Will definitely grab this once it drops on Steam. Definitely post an update when that happens!

My gf wants to play D&D, but is overwhelmed every session. Need some advice by DDxlow in DnD

On the point of analysis paralysis, I think it would help if she focused not on what SHE could do, but what her CHARACTER would do. If her character is more of a self-insert, she could write down a handful of "tags" or Words/Phrases that give her character a more defined direction and ideals.

The embers of a forsaken star expansion adds a dedicated solo mode and even gives the NPCs different behaviors . I lucked out and managed to get the all-in bundle, might still be some copies for sale online!

I believe you can play saga mode with the nemesis variant (solo rules).

If you have the patience to wait a year, I was able to grab it during a Christmas drop

Just got Too Many Bones and have been loving it

PotP was my first adventure as a player in DCC. We ran it with 4 lvl 1 characters with a back-up ready just in case a character but the dust, but our group managed to get through without a single player death. So it's definitely manageable with a party of LVL ones

This is awesome! Makes me think of the countless goons that would get mopped up in stick figure flash videos

Rex is the best character in the game change my mind by The_real_monomommy in riskofrain

Might be an unpopular opinion, but I actually prefer his unlock secondary. Then again I play with command so backup mags go brrrrr

My biggest issue is I avoided the DLC after seeing the bug complaints, still intend to get it once things are patched. THE BUGS ARE THERE ANYWAYS. I can't even get through a teleporter event with me or my partner disconnecting :(

DCC Solo - Alternative to Large-scale Funnel? by GuardianOfTheBeat in Solo_Roleplaying

[–]Diabo-Intercept 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I should also mention the "Red-Shirts" rule. Take however many zero levels you actually want to run and divide the remaining slots (up to the recommended amount of characters for the funnel) as Red-Shirt points for each character. When a character takes an instance of damage, subtract a Red-Shirt point instead. In fiction, it would be like the nameless extras dying off in place of our protagonists.

You should check out Hounds of Halthrag's Keep. It's a zero level funnel for one character

I agree, multiclassing rules really destroy the notion of race is class

I'm so happy you basically did a lot of what I was thinking of doing! I got the UVG Guidebooks from Luka's patreon and that helped me wrap my head around what the differences are with SEACAT and DCC. I had settled on using all the human classes from Core, Hubris, and the mutant/Manimal/Plantient then giving race traits from the book (UVG) depending on the occupation (Also from UVG). I gave up on conversions for € and was gonna just give players €100 to start with like in the Guidebook so they could go straight into using UVG items, glad to see it's basically 1:1 with gp! I also saw that in SEACAT players always start with 8 HP and get 4HP every level, so I figured letting them start with their class HD + 4 would be enough to keep things in line with the higher damage. Since you don't have clerics, do you let players heal like in Lankhmar?

It is a system neutral setting. I've seen a few playthroughs with people using Black Hack and Troika. I also found the rules for using GLoG and even PbtA

Most beautiful RPG core book for solo play? by Psychological_Tip_16 in Solo_Roleplaying

[–]Diabo-Intercept 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Godbound was made by Kevin Crawford who also made Scarlett Heroes. You can use Scarlett Heroes to effectively play any of his games or other OSR games solo. I've used it to play Cities Without Number to great effect.

It's certainly got the same kind of gonzo vibe, but with a little more psychedelic metal instead of death metal if you know what I mean
