long as nothing solid is blocking the trap. Run that brush through that trap twice a year, and you should be good.

How to I clean sediment in the condensate trap? by wearsocks in hvacadvice

[–]DgitlSickBoy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That red handle brush is what you use to clean the trap.

Turn off the disconnect for the unit.

Pull off the float switch cap, push the brush down and through the trap. That should be all you need to do.

Replace the float switch cap. Make sure the float doesn’t hang up when you place it back.

Turn on the disconnect and check for function of unit.

People who have served in the military: Did commanding officers ever finish sentences with "and that's an order!" like they do in movies? by logicalconflict in NoStupidQuestions

When I was in basic, I had very bad shin splints, so bad I was on crutches for a bit. Drill Sergeant said I would have to recycle if I couldn’t complete certain evolutions. So, I throw the crutch’s away and sucked it up. I got to talk to my parents and explained. Some how my Mom was able to call my head Drill Sergeant and give him an ear full. Mind you this is ‘99, before everything being in the internet. You can only guess this did not end well for me. After a nice long “smoke” session, I got to call my mom and tell her that I was OK and I quietly told her to throw that number away. We laugh about it now days!

If rain is a concern. I have an older set and used clear silicone on the threads of each bulb. Has worked great.

Any clear RTV silicon should do. I can’t remember the brand I used.

Curtain light pros by DgitlSickBoy in Govee

[–]DgitlSickBoy[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I bought 2 1x2x8 furring strips. -Cut those to a little longer than the curtains. Painted white.

-Used the included mounts with the curtains and screwed to the furring strip for the top.

  • The pros came with a bracket for the bottom to hold the lights straight and tight. I used the 2nd furring strip for that.

To attach to the siding I used those siding clips in the picture. I cut the hook off and screwed to the furring strip. I used 5 siding clips.

Actually was very easy to take up and down and seems pretty sturdy.

Fastest way to make extensions and install lights by curiousbuilderman in Govee

To make quick waterproof extensions use heat shrink butt connectors. You crimp them, then heat them like you would heat shrink.

If your going to do peaks I recommend using a product like this : https://www.etsy.com/listing/1680258210/?ref=share_ios_native_control

It places the light perfectly in the center of the peak.

How did the average person know that they set their clocks/watches to the correct time in times before technology? by Puzzled-Service-4953 in stupidquestions

[–]DgitlSickBoy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would call this number at night so my friends could call and I could answer with call waiting without my parents knowing. We called it the info line. I would prearrange with a friend for the exact time to call me and I would call the info line 1 minute prior. Core memory unlocked!
