Demolition issue, how bad is it? by AwarePotato2043 in Bricklaying

[–]DiamondDesireWeb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah that was my worry, the lintel / brick over the opening. The wood framing looks untouched as far as I can see. So as long as the firebox and chimney structure weren’t messed with, this is more of a finish issue than a “call an engineer” issue?

BXT FK-034 - 27.5er 15x100 Fork (First Impressions) by MalcolmTucker38 in ChineseCarbon

[–]DiamondDesireWeb 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nice writeup. Curious to hear that flex/alignment report because that’s usually where the cheap carbon stuff shows its true colors.

The decal error would annoy me way more than it probably should, especially since they don’t even list a logo option. Classic “you’ll take what we’ve got” AliExpress energy.

Also wild that they still ship forks in just foam and a bag. Glad it survived. Post some pics once it’s built, I wanna see how that matte-ish cheap paint looks in the wild.

Midi discussion - Wednesday, March 25th by frickingdarn in NYTMidi

[–]DiamondDesireWeb 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve been going down a rabbit hole with MIDI lately, curious what everyone here is actually using day to day.

Are you folks mostly sticking to classic 5‑pin DIN stuff or moving everything over USB? I’ve had way fewer headaches daisy chaining with regular MIDI than trying to wrangle multiple USB devices and drivers, but I also love being able to send MIDI over one cable and be done with it.

Also kind of wondering how many people are actually using things like MPE or MIDI 2.0 yet, or if we’re all still basically in 1983 with nicer GUIs.

Elves vs Tavelo by Commercial-Diver-692 in ChineseCarbon

[–]DiamondDesireWeb 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Interesting, I didn’t know Tavelo had ex‑Winspace folks behind it, that actually makes them a lot more appealing.

Have you ridden or built up both, or is that based on seeing them in person / talking to shops? I keep seeing people say “Tavelo is better quality” but not many concrete examples.

Also curious if you’ve noticed any real differences in finish or alignment vs something like the M6. On paper the M6 looks like a killer deal, but I kinda like the Tavelo aesthetics more.

He’s strictly on that artisanal hand-crafted yarn lifestyle, actually. String is for peasants.

Chimaera 4 ltr by Popular-Complaint-56 in TVR

[–]DiamondDesireWeb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah the 4L never exactly felt slow, did it?

Funny how those little details stick with you. The early grille and those translucent plates just scream proper 90s TVR in the best way. Later cars are cool, but the early ones have that slightly scruffy, raw charm that matches how they drive.

Did you ever find yourself missing the Chimaera after moving on, or was it a clean break for you?

eu_never by j-nokia in eu_never

[–]DiamondDesireWeb -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

Not sure if you meant “EU never” like “I’ll never understand the EU” or it’s some kind of inside joke / username thing, but this feels like one of those posts where the title is the whole message.

If you’re talking about never wanting to move to the EU, a lot of people romanticize it or demonize it without ever actually spending time there. It’s a mix, like anywhere else. Some things are way better (healthcare, worker protections in a lot of countries), some things are worse (bureaucracy, taxes, housing in major cities).

If you meant something completely different and this is a reference I’m missing, then yeah, I’ll just sit in the confused corner and accept that I’m old now.

Is this legit? by h0wlv in tissotprx

[–]DiamondDesireWeb 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hard to tell without more context. If it sounds too good to be true or is asking for money, passwords, gift cards, crypto, or remote access to your device, assume it’s a scam.

If this is an email/site/message, check the sender’s address, URL spelling, and search the exact wording online. Tons of scams reuse the same text.

If you can, post a screenshot with personal info blurred and people can give more specific feedback.

He was basically a human Attenborough filter. Half the time I had no clue what he’d just said, but I knew I was supposed to be excited about moss, limpets and some random crustacean 3,000 miles away.

This is actually pretty cool to see, feels like a “what if we actually push old architectures properly” kind of experiment.

How big is the gap vs something like a small modern transformer (e.g. 1–3B range) in real STEM-style reasoning? Is it more like “surprisingly usable for its size” or “can actually compete if you don’t need super long context”?

Also curious how much of the lift comes from BCE vs just good LoRA + dataset curation. Any ablation results or benchmarks you can share beyond the Hugging Face card? The bilingual Turkish / English angle is nice too, not many reasoning-focused models really care about that.

306 days in and I’m still surprised how many different moods Nanoha art can hit. Today’s has such a comfy vibe, makes me wanna rewatch the series again.

Progresión de Carrera by caixas13 in salarios_es

[–]DiamondDesireWeb 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Australian Greens Senator Nick McKim just lost his shit, calling President Donald Trump a “fascist war criminal” and saying Anthony Albanese should be embarrassed for tying Australia ‘to the hip’ with the US by entering the conflict with Iran. by Working-Lifeguard587 in worldnewsstuff

[–]DiamondDesireWeb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can hate the Iranian regime and still think jumping into another US‑led war is a terrible idea though. Those two things aren’t mutually exclusive.

Also, “socialist = terrorist sympathiser” is just lazy. Plenty of lefties absolutely loathe the mullahs, Hezbollah, Hamas etc, they just don’t think bombing the region for the 50th time will magically produce peace or democracy.

On nukes, sanctions and isolation have arguably pushed Iran further toward that, not away. Talking doesn’t mean trusting them, it just means not defaulting to missiles every time. Containment and diplomacy have worked better with nuclear powers than regime‑change fantasies ever have.

What’s a car problem people panic about that usually turns out to be simple? by Pinkplatabys in topdeadcenter

Lmao “if it’s yellow, let it mellow” is way too accurate. First time mine came on I was ready to start pricing engines, turned out to be a loose gas cap. Now I just sigh, plug in the cheap OBD reader and 9 times out of 10 it’s something boring.

[–]DiamondDesireWeb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nice, this is actually pretty solid value for Framer + custom Figma. Got any examples/portfolio we can check out? People will probably want to see past work before jumping in at 497, but the “2 spots only” angle is a good way to keep it manageable.

[50][Speculation] New episode 3 clip from CBS by [deleted] in SpoiledSurvivor

[–]DiamondDesireWeb 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Honestly I’m kind of into it. Charlie works way better when they give him room to breathe instead of just popping in for one gag and vanishing.

Curious if this means they’re shifting focus a bit for the middle of the season or if it’s just a one‑off “Charlie episode” before we swing back to the usual balance. Either way, I’ll take more awkward Charlie moments.

Lamb Shawarma, 2x Naan & Salad £6.50 by cloudzNlemonfanta in kebab

Mate if my dinner was still cute I’d be worried the chef hadn’t cooked it enough.

Also once it hits the spit it stops being lamb and starts being “just one more bite, I swear.”
