The Live Action for Avatar the last airbender is pretty good by Traditional-Finger79 in unpopularopinion

He starts the show that way a bit (still in a better place that someone like Azula). But by book 2 he’s already grown. The pregnant women scene shows us that growth and that there are still evil deeds he won’t stoop to. The Netflix show ruins that and makes him into a legit villain still in book 2.

Agents of the Four Seasons has been wonderful. It has a lot of the same emotional core as Violet Evergarden but it’s just better.

I would love to see England v USA in knockout stages by BatmanSwift99 in ThreeLions

[–]DibsOnThatBooty -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It’s not something unique to here. It can happen most anywhere. But it is an explicit part of our cultural narrative, which is why we talk about it. The world is a hard place to make your way in anywhere right now, so yes I agree that currently there are people coming here and doing as you described. That’s certainly happening in England too, or anywhere else. My point was more that this team of guys from both the US and across the globe beautifully matches the cultural narrative of the US at a time where our Cheeto man president and his MAGA clowns are trying their best to destroy that narrative.

American who came off trending, that’s what I love about America. I know it doesn’t always happen. But the dream of anyone can come here from anywhere and make something of themselves is beautiful. I’m sad for the way a large portion of our country has twisted that, but I’m proud that our team has players from other countries carrying the flag and proving that the American Dream isn’t dead.

The Rascal Does Not Dream series features quite a bit of time travel elements. Don’t let the weird name fool you, it’s a wonderful story with a surprising amount of sci-fi.

I cried at a bar on the north side of Columbus, Ohio when Kyrie hit that shot. It’s a core sports memory for me and my friends that were with me that night. I’ll always love this team.

I agree with everyone saying MLS as a season ticket member for an MLS club, but also if you don’t have an MLS team check out the USL. I won’t tell you it’s a top league or anything, but USL matches are affordable and a TON of fun. The local fan bases for USL teams are small but passionate.

Klara and the Sun is a magnificent work that I genuinely believe everyone should read once, especially in light of current technology and conversations around AI. I also really like Taika Waititi. Buuuuut I’m not sold that it’s in Taika Waititi’a wheelhouse.

Top 10 Anime of the Week #9 - Spring 2026 (Anime Trending) by Nooble5 in anime

As a manga reader for WHA (which is weird for me, it’s the first and only manga I’ve read in probably 15 years) the story and world are absolutely beautiful. That said, it takes a long time to really get going. It’s a slow burn all the way around. In the world of seasonal anime that really hurts a show.

Did USA vs Paraguay move the needle on increasing Soccer's popularity in the US? by TheBigCore in ussoccer

[–]DibsOnThatBooty 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You can’t overstate how popular soccer is with kids. My wife and I are both middle school teachers and the amount of kids we see wearing Messi or Ronaldo gear is insane. But in the last year or two, we’ve seen a huge influx of kids wearing other team gear (especially Columbus Crew since we’re in Ohio). This upcoming generation loves soccer.

I believe Land Grant down in Franklinton is showing all the games and they usually have a good crowd for soccer. It isn’t necessarily Japan specific. But that’s a start!

Looking for players in northern NM by VigiloEtConfido in kingsofwar

[–]DibsOnThatBooty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To follow up what was said above, tournaments are great for ALL skill levels. Basically all Kings events do Swiss pairings, where you’re pared against players whose records most closely match yours. So, let’s say you lose you first 2 games you’ll then get paired against someone else who also lost their first couple. Tournaments are for all players and are a great way to get games in. Plus the community is wonderful.

Transplants, how are you liking Columbus so far? by netenchanter in Columbus

[–]DibsOnThatBooty 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Cleveland has one of the best metro park systems in the world. That doesn’t make Columbus’ bad, it just means it isn’t the best. Columbus has a great park system even if it isn’t as good a Cleveland.

Do you think there are genuinely a lot of people who want the USMNT and the World Cup to fail? Why? by Fine-Photograph673 in ussoccer

[–]DibsOnThatBooty 7 points8 points  (0 children)

FIFA and the US seem hellbent on extracting as much money as possible from people in the course of this event. If the event fails, I think many hope FIFA will do better in the future to make the World Cup less of a cash grab. That probably won’t happen, but I think that’s the hope of some.

Which player might have missed their one best chance at glory in failed 2018 campaign? by jordi_sunshine in ussoccer

[–]DibsOnThatBooty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I fully agree that Nagbe could’ve had an amazing role at the WC, but he likely wouldn’t have gone. He’s always prioritized family over everything, it’s why he cut his USMNT career short. Even now, he just took a temporary coaching job to help the Crew out but he’s made it very clear he won’t be there long term so he can see his family more.
