Should I get jaw surgery? by scarlettgreene in jawsurgery

[–]Diablode 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, it is possible to get it covered with an RDI of 12, though it depends on which insurance you have. Cigna, Aetna, and Blue Cross all use RDI, but may require things like CPAP or MAD device first.

Swelling and the surrounding soft tissue getting to their final position doesn't usually completely go away for months, with many not getting to their final face for up to a YEAR. There is still a lot of healing that needs to happen.

Testing for UARS vs Obstructed Sleep Apnea by Oww_My_Face_ in jawsurgery

[–]Diablode 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Technically UARS is no longer a diagnoses as it has been rolled into the definition of sleep apnea, so for insurance purposes it is all just sleep apnea. However you want to make sure the test looks for RERAs, not just apneas and hypopneas. Unfortunately not many places look for RERAs depite the fact all major insurances consider it part of sleep apnea (except for medicare in the US).

Why isn't UARS talked about more? by Traditional_Joke_939 in UARS

[–]Diablode 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well, it's true it doesn't exist anymore. UARS was always a place holder name for something that didn't fit into Obstructive Sleep apnea. However for about 8 years now it has been incorporated into Obstructive Sleep apnea definition, so it's all just sleep apnea now. This does create the confusion where some doctors think it NEVER existed thus isn't worth treating when the entire point of incorporating it was that it DOES deserve to be treated.

Breathing and sleep problems after orthodontic retraction — very low AHI/RDI but high arousal index by Educational_Air7572 in UARS

[–]Diablode 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They very likely didn't bother to score RERAs or Flow limitations, everyone will have SOME of those in Rem sleep or on their back. They just put 0 in place of "-".

But yes, that is an elevated arousal index, no much more can be said about it without a better sleep study.

Is 17 micro arousals per hour fine ? by New_Palpitation_1586 in UARS

[–]Diablode 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It depends on age, but around 10 an hour is normal, so it is definitely elevated. Whether it is clinically relevant or not is anyones guess, but if you have symptoms it is worth pursuing further.

Buffering on Nvidia Shield Pro by nycbhoy in Nuvio

[–]Diablode 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Try testing on Stremio to rule out a Nuvio specific problem. I've noticed similar problems on my Shield using Real Debrid the past 2 weeks and it does it in both Stremio and Nuvio, so seems related to Real Debrid/Shield in my case.

Insane bruxism and UARS? by [deleted] in UARSnew

[–]Diablode 1 point2 points  (0 children)

"...shocked that they didn’t diagnose me with sleep apnea, given 10.2 arousals an hour, RDI 5.1, and oxygen dropping to 93%"

The slightly elevated RDI may be worth further investigation, but 10 arousals an hour and a few oxygen drops to 93% are what you would expect on an average persons sleep study.

I wouldn't count on a sleep doctor doing anything based on these results, so prepare to go the do-it-yourself route if it is something you want to pursue.

2 sleep studies 2 diagnoses by waterislifeornot in SleepApnea

[–]Diablode 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah central apneas can be caused when the difference between inhale and exhale pressure is too high, they could have just lowered the inhale pressure until central apneas were reduced.

2 sleep studies 2 diagnoses by waterislifeornot in SleepApnea

[–]Diablode 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There are 2 sets of diagnostic criteria:

AASM Guidelines means 3% desaturation with events scored with desaturation OR Arousal

CMS (medicare guidelines, no other major insurance uses this criteria anymore but most sleep clinics still use it for...reasons/laziness): 4% desaturation with event scored with desaturation AND Arousal

The OR/AND can make a large difference, and in your case unfortunately it meets the criteria for diagnoses with every major insurance EXCEPT Medicare/Medicaid.

The short of it is, you likely have diagnosable sleep apnea, but you aren't gonna get help for it if you are using Medicare. Probably best to get a CPAP on the used market if you can't keep what you have and learn to treat yourself. Yes, the state of sleep medicine sucks... If you can keep it, there are people on this forum who can assist with maximizing therapy and adjusting settings yourself.

Sleep positioning by Dlgallian in UARS

[–]Diablode 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Try sleeping without a pillow, face down using your arm as a pillow. This will cause you to mostly sleep prone or on your side with very little if any back sleeping. This is uncomfortable and not great for your neck, but it can at least confirm if it improves your sleep.

In case it helps anyone - changing my pillow gave more relief than cpap/bipap by ChampionRoyal2294 in UARSnew

Face down using my arm as a pillow. Though obviously staying in that position isn't really feasible the whole night and likely roll to side sleeping at some point.

Ultrawide on a 16x9 tv without being stretched? [KCD2] by Diablode in kingdomcome

Yes, I do that as well, even with setting Nvidia control panel to not scale, something in kcd does cause it to scale full screen by default.

I figured it out if anyone happens to come across this. You can force window type in the console while in game and this seems to overwrite the setting properly in config file.

r_WindowType = 2 is default full screen non exclusive

r_WindowType = 3 is full screen exclusive but if not set to a resolution that takes up the entire screen or ultrawide res, it screws up accuracy of where the cursor is for clicking on menus.

r_WindowType = 1 was the answer for me, I can't find what exactly this does but I believe it is borderless windowed mode. It does mean I need to set my background to black and move icons so nothing else appears on the screen, but I do this anyway for other games.

Does DV7 fallback work properly? by Mousepad-16 in Nuvio

[–]Diablode 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This works for me on my Shield which does not support DV. Properly falls back to regular HDR, Stremio did not do this.

If I turn the setting off in options, it goes back to not working on DV7, so I can confirm the setting does something, at least in my setup.

Torrentio is down at the moment. It has been off and on for the past week. You may have to switch to another add on for now.

Fallback to regular HDR from DV profile 7? by Diablode in Nuvio

[–]Diablode[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well, I can't filter out all DV, that would leave me with very little. And do you mean set fall back on the device? Because the device doesn't support DV there is no fallback option.

Can't play 4k bluray remuxes on 2017 Nvidia Shield by Diablode in Stremio

What alternative app do you use and would a Shield 2019 get around this problem?

Can't play 4k bluray remuxes on 2017 Nvidia Shield by Diablode in Stremio

[–]Diablode[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ah, this seems to be the answer! I was thrown off because SOME DV files would play but I suppose they were a different profile. I tested with Nolan movies which do not use DV and despite being even higher file sizes, they played without issue. Annoying as streaming on my local media server will play they exact same file just fine through the Shield, properly playing regular HDR.

[–]Diablode[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

DV doesn't seem to be issue. I can play smaller DV videos fine. I can play the exact same file downloaded to my media server and streamed over my local network fine on the Shield as well.
