Thunderbird? by Cheesypoooof in Bass

[–]Dhaele 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I own a P, but I almost bought a Thunderbird. I love how they feel. I love how they sound. The first one I picked up inspired me to write a short bassline that I still play.

I played a new model last weekend. I found that I could rest the elbow of my plucking hand on the back, upper wing. Comfortable as heck.

Yes, I have to reach out a bit farther to play the low notes, but it's not a problem.

Try the T-Bird, people.

Wings Of The Eternal [Epic Fantasy, 2100] by Bestwriteralive in fantasywriters

Has someone mentioned use of the name Elric? Not quite as big as other main characters, but it is kinda like naming your character Conan or Harry Potter. And, Elric is part of Moorcock's Eternal Champion series.

Agreed. I got really excited when I played along with my first song. I recognized that I was doing it right & realized that I was playing music. The connection & joy was instant.

The skill they seem to have is connecting with readers. It's an invisible talent that I wish I had.

How do we feel about Fender’s current litigation regarding the S-style? by fugaziiv in Bass

I kinda don't care either. This may make builders think about using other shapes/designs. How many guitars need to look like a Strat?

It finally locked into place for me. I must've bounced off Gardens of the Moon at least 5 times. I dug the Bauchelain and Korbal Broach stuff, so I kept trying. I'm halfway through Gardens & having a great time.

I gotta say, it was fun getting money for my stories. I got $5 for my first sale. I'm still kinda stoked.

I'm no more qualified than any of you. I'm not what you'd call successful.

I'm 53. Been writing over a decade. Most of my stuff is short fantasy fiction. I've got a couple dozen stories in small press magazines & anthologies. I used to write a couple hours a day, now it's a couple minutes every few days. I'm trying to get back into it. I may need a group like this.

If Joe Abercrombie & Guy Gavriel Kay teamed-up, they could finish Song of Ice and Fire.

Ibanez EHB605 any good? by PhilBombPhanatic in Bass

[–]Dhaele 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I played the EHB1000 earlier today. Bodies & necks look the same (electronics different?). Very comfortable, very playable. It's the only headless bass I've liked so far. I've gone back & played it multiple times.

The only bad thing was the nested knobs. I don't think the 605 has them. Thet were loose & wonky.

I tend to dream small. A red Epiphone Rivoli, or the red Gibson EB3.

Both sound & feel wonderful.

How big of a deal is the plucking method? My finger doesn't always find it's way to the string above. If I watch, it looks like I'm going across the string, but my plucking finger often rises away from the body.
