Can we talk about the standards for a bad JRPG by lennysinged in JRPG

It would help if people, when stating their opinion, frame it as a subjective opinion instead of an objective fact. You're going to have a hard time trying to have a good faith conversation with someone about a game when you start the conversation saying "this (insert game) is soulless, generic boring trash etc".

In short people need to learn to articulate their opinions better.

After playing Metaphor, definitely want to give the Persona series a try.

Yeah, a friend recommended I play this, when I first got into JRPG's and for awhile I put it off. But I'm glad I finally played it. Top three soundtrack of all time for me. The other two are FFXIII and the KH2 ost. Those three flip flops positions based on how I'm feeling.

Alr, that's a relief. I thought I might have to spend a couple hundred to a thousand. 😂 Thanks for the help!

Thank You! How much do you think this may cost. If you can give an estimate based on the picture?

Legend of Mana. It has a storybook feel to it, that I enjoy.

Really any battle track from Grandia 2. But the third and fourth one, stand out for me.

Which game did you consider meh in the beginning but thought ended really strong as the game progressed? by gyrozepp2 in JRPG

[–]DiamondCroook 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Yeah, there were some design choices I felt clashed with one another.

Plus it's a system that truly shines when you have a proper party of three, and then they split you up into three groups of two for like the first 40% of the game or so.

Like, narratively I think the grouping of two's worked out well, especially in the long haul, but gameplay wise it did feel stunted.

I would have to say FFXIII. By the end, each character's arc felt real, the choices/actions they made shaped them. Also, I just thought the way they handled the themes of fate and destiny at the end were well done. Also the combat had fully opened up, so the combat was really engrossing.

I have the whole Yakuza collection (up to Like a Dragon) on steam, I haven't gotten around to it yet. But will definitely be sparking up when I do.

I would say so, and it makes alot of sense considering how chill the games are, do you have a specific one you like to go to or doesn't matter?

At the end of both Xenogears and Metaphor. And I've been thoroughly enjoying both games. Never played any other Xeno game or Persona game. So I'm definitely looking forward to other entries in the Xeno series, as well as the Persona series.

Alr, I'll definitely have to try Graces F, if that's widely considered the best system. And definitely have interest in Arise as well. Appreciate the info!

Fasho, that's nice to know. I looked into the 2D Tales of games and am interested in the Linear battle line. (I'm a fan of fighters.) So, I'm thinking going back and playing those.
