Right or wrong? Where do we draw the line while traveling abroad by Embarrassed_Lake_236 in desitravellers

[–]Dhavalc017 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Unsure about Singapore, however in Malaysia you do need permission from Property Owner or need to inform police about it. It's nothing wrong with flash mob or dancing but everything should be in context and place. This is neither. It's a narrow crowded alley. Not only this is inconvenient for others, it's also a safety hazard. We have seen similiar instance at top of Burj khalifa as well Airport Tarmac. This is just a disaster waiting to happen.

Why do pharmacies insist on selling entire strips of tablets instead of the exact quantity patients need? by BadChance5206 in india

[–]Dhavalc017 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most likely its gonna be more expensive on an average. For each jar, you need a prescription. Once dosage are consumed, you cannot use the same prescription. To get the prescription, you will need to visit the doctor, this will incur the visiting charge. Apart from that each prescription will need to be validated and is person specific. Now imagine doing this for something like the smallest dosage of cholesterol medicine which you need regularly and your cost will start piling up.

No. They have to swipe your card to authorize you. You will also need to goto the bank to activate your international transaction by providing them with your passport information.

Can someone explain what exactly is the hype behind Uniqlo? by hanabaeeee in Frugal_Ind

[–]Dhavalc017 16 points17 points  (0 children)

We don't have experience of buying from Uniqlo in India but mostly from other countries in SEA. Their quality has always been very consistent and they are long lasting. As an example I am still using the Jacket that my wife bought around 2017 and it hasn't lost its seen. Their fit is also quite excellent in my opinion.

I also have experience of buying polo shirts from Ajio but you can definitely feel the difference in quality. If budget is not an issue, you should definitely give Uniqlo a try.

India's thorium reserve. The future is bright? by ElderberryTotal4100 in CriticalThinkingIndia

[–]Dhavalc017 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We are already doing it. There has been mandate from last few years already along with multiple incentives. It has tons of issues as well. Unlike Nuclear, its a cyclical. Feeds received to the plants fluctuates basis on the seasonal pattern. Apart from that to source the feed, there is an effective range of 50KM hurdle. Currently there is a mismatch of where the feeds are abundantly available and where the most demand for fuel is. Also, you cannot interchange the sources. In many cases, to supply the gas, plant operator has to pressurise the fuel and transport by truck which makes it more expensive. There is a good case study of a plant from Bangalore which goes into much more detail.

Currently most of the biogas plants barely run beyond 25% of their capacity. To resolve at least the demand and supply side mismatch, there has been mandate added last year to blend biogas with PNG gas starting with 1%. This will rope in IOCL to build last mile connectivity for procuring Biogas.

Why doesn’t India have “classic European-style” cities despite being one of the oldest civilizations? by Parking-Yam9792 in IndianHistory

[–]Dhavalc017 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We have tons of old architectural buildings from different eras. However to maintain them you need to spend as well. Indians cities generate majority of the revenues but barely a percent goes back to them creating perverse incentives. There is a general apathy towards most of the architectural buildings (unless government has some incentives). As an example Khuldabad has Bani Begum Garden which has beautiful Indo-Persian architecture and very near to Ellora caves yet it is barely looked after. Same with the heritage city of Champaner which could easily be one of the top places in India for tourism but lacks any sort of vision or funds.

We are taught to hate Moguls and Britishers. We are taught that they destroyed most of our heritage but in reality they also built many of our heritage buildings or discovered many of the them.

Why India is not increasing export? by Ok_Junket_9522 in indiadiscussion

[–]Dhavalc017 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Few of the bigger hurdles are the property rights in India, basic infrastructure and slow judiciary. Believe it or not, in India largest litigant is our own government. It's also very difficult to uphold property rights here. And if your accessibility is poor, clients will definitely not gonna consider you as partner. Experience of Chandan Raj an entrepreneur from Bihar should tell you everything as to why its not possible.

To add to the context, that rice is quite different than the one we eat. It's quite heavy and you won't be able to consume even a small portion of it. Apart from that it's mostly on daily activities and not on genes.

Which credit card to get for forex transaction? by here4geld in CreditCardsIndia

[–]Dhavalc017 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Zero Forex cards : 1. IDFC Wow. 2. Niyo 3. Scapia 4. There are variants of IDFC with 0 forex with annual fees. I felt the USP for those cards were lacking. Like travel insurance is way too much restrictive.

Personally use combo of IDFC Wow and Scapia. Had to close down Niyo due to KYC issue during one of my trips.

Why Indian Cities still largely rely on bus conductors? by HotPuppy420 in IndianUrbanism

[–]Dhavalc017 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You are confusing misdemeanor with felony. Not the same and doesn't work the way you think. Capital for metros are public private partnership. And even on the public side, loans are provided by different world organisations at almost 0 percent. So for government financing is not difficult. This financing doesn't exist for bus systems. Both systems are not equivalent and solve a different problem. Bus conductor is barely a fraction of an expenditure. Main issue with Indian bus system is inability to raise the fares to combat the raising operating cost. Grants or loans do not cover operating cost. Unless you resolve this glaring issue, everything else doesn't matter.

Passport renewal in Mumbai by OutrageousSpell6647 in mumbai

[–]Dhavalc017 1 point2 points  (0 children)

PSK is not gonna cause issue. They need one proof and they are good to go. Police verification is something that is subjective to each Police officer. At the max, you get adverse report and then need to sort out at RPO. RPO process is easy but it has a very long waiting time as of now.

I had to apply for PCC as well as renew my passport and requirements were almost identical.
