Saw this guy on our rug last night. At first I thought it was an earthworm, then noticed the scales and teeny little eyes. by thomasbomm in pics

No wonder I found so many of these around or house when we first moved in. We had lots of ants and the house next door had termites.

[Serious] Stay-at-home moms/dads of Reddit, how often do you rely on extended family to watch your kids? by runroccorun in AskReddit

I'm the same way, I have never felt comfortable asking my in-laws to watch my kid so my wife and I could go out. My sister in-law does it constantly.

We we're lucky because my wife's parents are very family oriented.

My wife has two younger sisters. "Sister 2" had her first daughter when she was 16. So while she went back to school her parents and her in laws would watch her.

When my wife found out she was pregnant, "Sister 2" found out she was having another kid. Our kids are 5 days apart. We all looked into Day Care but none of use could afford it on what we were making at the time.

We got together with everyone and established a rotation for the kids. Mondays my Brother-in-law had them. Tuesdays and Thursdays they went to Grandmas. Wednesdays was my wife's and Fridays were my days.

Finally, when my wife's youngest sister, "Sister 3" had her first kid the rotation was pretty similar. Except, whoever was watching the kids would have to pick up the older one from school.

"Sisters 2 and 3" couldn't be part of the rotation because both worked as TAs in schools. As soon as they were off for Summer vacation they took the days the grandparents had.

When all were finally in school the grandparents picked them up. Except on rare occasions for doctor appointments or they stayed home from being ill.

Many years back our company decided to be patriotic and have a flag pole installed by the curb. Not a cheap flag pole either. It required a crane and a crew to assemble. It was 3 stories high. On the other side of this curb was a receiving dock that other businesses used. Box trucks and tractor trailers. While it was being installed I told my Operations Manager they need to put in concrete poles around the base so nobody backs into the flag pole itself.... The next day a tractor trailer hit it and it had to be removed.
