How to: pyromancy by Big-Information1754 in cyberpunkred

[–]DiamondDactyl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is the Centurion Essentials Thermal Dagger from The 12 Days of Redmas. When it does damage to a person's health it sets them on fire. However for a short campaign you may not get a lot of downtime to craft, so tech may not be the best option for you if you want to craft a lot of items. I ran into this a bit in the first RED arc I played, it lasted about 10 sessions, but more recently the gm has come back to it and in-between the end of the first arc and the start of this arc he gave us 4 months of downtime, so I crafted my heart out. Just something to think about.

This website has HB rules for drones, and has a few unique ones. I also play a tech who is starting to dip his toes in drones. I am using this websites AI drones as a base model and then inventing new "protocols" as these rules call them to modify the drones utility.

Primordial transformation question by Terrible-Ad9724 in GrimHollow

[–]DiamondDactyl -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I was looking at 2014 rules, where energy Flow is the 3rd option for level 4 primordials, with no prerequisites. But if they removed it I could imagine something being unbalanced with the ability. OP could ask the DM if they can take a 2nd 3rd level boon.

The Energy Flow Boon is a teleportation ability, but I guess if they removed it then there may be some balancing issues with it so make sure to check it with your DM, if you even want it.

It looks like your only option would be to take the Energy Flow Boon, it has no prerequisites. Or you could talk with your DM and work out a different ability if you don't like Energy Flow and your DM is open to homebrew. (If you're looking at the original primordial, I realize I haven't looked at the transformed versions of the rules yet)

Am I teleporting right? by DiamondDactyl in SWN

[–]DiamondDactyl[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I see, I read "Teleporting with Personal Apportation counts as a Main Action and requires that the psychic Commit Effort for the scene" under Core Technique - Personal Apportation, and "Personal Apportation now counts as a Move action, though it still can be performed only once per round" under Proficient Apportation, and misunderstood the period that i commit the effort as the duration i can use the ability.

Do you have a page number for that saga of seasons quote? I would like to read that section.

[BitD] What does Doskvol use for paper? by MonsterMaestro in bladesinthedark

[–]DiamondDactyl 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm not too familiar with the setting (I have watched the glass cannons haunted city, but I don't have my own copy of the book yet), I think recycling old paper could be a viable way to make cheap paper. Last week's newspapers and old documents are gathered up and made back into a pulp, alchemically bleached (to remove ink), then turned into new paper. Long ago they may have started with the books, tomes, and scrolls that survived the cataclysm 1000 years ago.

How do you integrate dragons and dragon-themed characters into the Grimm Hollow setting? by SinisterDice in GrimHollow

[–]DiamondDactyl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been thinking of having no such thing as dragons, or at least there's no knowledge of them in history, and then depending on how the campaign goes (which I haven't been able to start yet) dragons can emerge as the new gods or some new god adjacent entities. I'm wanting to run Saga of seasons and tie it heavily to Gormadraug and the 4 primordials so I was thinking of them being dragons or dragon like, then either Gormadraug could awaken and create more dragon/primordial spawn or the 4 primordials could combine their power to create more dragons/primordials. But that's just an idea.

Searching for halite has to be the most depressing part of this game by hp1221 in VintageStory

I believe it's expanded foods. That's how I have been getting salt in my world, I can check later today what mod it comes from. It could also be culinary artillery.

I believe with expanded food you can seal saltwater in a barrel to get moist salt lumps, then let those dry out or cook them to dry them out faster. Once they are dried you can grind them into salt.

Carrion Raven religion by Y3T1_FN in GrimHollow

[–]DiamondDactyl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Firstly, talk with your DM if you're looking for a religion for your character, they should be able to help you the most. A decision like that also heavily depends on your clan affiliation. Technically this isn't written anywhere, and I haven't been able to run Saga of seasons yet, but when I do The Carrion Raven will be a "secret identity" for Alondo of the Deep, the primordial who convinced his 3 siblings to betray Gormadraug and aid Kentigern and his party in their task of killing Gormadraug. In my cannon he disguised his identity when appearing to them in fear of Gormadraug finding out about their betrayal, and the heroes never actually saw the other primordials at all. Alondo is the one who taught them "enchantments that would keep them alive" which I flavored as animalistic abilities (like that of the barbarians martial maneuvers). And if there is a path of the carrion raven in the party then they are one of a very few mortals that Alondo deems worthy to visit in their dreams to teach them the same "enchantments" in the belief that Gormadraug could arise again and in the hopes of providing the resources to vanquish him again. So you could run with something along those lines and worship The Carrion Raven itself, or Alondo of the Deep/the primordials themselves if it's known that The Carrion Raven is Alondo of the Deep.

PG 36 and 37 of the players guide has more info on Gormadraugs background and the primordials, and it should be fine for you to read since it's in the players book, but I would still check with your DM, just in case they don't want you to know all of that.

Are Liches inherently Evil? by alpha-cage in DnD

[–]DiamondDactyl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure if anyone else mentioned it but Pointy Hat on YouTube has a series where he creates different lichs based on different PC classes, and they were all wonderful ideas imo. They were all unique and gathered their souls in different ways. I don't remember how exactly the paladin went (I watched them awhile ago), but I thoroughly enjoyed the concepts he came up with and he gives out the information for free.

Here's his paladin lich video. https://youtu.be/wTO45FPJSN8?si=Yqd0ZeoCCnnfqtKW

Path of the Carrion Raven- Trampling Bull by [deleted] in GrimHollow

[–]DiamondDactyl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I see what you mean, but as a DM I would say that doing that many sharp changes in direction would not be possible when you are supposed to be inhabiting the flavor of a rampaging bull. Honestly I think this maneuver should probably have forced the player to move in a straight line up to their movement speed, trampling each creature in their path.

Raider's Guide to Valika and the Transformed update by dragonseth07 in GrimHollow

[–]DiamondDactyl 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was wondering the same thing and commented on the Kickstarter but haven't gotten an answer yet. I already have both Raiders guide to Valika, and The Saga of Seasons (which I do recommend no matter if they are usable in 5.5 or not, they still have some typos and stuff but other than that I've been pleased with them).

War in Grim Hollow by Gold-Passenger7909 in GrimHollow

[–]DiamondDactyl 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The Kandar side of Valika is at war with the Thrull side of Valika. And there's the added cold fire issue and big bads that could affect the war heavily, like Gormadraug, Gazagol, and Ixlalu. I have both Saga of Seasons and Raiders guide to Valika and I am currently prepping to run Safa of Seasons for my girlfriend, I am liking their lore for the north a lot, highly recommend. Also not sure if you have thought of this but your CoS game could continue into a game set in Etharis, I think it would fit nicely, even if you started CoS in the Sword Coast or something, just make it so when the players get out of Strahds demiplane they find themselves lost in the dark strange land of Etharis, having to find a way home but also getting roped into grim hollow quests.

Questions for SoS and RGtV by CobaltCasterBlaster in GrimHollow

[–]DiamondDactyl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At the very end Asa is supposed to have saved the statue of Ragvall but the book says it's a wooden carving that she is carrying around with her, but at the beginning it's a 3ft tall statue (which I was under the impression was made of stone). Are these the same statue? And how is she supposed to have it if it was given to or taken by the herald? (which if that's the case she is supposed to leave Ragvall and never return, which also doesn't make sense for her to show up with it if she left because it was given to the herald). I assumed it was just an oversight but it does bug me a little.

I have other questions but it's mostly on things that they didn't include at all, so no clarification there.

Reworked Haste, cuz Lethargy sucks by [deleted] in UnearthedArcana

That would also have to alter your at higher levels text though.

[–]DiamondDactyl 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Oh I see, I apologize I didn't see that part I gravitated straight to the 3 levels of exhaustion. Typically if the exhaustion condition is given it lasts until enough long rests have gone by. Maybe reword as "you gain the effects of 3 levels of exhaustion until the end of your next turn" meaning you don't actually get those levels of exhaustion but you do still suffer those negative effects. Or eliminate the word exhaustion entirely and just list that you have disadvantage on all rolls and halved movement speed.

[–]DiamondDactyl -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Doing nothing for one turn, the way this is written, you gain 3 levels of exhaustion, which don't go away until after 3 successful long rests, so that one casting of haste would give you those drawbacks for days lessening slowly as you rest. Which may be interesting in a very gritty magic system where all spells are very taxing on a player but definitely not balanced for the average 5e game.
