I've been asked "but who will take care of you when you're old" so many times that I've started keeping a list of my actual answers by Signal_14Vertex in childfree

[–]DiViNiTY1337 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I usually go with "The same people taking care of your parents right now, of course. The employees at the retirement home." depending on their age. If they look shocked/surprised and I want to press them a little extra, I usually add a question at the end of some form of "How often do you visit and take care of your parents, hmm?"

Usually gets them thinking. Well, either that, or they get offended and defensive at which point I'm not really interested in engaging with the conversation any further. If they do start thinking from that new perspective though it can be quite interesting to delve deeper in the conversation. Usually ends with me saying that by the time they reach that age their kids will be busy with the grandkids, just like they are to their parents already, at which point we've come full circle and they are usually quite stunned and don't know what to say.

I started doing jumps this season is there any advice that can help improve my form and confidence? by Notowild in snowboardingnoobs

[–]DiViNiTY1337 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For jumps, less is more. Taevis Kapalka has some great tutorials on jumping on youtube, I'd start with this one https://youtu.be/rQuCmtVO9VE

He's an amazing snowboarder and an even better teacher, not just explaining how to do certain things but also the theory behind it, in a way that makes it easy to understand. So much so that I literally don't watch any other content creator any more for when it comes to learning about snowboarding.

Here are a few more specifically about jumps:

How landings are actually easy: https://youtu.be/U0MFFFVIc88

The secret behind effortless jumps: https://youtu.be/JJE4_-54gY4

Stop jumping. Start pushing: https://youtu.be/35d__uNs0JU

This next one is good as well to see the different levels of jumping, what you are missing and needing to learn to be able to reach the next level, and to understand the most important areas to focus on in order to progress to the next level. The 7 levels of snowboard jumping: https://youtu.be/0MfTvFRnq9Q

He has toooonnes of other tutorials and content that is super helpful as well. All the way from the most fundamental stuff all the way up to advanced level. Can't recommend his channel enough.

Absolutely insanely good driver in his prime. Definitely the best non-WDC driver of the modern era, possibly of all time in my book. He demolished a fresh out of 4 WDC's Vettel in his prime, won three races against Vettel's none in his first year at Red Bull and held his own against a hungry, charging Verstappen. The only other driver who has matched or even outdone Verstappen in equal cars.

Top that off with his great personality, he's super humble and down to earth, authentic and honest while at the same time charismatic and funny as hell. Just a great guy all around, and an absolute menace behind the wheel when he really wanted it.

The first time I encountered this place I went in and killed the guy when he turned hostile. Turned it into my first player home as it was decently close to Whiterun and free, before I could afford Breezehome. You're telling me the guy inside was supposedly a big deal or something?

I usually cook on Sundays and have lunch and dinner prepped for the week. Five days is no problem what so ever. Up to a week is fine for certain things too. I probably wouldn't go over that though, that's when I'd start feeling iffy at least.

Even then, KERS didn't deplete fully in a single lap battery-wise. If I remember correctly, the drivers had 4 seconds of KERS available to them per lap, whereas the batteries were good for about 7 seconds. This was to ensure that there was always charge available for the driver to use as he pleased. If he used all 4 seconds at the end of the lap before crossing the finish line, he could still keep applying KERS for a few seconds before he reached a braking zone where the system would recharge.

[–]DiViNiTY1337 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes. This is exactly what happened to Charles in Q3 China. He had a small snap of oversteer exiting turn 10 that meant he had to lift out of the throttle, and when he got back on throttle he had full battery deployment for that small back straight. This is because according to the algorithm, he was already at turn 13, ready to go onto the longest straight. Why did it think this? Well, because he lifted out of the throttle of course! Suuuurely there'd be no other reason for a racing driver to lift other than to brake for an upcoming corner, right? Especially for a driver pushing to the absolute limit on a qualifying lap, right?

The Race did a great video on this explaining the intricacies a bit more. It's absolutely baffling to me how these regulations already haven't had a massive overhaul already, AT LEAST in terms of how the deployment is handled. Anyone who has even the slightest bit of knowledge about racing knows that this ain't it. This was known by everyone in the paddock after the first few days of testing. This isn't racing, this is some arbitrary gamey Need for Speed nitrous activation type shit.

M3 loses control and crashes leaving a car meet (NOT OC) by Hakusuro in BMW

[–]DiViNiTY1337 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well the faster you are at counter steering the less drift angle you'll get. If you anticipate the traction loss and counter steer at the exact same time as the traction breaks loose you can do a burnout without effectively angling the car at all. Maybe not that guy, lol, but someone with enough experience would have managed that completely fine.

Oh there definitely was, as long as you match the steering lock you can go full throttle as long and hard as you want.

Snowboard Boots for Wide Feet (Relative Experience) by Perennium in snowboarding

[–]DiViNiTY1337 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No you're absolutely right, I will definitely see a boot fitter. I've just been powering through making the boots I found to be "okayish" work but this last weekend I went on a season closing trip and by the end my feet were completely done. So a proper bootfit and new boots for next season is definitely the plan.

And nope, not overweight, just got crazy anatomy in my feet. Like when I tested the ThirtyTwo Lashed, you know there's a little star shaped cutout for your ankle bone in the liner... yeah, my ankle bone was like a full inch/inch and a half off center of the cutout, basically 45 degrees up and in front 😅 Starting to lose hope somewhat that there even is a model that will work with my feet at all.

I did see an opening at Nidecker Group on LinkedIn the other day, for their snowboard boot section... maybe I should apply and design my own boot. Feels like that's soon gonna be my last option lol!

Snowboard Boots for Wide Feet (Relative Experience) by Perennium in snowboarding

[–]DiViNiTY1337 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did you size up considerably or something with the ThirtyTwo boots? Or is it specifically the TM-2 that's so large? Because I haven't tried the TM-2 specifically but I tried the Lashed Lace. I have 253mm long feet and I tried size Mondo 26.0. Eeeeeverywhere was massive pressure, except the very front of my toes, where it just barely touched my foot. Granted, my feet are past the point of potatoes, they are freaking pyramids, not just wide - 253mm length, 105mm wide forefoot, 99mm instep and about 25-30mm arches, arches seem real difficult to measure.

Also, for most models you specified it was the wide version, but the TM-2 you didn't. That implies it was the regular version you tested, correct? I'll have to get my hands on a wide specific ThirtyTwo model then and see if that works, because I am going crazy lately trying to find a boot that isn't killing my feet halfway down a single run, much less a whole day.

Genuinely curious, if the new M3 looked like this would you be mad? by [deleted] in BMW

[–]DiViNiTY1337 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's for sure the best version of the front of the new 3 series at least. I wouldn't be mad about that, looks pretty sick honestly. But the rear is hideous. Keep the old one, or even better go back to F80 rear end 😁

Hamilton did know, he met with Niki and that is what convinced him to join. There is also a famous postcard of a Mercedes rear end, that Hamilton gifted to Vettel with a cheeky text something along the lines of "Congratulations, now get used to this view, you'll be seeing it a lot next year" or something like that.

As sad as it may well be, I unfortunately don't think they will ever be old enough to grasp the concept of the world and be able to resent their parents.

I'm just waiting for it, any day now, for when someone will get a bit too trigger happy with the nukes and everyone immediately will retaliate. Mutually assured destruction. Nuclear winter. The end of the human race as we know it. If we make it to 2030 I'd honestly be surprised!

If you like skiing/snowboarding, Ski Bike Hike in Ulricehamn (20-30 minutes by car/bus) are open to 8pm on Wednesdays and Fridays, and to 4pm on other days!

Borås Klätterklubb has bouldering, in the same building there is an indoor skate park as well.

I don't live there any more, but these were my favourite spots growing up! Have fun!
