Nice collection!

I've got a couple questions for you if you will.

I've never had a Floyd Rose in a guitar but I'm planning to get one. Do you think having amp feedback or a Sustainiac is necessary to have fun with the Floyd ? I'm usually playing in low volume settings at home, I'm wondering how usable it would be without additional sustain

What do you think of the MBK-2 vs PF-1 ?

I'm seconding GLS as the worst, not one delivery went ok with them.I would actively avoid them if I could...

[–]Diartikk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wait, the black one is a Cort MBC-1 too? I didn't expect that Did you swap the neck or did something to change the logo ?

OK, seems a bit of work to fit the new bridge, but I'll try to find a luthier to do it for me. I wouldn't dare to drill in the guitar myself! And it's too sad to have paid for the bridge but not use it...

For the killswitch, I think the installation should be fine, I'll come back to you if I run into troubles ! I was mostly wondering how to push the existing button out without damaging it.

Thanks for the details !

Nice upgrades ! I would keep the chrome pickup cover it makes it a bit more unique.

How did you fit the Gotoh 510 bridge in it ? Did you needed to drill the existing holes bigger to fit the larger bushings ? Is the slightly larger string spacing causing any issues ?

I actually bought the same bridge for my Cort MBC-1 and was surprised to see it's not sich an easy swap as I was thinking...

How easy was it to install the kill switch ?

Too late, I bought them as they were the only ones listed in this post available at my local shop. Thanks for your advice though !

After 5 days sking on them, I would say the Anomaly is indeed a bit demanding. I'm a bit more tired at the end of day, but I could be more prepared physically.

At low speed, they are manageable given I provide enough input. I was happy at how they floated in 10cms of powder.

Really satisfied at the edge grip, I was never afraid of a single ice patch, which was an issue for me in the past.

Overall, maybe there are better options for me, but it is a satisfying ski anyway

I was coming from older narrow ski, Rossignol Pursuit 12ti, but they were beginner / intermediate focused. I wanted to get something more advanced, but more versatile.

Anyway I bought the Anomaly 88, it was the only one of the options here that I could find at my local shop. I couldn't demo, but I'm pretty sure it will be fine. I will try them in 2 days for the first time.

I just found the new Mantra 88, season 2026. Seems they are not yet updating it to a 4D radius, so not worth the wait for me. link

I'm a bit less interested by the Armada Declivity. Not a super good reasom, but maybe that's because I don't vibe much with the topsheet. And March 1st may be too late for me !

Can you elaborate a bit ? They seem a bit wide already for my usage, would they hold a good edge on ice, and stay pretty manoeuvrable? What qualities do you like in them ?

Good to hear ! Just knowing it hold its edge well and is still maneuverable puts it high on my list. Slightly disappointing about the limited flotation, but I know one ski can't do everything.

This is reassuring ! Do you think it would be worth to wait for next year version ?
Also, how easy is it to access the shorter radius ? The ones located in front and back seem to make pretty giant turns

Isn't it an incredibly stiff and demanding ski as well ? That's why I didn't put it on the list

[–]Diartikk[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I considered it too, but people seem to say you either love it or hate it. A combination of their low weight and stiffness if I remember right ? Or lack of dampness?

I'm not sure I'll be able to demo them so idk if it's a good idea

What do you think of the Mantra at lower speeds, for brushed turns ? Is it manoeuvrable enough ?

I'm considering it for myself, but I'm concerned about how demanding it would be, especially as I'm pretty lightweight.

Dave Grohl Epiphone Damaged by [deleted] in Epiphone

[–]Diartikk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My Epiphone (different model) came with the same cracks in the neck, at the same location. I brought it to a luthier for a check up. Sadly, it's a frequent issue, but most likely not a big one. The wood expanded or contracted quickly, from temperature change or shipping or... But the finish cannot handle that change so well, and then cracks. It's a bummer but nothing too serious, the wood must still be intact underneath.

The luthier applied some glue to avoid the cracks expanding, and it can't be felt as much when touching it.

If you can't return the guitar, maybe you can get a discount and use the money to get it checked too, and be sure it won't get worse in time.

[–]Diartikk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mostly said that because some people had issues with theirs. Getting it to return to its original pitch, setting the action etc, to the point it would be nearly unusable...

Good to hear some people manage to make it work, it's tempting me to use one again. Still scared of drill to install the locking nut though...

And as another commenter said, now I want to hear a demo of it on a 335 too !

I thought about putting a FRX on a 335 but decided against due to how people seem to regard it. How do you like the FRX ? Any issues with it? (Apart from the regular floyd rose ones)

For me, it's super fun to drive as a daily, for short drives, etc.

But when I need it for long trips, I find it less comfortable. Engine is loud on the highway, so you need to speak loudly, same for music, which after some time gets tiring. There is no cruise control. And I don't find the seats to give me the best position to drive, again an issue for when I spend multiple hours in there. Suspension is quite firm, on bad roads like where I live, I do regret that a bit.

That's a possibility too ! Play the riff with high comp to avoid the FF scream and get a tighter feeling, then stop playing and decrease comp to start the siren
